    2nd Day

Just some thoughts? Pump Out - you are one week into your holiday? I would suggest get one before you go south, but bear in mind Saturday is key changeover day and some yards might not be that pleased to see you. You could try Maycraft on your way out of Potter on the right hand side, small yard but very friendly. Sunday isn't such a good day because some yards now it is October might want to have a day off? Don't forget to check your fuel as well - I have no idea how large tanks are these days but we wouldn't want to run out would we - Janet Anne? In all my 60+ years of boating I have never knowingly moored at Yarmouth so do take care and listen to any instruction from the Rangers and above all, wear your life jacket and get your tides right. Liz
  4. The Halloween aspect was irrelevant - they were Hotel Chocolat chocolates!!!
  5. No worries at all. This is what the Forum is famous for - deviation. Looking at the 2nd Night thread poor PaulMargaret must be wondering what happened last night! Take care and keep smiling the best you can! Daughter no 3 sent a food parcel this morning of Halloween style chocolates and a bottle of gin! Finally going back to work next week - having to check my work clothes still fit! Lx
  6. Decided since I note others do do this I am going to give myself a more sensible profile name! So W-album is about to end - if it works and LizG is about appear from now on. Far more sensible to be identified by my name rather than an obscure scientific name for a rare butterfly - called the White-letter Hairstreak All the best and bye from W-album - welcome LizG or whatever it lets me change to!

    2nd Day

You sound happier and more relaxed today? Just have a look around Roy's/Wroxham (well Hoveton to be exact) and make your own decisions for food :)
  8. And 'Let's be Broad Based'
  9. It was this one http://www.broads.org.uk/wiki2018/index.php?title=Boat_Details&BoatId=380&BoatHistory=16901
  10. Two old slides from the holiday in the early 60s
  11. Father hired the smaller Challenger 34 in the early 60s one bleak April.
  12. Have a great time - your choice of boat at this present time with rather higher tides than usual will make life easier!
  13. Looking at the exhaust it was quite low in the water as well? Is that Martham's work boat? Just surprised there weren't more people on board?
  14. Also a Post Office at Berney Arms?
  15. I would suggest early 60s - Vaughan should know from the photos of Horning Sailing Club and the classes that would be sailing then? I think I can see a Star mast and Merlin Rocket plus others.
  16. You could produce a calendar just with your photos! Beautiful!
  17. I haven't read all your post or your previous introduction post. Are you on shore power or generator? Just make sure there is nothing that will prevent the bilge pump from working - that is lack of power!
  18. I stepped back yesterday to see how the original post was taken! In jest and in seriousness etc. etc. I prefer to drive the car and when privileged to be custodian of WR, nearly always took control. The crew does however, need to know what you plan to do. No point in coming into a mooring without briefing the crew and know they understand. They also can't just sit back and let you do the lot! As to driving, I prefer to drive my beaten up Fiesta - plenty of dents, realignments of garden wall etc. but easy to park and get through tight spaces. Foreign holidays, I do the driving, whatever side of the road - the reason I prefer to be directed and if he gets it wrong its his fault. However, more recently and with the need to drive into central London to collect our daughter from hospital, I have taken a complete back seat, I simply refused to drive the large car! We have SatNav but there have been several closed roads due to HS2 and its a nightmare. I don't think its age - just I don't like it and I don't want to be the one that has someone hit us! I think its good that LondonGuy is asking all these questions - yes some have been answered in other threads but if more new hirers asked these questions we might not have so many problems.
  19. Just warning him - he's going to be in trouble with this post!
  20. You are going to have fun with this one!!!!

    Hit And Run..

There is a longer 9 minute version of the day available. What I found rather disappointing was that the person who appears to have driven there, spends the day filming peoples' mishaps or waiting for a mishap! I think some of the footage is zoomed in so it makes it look even worse than it was that day!

    Ludham Bridge

George has been posting some videos and photos on Social Media showing the extent of flooding at Ludham Bridge
  23. I've read there will be a shortage of small turkeys but a glut of large birds!
