  1. Could have been disastrous, but the crew had luck on their side really. I doubt they will be doing that again in a hurry.
  2. Glad to hear the scumbag has been caught.
  3. Having read about this incident, who foots the bill for the damage caused to the boat in a situation such as this, the hirer or the boat owner?
  4. Sometimes the reason why people do not vote in the General Election, is because the party they want to vote for, has no representative in their constituency. Only Labour, Lib Dems & Conservatives have ever stood in my constituency. So for instance, if I decided I wanted to vote for Ukip, I couldn't. It is about time the voting system was changed, so that you can vote for the Party you want to govern, not the Candidate, in other words Proportional Representation, this would encourage more people to vote. Something the Lib Dems have wanted for a long time. It's the two main parties that don't agree on the PR system, because they know that they may loose out. I think the British Voting system is due for a change.
  5. Yes Iain, you are right. Uncle Albert is alive and kicking. Timbos website is certainly an enjoyable read.
  6. Clarkson would never be in the position to run the country, but he could join the other joker's like Cameron, Milliband, Clegg & Farage.
  7. Can someone please tell me. Who this Uncle Albert guy is? Is he real or just a figment of the imagination..
  8. With all the votes he is getting, maybe he should think of becoming a politician and lead The Monster Raving Loony Party. He would certainly fit the bill. Somebody the party could look up to, since the passing of Screaming Lord Sutch. :
  9. I think he had it coming, as he has been close to the mark for a long time now, but having said that, I do like Top Gear and replacing him with somebody who can fit in with May & Hammond, is going to be difficult, because without Clarkson, it won't be the same. The three of them together, running each other down, is what makes Top Gear enjoyable. Top Gear has changed dramatically to what it used to be when it first started, whether for the better, depends on your view. Gone are the days, when they reviewed the latest manufacturers cars that any of us could afford to buy, without having to take out another mortgage to own one. Jeremy Clarkson only has himself to blame and whether he will be reinstated by public demand, we will have to wait and see, but I think he has gone too far this time. Whether Top Gear does continue, depends on the BBC, but whatever happens, without the Three Stooges, it will never be the same without Clarkson.
  10. It's what you call a Wooly Hat Sunvisor.
  11. Yes those Duck Island boats are very very nice, worth the extra for a bit of luxury. Being a lock free canal, we might give this ago maybe next year. I have bookmarked the website.
  12. 5 weeks 4 days for us. Pity we won't meet any of those who has posted so far, unless Alan & Tan, venture onto the North Broads, with Ranworth Breeze, we might see you. As this is our first holiday, we will be staying in the North Broads, as it is all new to us, venturing no further south than the Stracey Arms, Great Yarmouth is not our scene. So if you do decide to come up north, look out for us on Star Gem. Here's wishing everyone a nice holiday!
  13. I think the Oxford Canal, is where Timothy & Prunella, have their own home mooring, but I may be wrong. The Oxford is one of the nicest Midland canals. It was shortened in quite a few places, during the late nineteenth/early twentieth century to shorten the journey time, by additional locks. Parts of the old original route (still visible in places) followed the lay of the land contours and doubled back on itself for quite a few miles in several places. Whilst on the subject of canals, The Hatton Flight on the Grand Union Canal in Warwickshire was on the ITV Midlands news a few days ago, as they are replacing quite a few of the lock gates.
  14. Will watch Series 2. The last series was very good. I like Timothy West & Prunella. True boaters!
  15. Maybe it will bounce its way out of hibernation
  16. Maybe, but down here in the Midlands, we don't get it as cold as you do in Scotland. Everytime I see the weather forecast after the news, It always seems to be raining where you are, so when you come to Norfolk Iain, leave the wet stuff up there.
  17. Another gorgeous day today, the best so far it is 16 degrees outside and the sun has definitely got its hat on.
  18. Taking the subject of this thread - What Happens If You Don't Die. Means you must be immortal and you will live forever! Just think how many Broads holidays you can have!
  19. I appreciate that you like reading the ping pong, as you put it, between members, BUT in the approapiate thread! This thread is about the Good Nosh Guide, not a discussion on whether the Broads should become a National Park or not, whatever your views. This has been discussed elsewhere on this forum, so PLEASE, lets keep topics on course and not drift off on to other topics, not related to each other. Now where can I find an Italian restaurant that serves Chinese and Indian meals?
  20. You could always switch to rose wine, Grace, you will then get a little bit of white and red.
  21. Hear hear Iain. I also agree with JawsOrca, it shouldn't just be left to Richardson's, but the tourist agencies, should make guides like this available. Hats off to Clive for taking the lead with this. and the other brochure covering all aspects of the Broads, produced by Richardson's, which is also an excellent guide for visitors. Not only is it a boost to their company, but to the Broads as a whole, in attracting visitors to the area.
  22. We have daffodils out in bloom. The fish in the pond are starting to come to the surface more, and the birds are busy on the bird feeders. It is much warmer today, than it's been for a while and the days are getting longer. Make's you feel better as well, when the sun is shining. Let's just hope for a good summer!
  23. Good point by Ranworthbreeze about water for making tea/coffee etc. I think you have convinced us to use bottled water for these purposes, just to be on the safe side and just use the water from the boat for washing and showering. Water which you are not used to, can sometimes taste different from the water you are used to drinking at home.
