  1. I don’t think I’ll be able to make that. Sorry. I think I’ll be overseas. If there’s any clean up or anything after the event I can do next time I’m down you only have to ask.
  2. Haha. He might need the pigeon to tell him which head to take off [emoji57]
  3. Did Alan come to you or did you take Nipper to Maycraft?
  4. Ricardo to the pub. Pidgeon to fix the moorings Dog to fix my ski boat engine. Sorted.
  5. I’m not sure how this is possible but I agree 100% with Marshman, you agree with him but I disagree with you [emoji57] Picking up litter helps me because I’ll have less litter. I don’t think I’ll be making enough of an impact for the council to say, great stuff, John is saving us bothering.
  6. Is it still going to be faster to stay on the A47 and go south of the city if heading East on the A47?
  7. I’ve heard of farmers moving fly tipped waste off their land to the roadside and reporting it to the council. Very risky but if they don’t then they’re expected to pay for commercial waste disposal. Doesn’t seem fair but I’ve heard from a couple of different land owners that them’s the rules.
  8. I think if you picked up the litter from private property then probably .... but places with public access? Don’t know. Very interesting question.
  9. If you use Waze satnav you can report new roads, errors etc. Volunteer map editors then update the map. You can even edit the map yourself if you so desire. Waze is owned by Google so changes to Waze are soon reflected in Google (and probably sold to other digital map companies). As a big Apple fan it pains me to say I think Waze is excellent.
  10. Of course. But I don’t like to see the litter. I’m not going to sit back and whine about it, I’m going to do something about it. I’m not saying anyone here is whining, simply that I’m not going to.
  11. Of course it is. Sorry, forgot the whole V vs A thing ... I should know better. Back to college ☹️
  12. You’ve stolen my idea [emoji57] How much battery capacity do you have? Standard leisure batteries? How long do you need to cruise to fully charge them if you’ve used most of the capacity?
  13. Is it fair to say all the problems outlined above (except for fully electric boat charging) could be solved with higher capacity battery banks and higher output chargers? But what boatyard in its right mind would add those things? “Why are your boats more expensive to hire?” “Because we’ve added stuff to avoid the need for more charging posts” ... hmmm, good luck with that sale [emoji57] You’ve had to motor to the 24 hour mooring so would it be unreasonable to expect the battery capacity to last the 24 hours you can stay there? 16 amps 24 hours (and that’s the extreme isn’t it?) is 384 amp hours of capacity isn’t it? That’s not impossible is it?
  14. We (River Thurne Tenants Association) recently had a litter pick around Potter. It’s not the solution but it’s a start. I was thinking of doing similar informally when I take the dog out (simply take a bag and pick up bits along the way) but am I ok simply leaving the bag in or near a council bin?
  15. Ah, but are your rates artificially low because of the tourism income in the area?
  16. I’m not sure I’ve got all the facts (actually what I have I got from Facebook so I probably have no facts at all) ... I’ve seen it written that there used to be a lot of bins provided by the BA but they’ve been taken away to avoid paying for commercial waste. Is that true? I can understand boatyards having to pay for commercial waste (I’m not saying it’s right but can see how it would fit the rules) but it’s hard to believe the BA would have to for waste collected at free moorings.
  17. Interesting stuff JM, MM & V. Does the congestion on the rivers themselves with boats underway seem more of a problem now than it was in the past or is it just when they swarm to moor?
  18. This thread has really brought out the people with all the answers hasn’t it? [emoji57] Debate isn’t required, just do everything my way [emoji56] That’s not aimed at any one individual.
  19. I’d say the opposite [emoji57] Not for the boaters with engines wanting a hook up but back to electric boats.... If we assume diesel and petrols will be phased out and electric is the future then the infrastructure to charge them needs to improve significantly in my opinion. A case of chicken and egg? Can more boats be electric unless we have more (moor [emoji57]) charging points? Is there any point putting in more charging points before there are enough boats that need them (“need” not being Penelope’s hair straighteners)
  20. I’m not sure about nobody paying for the facility if they don’t use the posts (don’t tolls fund the installation?). But I agree with the rest of your post 100% I imagine there was similar outrage when boats with engines started appearing [emoji57]
  21. I’m not sure where Timbo lives but I think he posted he was in Lincoln hospital. If he lives not too far from there I could pick up anything he needs at the boat and / or bring back anything he wants off the boat at home. I’m just outside Grantham and regularly travel to the Broads. That offer is regardless of whether I can make the DIY SOS weekend.
  22. Is it right that you couldn’t be charged more per unit for electricity but in theory you could be charged say £50 to buy a card to use that electric that you then top up at the going rate?
  23. Some very interesting points there folks. I hadn’t thought of dredging with regard to opening up moorings. But then if that increases the capacity of the Broads is that what people want? More boats? Personally, I’d pay more to have the Broads less crowded. Other than rebranding (because you can argue that either way) what do you see the BA wasting money on? I’m not seeing it (I’m not saying it isn’t there, just that I’m not seeing it). When I consider what I get for the money I pay I think it’s awesome value especially when I compare it to what I’ve paid on other waterways. Maybe I just see it that way because I have very small (and hence low toll) boats that I use a lot (other than a ski boat with a bu**ered engine ☹️)
  24. If there isn’t a no mooring sign can you wild moor anywhere? Or is the opposite the case ... if it doesn’t say you can moor then you can’t?
