  1. My day boat could do with a lick of paint inside. It’s mainly just uncovered GRP. I was thinking plasticised paint or enamel to smooth the surface out a bit. Smooth Hammerite? Any thoughts? Don’t want to spend much time or effort doing it, the boat doesn’t warrant it.
  2. How very dare you? [emoji57] Way too modern for me.
  3. Similar ... pour beer or gin ... buy boat that doesn’t need varnishing.

    Tide App

Absolutely nothing. That’s what that app is showing you. It’s no more clever than that. Just nice to have it in one place IMHO.
  5. Banner and block-work still there this morning. Chair gone.
  6. Dammit, you’ve just reminded me what the straps are for I took off yesterday as I couldn’t see the point of them [emoji4]

    Tide App

But when we’re out my other half says I should stay in [emoji57]

    Tide App

I’m not sure if I’ve shared this before (always possible with my memory) but even if I have I suspect some of your memories are just as bad as mine and you can’t remember [emoji57] There are literally hundreds of apps that will give you tide times. But surprisingly not many let you enter a secondary port. So each time you want to know tide times on the Broads you have to check Gorleston and add x hours. Not the most complex maths ever I admit but sometimes it’s nice to see at a glance. I found this app a few weeks ago that lets you enter up to three secondary ports and see what the tides are (times and neap / spring). It’s not completely accurate as it doesn’t work on “real” tidal predictions but I find it close enough for me. This is my screen: This is a link to the Apple app (I don’t know if there’s an Android version) Tide Clock by Frederic Marchalhttps://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/tide-clock/id303643398?mt=8 I have no connection to the app other than I use it.
  9. Show me that picture again, maybe I’ve had one [emoji6]
  10. I can see why you might think that but it absolutely wasn’t my intention. Hopefully the humour above shows that some people have taken it the way it was intended. Perhaps it’s just my sense of humour but I genuinely laughed out loud when I imagined the likes of JM being told by his phone he’s in the Broads National Park. Not in a nasty way, I just found it funny so I thought some others might too. I think it’s great that people on each side of the debate are poking fun at each other and themselves. I think it’s helped. But then I would think that. I realised some people wouldn’t find it funny which I why I suggested at the start to not read the rest of the thread if you wouldn’t. Sorry if you think I’ve done the wrong thing. I imagine some of you don’t believe a word I’ve just said but there’s nothing I can do about that. I think some people view all my posts with suspicion [emoji6] A lot of people I work with take everything I say the same way.
  11. That was just a TV program competition ... it might as well have been love island [emoji6] The BNP will always be my Best National Park.
  12. I’m going assume you mean Best National Park. I think I might use it too [emoji6]
  13. What do successful pubs and restaurants on the Broads do over winter? Shut down? Reduce costs and tickover? Draw local custom? Something else?
  14. It seems Tuesday is the start of series 2 Series 1 is available to watch now.
  15. Looks interesting Chris. Thanks for sharing. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/my-floating-home
  16. I was thinking political party so every time JM uses it he’s breaching the forum rules.
  17. Hope that’s true. John, do you mind if I copy your picture and post elsewhere?
  18. How about BPNP ... Broads Provisional National Park? Or BNNP Broads Never a National Park? Or BNPBOFMP - Broads National Park But Only For Marketing Purposes? Or Siri says .... “I see your blood pressure is increasing, I’ve removed the NP tag. Go to your happy place Peter” [emoji6]
  19. Haha If I were the BA I’d make everyone agree to them using the term before they’d allow you to take out a toll [emoji57] Or put the term on registration marks [emoji3] Hours of fun.
  20. I appreciate that JM thank you. I was expecting (and hoping for) a little light hearted abuse as I got off grendal, Ricardo etc. What I wasn’t expecting (although perhaps I should have done) was the sense of humour failure by some other people. Maybe I won’t burn my NBN pennant after all [emoji57] You might like this if you like irony but I really wish you wouldn’t use the BNP tag [emoji3] I’d assume the BA don’t dictate what area they’re responsible for or indeed pass that information to mapping companies. Nor would I expect marketing companies to. But who does? The government? Formally? Does the BA area of responsibility have to even align with what the government says is the area of the [insert non inflammatory term here]? Couldn’t the area be defined as an AONB or whatever and the BA are responsible for an area within that? I know that’s not how full NPs work but should it here? You might have shot yourself in the foot by trying to make the two aligned [emoji57] I might tell Google and Apple all of England is to be known as the Duchy of JohnK going forward [emoji57]
  21. Ok. I get it. I’m very sorry for trying to introduce a bit of humour into a serious subject. Mods, please delete this thread.
  22. I thought it was amusing. Some other people thought it was amusing. Some people still seem happy to debate the issue. Isn’t that enough? The mods / owners can of course delete / hide / lock the thread if they choose to. There wouldn’t be a complaint from me. There are lots of things I don’t find amusing on here and that I don’t want to debate. So I don’t.
  23. Well the good news is HG Mould spray worked a treat. My vinyl (or leather) is white so I don’t need to worry about discolouration. The bad news is I think I’ve got an engine problem. It ran a treat. 45mph across Breydon. Then started sounding rough under acceleration. It sounds like a dropped / broken valve to me, I hope I’m wrong.
