  1. What do people do to prepare for breakdowns / running out of fuel / running into a super yacht at speed etc? I’m assuming hirers do nothing as they’d phone the yard their boat is from. For owners / share holders what would you do? Already have some kind of policy? Call the nearest yard? Phone a friend?
  2. What did you do for that? Actually .... I’ll start another thread .... hold that thought [emoji57]
  3. So today we have a strong southerly and I think high tide has come at least an hour earlier than the predicted time at Potter (four hours after Gorleston) I would have expected the opposite as I thought a southerly pushed the water up the English Channel making tides here later. What have I misunderstood? “Everything” is a viable answer [emoji57]
  4. I’ve just received an automated message there’s a flood risk for the three rivers. There may be more warnings but I’m only signed up for my local ones. More info here: https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/warnings
  5. Sure? No. Fairly confident some will though.
  6. Ah, so you’re relying on the thorough research done by EDP? [emoji6]
  7. They’re only swimmers, not boaters, losing the odd one would be fine [emoji6] (JOKE!)
  8. No, but if 200 did it might [emoji6]
  9. Think you hit the nail on the head there. Is the BA receiving payment? Do we know they’re not or are we just assuming? Is the money local businesses will make of no value?
  10. I’ve got a light bar on my Land Rover. The wind noise from it is horrific. I thought I’d try duct tape around the bottom to keep some wind out. My plan was if it worked to fibreglass it. A year later the duct tape is still there. Quality product or lazy owner. You decide [emoji6]
  11. You could argue the navigation is closed to swimmers for over 364 days a year. Perhaps the argument that boats can’t coexist with swimmers as some are making here results in the navigation being closed to boats for a few hours. Remember it wasn’t the swimmers saying that was necessary if it happens. Perhaps as boaters our best option is to show that actually we can coexist. I’d say a blockade of swimmers is more likely to stop boats than a blockade of boats is to stop swimmers. Hopefully it never comes to that. I used to do a lot of green lane motorcycling and there used to be a lot of conflict with horse riders and walkers. One thing that helped enormously repair the relationship was bikers helping at cross country horse events by marshalling.
  12. That applies to motorbikes too. Come to think of it, it applies to everything I’ve ever owned.
  13. It would be nicer to hear from you more often but I understand why you don’t post more frequently.
  14. What’s the problem with WD? It’s my default for everything that doesn’t move [emoji6] Are you saying it’s bad for electrics or more than that?
  15. Me John? I’ve got a few days off work and need to keep my hand in at arguing with people who are clearly wrong but don’t realise. It’s like missionary work [emoji57]
  16. It’s my understanding there are less employees over the winter period. I’d guess that the tolls reflect needing less people over winter. I suppose the BA would say they’d keep everything open all year if that’s what people want but tolls would need to increase proportionally. All the above based entirely on guesswork [emoji57]
  17. Calor seem to be having big problems. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-43619732 Connected?
  18. It’s progressed much further than I thought. If you google wireless car charging loads come up. This is what I remembered. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/road-charges-your-electric-car
  19. Isn’t that a battery alternative rather than charging technology? I’ll try and find the one I was thinking of.
  20. There was talk a while ago (and a trial I think) of putting devices in the road at traffic lights etc. Your electric car needed an extra device too and when you stopped over it it worked like a wireless phone charger and gave your car a little top up. No brushes or open connection needed. I’m not sure they were particularly efficient or practical but they did work I think.
  21. If you see me at the window punching a computer drop in for a coffee [emoji57]
  22. Won’t spring tides give the most clearance at low tide? I thought springs meant the highest highs and the lowest lows.
  23. Someone on FB reckons Weds / Thurs now. No idea if that’s right.
