    Boatyard Pennants

Have you been peeking? LOL I bought an RNLI one and put it on 2 days ago 👍

That's it! You also hit the nail on the head, my photo is upside down, although I didn't realise at the time 🙂 I wonder why the previous owner flew that one, it's quite possible I guess that with 3 pennant poles it was simply bought at boat shows/jumbles over the years. It has faded significantly so I'll retire it as part of the boat's history.

It seems not unless it's an old one. They currently have this mermaid in a stripy blue towel.

    That's a good idea, I'll google Nanni 👍
  6. Found aboard were 3 old but usable pennants, one is Volvo Penta but we have a Nanni engine. The second is the original style Broom red star and crescent which is entirely appropriate and will be flown. I don't know the third one which is where you knowledgeable folks come in please?
  7. Yes, I use do use Facebook 👍
  8. While I was cruising up and down Womack the other week, hoping Malanka would leave lol, I noticed what looked like a new basin with just a few boats moored up. Is this a new marina does anyone know. It's a location that would suit me perfectly and I wondered about availability and prices!
  9. LOL I could put a fish down the loo a couple of times a day! 😁 Thanks for the info and good point about the planet 👍
  10. We have been doing this too but didn't someone say the Blue can harm the seals? Something like that (I don't know much about the toilet - but I'm looking into it 😁) I wasn't sure if I should stop putting dilute Blue in the pan or not?
  11. I don't personally know anyone who goes online to check the Food Standards official rating before going out to eat. Publishing the results by the EDP and here is a public service in my opinion If a business has allowed their premises to deserve a rating of one then they only have themselves to blame. Had a very similar experience, hospitalised for a week and genuinely thought I was going to die during the first morning.
  12. If the official current rating is 1 then that is the best information available to us. The rest (positive and negative) is indeed just speculation. As members of the public our most sensible course is to believe the experts until they publish an update.
  13. I'll stick with the inspectors, food poisoning is a pretty harsh test of hygiene 🤮
  14. No.. I don't expect to have to check that items included in the price are present before I leave... whether it's a boating holiday or anything else. Not too worried about the capital letters, that's really only an online protocol but it's not reasonable to say to a customer "we don't have time to check we have done it properly, so that's your fault now if you don't check" Not a business model I would return to!
  15. Devolved responsibilities 🙄
  16. If the EDP report an official inspection result that is not naming and shaming! I have very little time for EDP journalism and certainly do not defend them usually. We have no more proof the the owner supplied evidence to the contrary than the poster of the comment saying so. If the inspectors have made a big mistake they will put it right, meanwhile I'm happy to take the experts word for it. How do you ever make an informed decision if you don't trust official information... may as well just flip a coin. I'll eat there again happily when a better score is officially sanctioned, lovely staff and service!
  17. I agree, pretty sure we would have given a miss to the one we visited if we had known!
  18. Ate in one of those recently, couldn't see the kitchen obviously but the food left something to be desired. Let's hope the rating is a wake up call for them all!
  19. Good point, I admit I wasn't concentrating on the terminology... I imagine anything designed to stop a dog flying on impact amounts to a similar thing though.
  20. In anything other than a bump a dog who is simply tethered to it's collar will break it's neck sadly. Cages are better but there is still a limit to what sudden stop an impact a dog will survive... or us for that matter 🙁
  21. As you know it is now a legal requirement that dogs are tethered in cars.... Almost impossible to police I guess but if tickets are issued during random stops or along with other offences it may slowly have an effect. For now though it's exactly as you say and many still do sadly. (My mum, bless her, thought it was for the dog's safety 🙂)
  22. I think part of the problem, especially for those with less experience is a lack of exposure to some of the terrible outcomes. To the man concerned no doubt it looked safe and he has noe gone away confirmed in that opinion. I don't know what the answer is I'm sure. As children road safety is drummed into us and even so there are too many avoidable accidents... on the Broads many are there for the first time and perhaps have no understanding how bad a "slow motion" accident can be.
  23. I'm sure I've asked this before but I can't find it or remember the answer. The terms wake and wash sometimes seem to be used to mean the same thing.. what specifically is 'wash' and what is 'wake'?
  24. I see what you mean, the binding gives it the proper finished look. Very smart 👍
