  1. My boat needs 8'8" minimum and I've been under ludham with 8'2" showing on the board and still had clearance.
  2. What Gracie means is "take an IV line and dripstand for the wine"
  3. There's not many hire boats that can't get under ludham bridge so you should be ok for the ant, neatishead is nice with a good pub and you can drop a weight on barton broad if you fancy it. White horse at upton is good. What boat have you booked? It will give people an idea of where it can go and how it will turn in the dykes.
  4. I do have a faceache login but it's not my name or anything like and date of birth is way out, I just don't trust the social media sites with my info, check out the birthday list on any forum on jan 1st and see how many 100+ year olds are there, on a bike forum I wished somone a happy 168th birthday last year. I may have a peek but I won't be putting my name to anything, I'm happy to put my name to my opinions but not to hand it to the tech companies more than I have to.
  5. Shame it's on faceache, there's a lot that care about the broads but don't care for faceache. It's not much hassle or cost to setup a web address and a forum these days.
  6. I assume you have a decent battery charger for when on shore power in which case just hook tv into 12V and let the battery charger deal with it, there's not that much draw from a tv. As for aerial try it on what you have before spashing out on something you might not need, I have an old glomex omni directional aerial on my radar arch and it had a booster in the system which I took out, most of the time it does fine without the booster except rockland and loddon where everyone struggles and phones say no.
  7. The point is that we've already paid for it in the toll. It will cut the pubs trade for sure and many pubs can afford that these days.
  8. Wierdo! I guess nobody is perfect.
  9. That's not stamped, that's a bloody sticker! I'll get a load printed and only charge £20 a go to fit them, bargain or what.
  10. I've not yet seem marine stamped on any regulator on any of the boats I've had, all passed bss. I also have some stamps.....
  11. I assume that means "yes it has". I wonder how many 4.5kg bottles calor will find amongst the broken glass in their head office foyer over the next year.
  12. As clip on bottles are going to become the only option for so many boats they'll either pass or the rules will change to suit.
  13. Sound like a no brainer for your usage, we only have the cooker on gas and only usually do coffees and a bacon roll for brekkie on it, the pubs deal with the rest and diesel does the heating, a 4.5kg bottle does me about a year generally.
  14. You can always ask for something written that shows the charge is legal when they ask for it and see if they walk away, I can see quite a few challenging it when asked.
  15. I look forward to seeing the potterhamoid meteor shower every spring for years to come as the remains orbit the earth.....
  16. Looking at the cost of the gaslow bottles it would take me many years of gas use to break even over the actual gas saving so I think flogas will be my way out, I have a spare empty calor but even if I see a full one available I doubt I will part any more cash to calor, I'm fairly sure the height restriction in my gas locker is a grp moulding edge that can fairly easily be cut by an inch to allow for the base moulding and just resin in the moulding to flat, at least a clip on regulator will be easier and I can ditch the rusty spanner. I suppose 40 years after the boat was built is a fair time for the same bottles to be available, others will have a harder time changing in tight gas lockers, many boats were fitted out specifically for those bottles back then. I have a nearly full bottle and a spare full so I doubt it will be a worry till 2024 for me. I look forward to seeing all the 4.5kg bbq's over the next couple of years, got use the bottles somehow....
  17. Fenders dragging in the water is another matter, I have fallen foul to this when dropping lower for a low edge and forgetting to lift again but try and avoid that, mine are on spring hooks that go around the lower guard wire normally and keeps them clear of the water but can be hooked around the stantion bases when needed lower. Each to their own but I don't think it's good to advise folk to go out on deck everytime they move or moor without any knowledge of their boat or experience/physical ability.
  18. https://www.calor.co.uk/cylinder-range-faq After all the faffing trying to get bottles for the last 3 years Calor have now announced they are discontinuing the 3.9 propane and 4.5 butane bottles (along with a few others) so if you see any stock get them quick if that is all that fits your boat. Can someone using 4.5kg flogas please measure the base ring OD and post for those of us with moulded gas locker bases? There's likely to be quite a few on here needing locker mods once they run out, flogas show 340mm height and 240mm diameter if that helps anyone but they don't give the base ring which looks bigger to me. Base OD of my spare calor bottle is 195mm if it helps anyone. Gits!!!!!!!
  19. At least that's how much you told her..... Looks nice!
  20. Yikes!!!! The big question is what boat/construction then.
  21. I put mine on deck tucked behind the stantions for a blast across breydon but stow them in the lazarette for a sea trip, my old fenders sat behind the stantions better so they stayed there for sea trips but the new ones slip back too far. For river runs thought they stay down, it's a leisure vessel not a warship.
  22. That's a sea thing and for those that play at still being at sea Andrew, most rational pub hoppers don't mess around lifting and dropping fenders all the time on rivers, it adds to the time spent on decks over open water which adds to the hazards.
  23. It takes a while for the yorkshire translation.
  24. Nice job, I recon you are getting the hang of it now.... As JA said I dread to think of the actual hours that have gone into that, I'll stick to grp as I'm far too lazy for that sort of job and wouldn't have the skills or patience if I did have the motivation, just glad others have so I can look at them as they go by.
