  1. Ha ha! Still frozen. Tried to persuade nice lady from Faircraft Loynes to get their tug out and break the ice but to no avail. In hindsight should have moored at Hotel Wroxham as main river is clear. Might have to repair to the Kings Head Hoping temperature will be up a bit by the time we get to Oulton Broad.
  2. Tis a tad parky this morning!
  3. No sign of life on Sunday. It would help if pub hours were a bit more predicable but as we are finding to our cost this is not the case. Kings Head in Hoveton closed early tonight too.
  4. Thanks for the heads up Aiming to travel South on Thursday with OBYS the first stop. Mrs Nog reckons the weather will improve slightly but we are not taking any risks at all with ice so always have a plan B.
  5. We keep missing you by a whisker! We will catch up soon. Cruising time is precious to us so we do tend to set off early! Yes they were all private boats huddled round the electric. We were at the far end.
  6. Turned out nice again
  7. Safely tucked up in Faircraft Loynes yard. Need to watch for ice but keeping a sharp eye on the situation. Ice on Salhouse and Wroxham Broads. Moorings at Horning very busy!
  8. The Swan just had Ghost Ship on but to be fair it was well kept. Staff were friendly and helpful and didn't boot us out early so on the whole we were happy. Ferry was closed. New Inn had 2 pumps, both showing Doombar. Had a Guinness. Staff OK but very keen to stress they were closing early. Didn't try the grub. So not turning cart wheels, may have a trip to Cromer today and into the Red Lion. Great beer choice and Black Shuck gin for Mrs Nog. Bit warmer today too!
  9. Was this afternoon! Moved on to Horning. Top marks to the Swan for not kicking us out early
  10. Aw, what a shame, bit later than as they were closing early so into the Swan, last in as usual We will bump into you yet!!! Mrs Nog is partial to a gin or three
  11. Ha ha! Pride before a fall. Only 'beer' at New Inn was Doombar. serves me right for showing off!!! Appreciate the advice on the ice. Need to be careful anyway but especially when it's not your boat!!
  12. Twas good to catch up again and hopefully over a beer next time Sorry about the footie and also for the early start but I have an urgent appointment with a pint of Norfolk Nog Safe journey back!
  13. Thanks Jean Bit misty but ready to set off when Mrs Nog has scraped off the ice Make note to self - get can of de-icer....
  14. One was us! Nice to have a chat too Proper Broads weather on the inside of the windows this morning
  15. Certainly am Lady M Looking at the tides probably Thursday Down your Manor for a visit to the Caxton Club
  16. Tower Bridge this time Simon
  17. That was is it! Very good beer and warm fire too! December really is the best time to be out of all
  18. The Lodge was something of a real ale oasis back in the day. Run by the same landlord who had the ill fated Bure Court if memory serves. The couple who ran the Bell did indeed offer lifts. Forget their names now but nice friendly folk.
  19. The Silverline boats at Richardsons. Many thanks to Sally-Ann Bennett for permission to use the photo
  20. Cheers Andy, yes thinking about you when we were chatting with Stephanie. Glad you are enjoying Bridgecraft and you do indeed feel almost part of the family, the sort of personal service you will never get from the bigger yards. I've looked over Chelsea, very nice boat and as you say good access with the flatter stern. We like the Humber as it just has that little extra space but would happily hire either. Glad you enjoyed the White Horse too. Top pub, we were in last Wednesday. Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!
  21. Hi Andy we're on Tower this time, have the Humber one in winter. Would have given you a toot but didn't spot you quickly enough. It was quite busy through Yarmouth, we're used to having it to ourselves in winter!
  22. Thanks Helen, quite missed you when we were crossing Breydon!
