Following the fitting of Mains power to my boat, I asked a question on another Broads website, about the fitting of Anodes. The response was great, and it was also suggested that I fit a Galvanic Isolator. Well, I looked on several different websites, and each of these showed their wares, great I thought, but they advertised the isolators showing different values, ie. various Amps. Now, is there a certain formula I should follow, or is there someone who can describe the differences to me, and what should I purchase. As of yet, I have no idea what the Rudder,Shaft, or Propeller are actually made of as I haven't had the boat out of the water to check on sizes etc. The boat is GRP, with a Diesel Inboard engine, a Seamaster 27 in fact, with a through the hull shaft to propeller. I've come over to this site really to get as many comments as possible, so as to make the correct purchases.I have also read the previous thread on the subject of Anodes, very interesting. Hiya Lori, After doing a spell of Genealogy, I found to my surprise, that a whole load of my ancestors have either been building, working on,or sailing on boats and ships. So I now know where my love boats came from. Bless 'em all. Baz

To be perfectly honest, I can't get under PH bridge, even with a Seamaster 27, but I'm not bothered at all, as really, Hicking Broad doesn't hold any fascination for me anyway. The rest of the Broads has so much more to offer. The reason I can't get under the bridge, is that my windscreens don't lay flat, and this makes it just a bit too high. To be honest again, I doubt that the boat will even be able to get under Wroxham, never tried, but as I know what's above the bridge, I'm quite happy to stay downstream of it. If going for a rear cockpit type of boat, great, but be sure the windscreens fold flat, they could make the world of difference. Baz

Just to add, I have obviously replaced the mop with a new one, But this one is now well marked with the boats name and reg number in permanent marker, and not left on the roof either. Once bitten, twice shy eh. Regards Baz

How about this then. Last season, I had an old deck mop stolen from off the boat. I know it was my fault for leaving it there in the first place, but an old mop, I ask you. Baz

AJB, can't really argue with that can I Rod and a few more, your comments fit my own criteria exactly. My boat, upwards of 40 years old, does everything I want, at the moment. My wife doesn't come to the Broads anymore, and that's her choice, so as said, my boat does all for me. I can of course see the benefits of having extra room, made up bed, shower room and so on, but at the moment, I can slum it by using a sleeping bag, using site showers and sitting in my cockpit if I want to, and this I find very restful. I still like the Alphcraft 31 though, very nice. Regards all Baz

Rag and Stick, no way, nothing against them, but not for me. I do like the Alphacraft 31 though. Now that boat would do me great. Not though, according to a friend, a " proper " boat, but all one level, and loads more room to swing the cat in, and a bed that's made up all the time, lovely, but, I still love my "proper" boat. Hi all, I read somewhere that a boat should look like a boat, you know, a real boat,rear steer, rear cockpit and so on. My boat actually falls within those parameters, and I love it, a real boat I might say, but, and it's a big but, it's crossed my mind occasionally to go for one of those " bathtub" type boats, with a level floor in order to be able to bring my wife and my dogs with me when I come to the Broads. At present, my wife doesn't like the " normal" type boat as it has steps etc., and I don't think she would come to the Broads that often anyway, so I'm going to keep my "normal" boat. Does anyone think that their boat is not normal, ie, a bathtub, not my wording you must realize, and would they really prefer a "normal" type of boat, remembering of course the issue of possible problems with bridges. Just a thought, and does anyone have their own thoughts on the subject. Regards Baz

Roughly 2 1/2 hrs, and approx. 130 miles from RM18, depending of course on how the A12,A140, and A47 perform. When I eventually have to leave Stalham, I will admit, it's a bit of a wrench. Baz

Hi all, As I live about 3 hours away by car, I find it quite difficult at times to get to the boat in Broadsedge especially these last couple of weeks due to snow and ice. What I'm hoping for, is someone who has been to the marina, in the snow, and taken some pictures. I would have loved to see Broadsedge in the snow, and was hoping if it would be at all possible for those pictures to be emailed to me. I would be most grateful. Many thanks Baz

Hiya w44nty, Appreciate your comments, and I too think that the fish is paramount, and to be protected as much as possible, it is after all, just a hobby to us all. My other hobby also includes the making of Pike Lures, which follow the time honored tradition of using 1,2, or 3 treble hooks, this does not mean to say that they are used with said hooks. All the hooks are easily removed and replaced, with, as you say, a single hook, and again I agree with you that a treble can be "barbaric". Fishing light can be very enjoyable, which I have done a fair amount,but, making sure that the fish you are after, Pike, can be landed safely, without the hook trace etc breaking and allowing the fish to get away, with of course the broken end tackle, not too pleasant for the fish, it's therefore a case of getting your tackle right, judgement eh. Oh, and by the way, today is the official opening day of the Pike fishing season. I know some places don't recognize a close season for Pike, but in general, today is the day, all the way through to the 1st March 2011 Baz
