  1. If you look on the wherry webcam and select old boat yard I believe that is the Hamton site. Mark
  2. Not sure who is in charge, I had better ask Matron .
  3. Judging by my attempt to get into Little Venice, ( upstream ) today I doubt that Gracie had any luck viewing this weekend, waders or dinghy required still on the Medway. Mark
  4. Little Venice in Yalding has been evacuated again, 5th time since Christmas day.
  5. Hi Grace, it was flooded last time and it must beclose again.
  6. Hi Grace, sad to say Little Venice has flooded again, so far the site has not been evacuated, but the pontoons are not accessible. Regards Mark
  7. I think (hope) this is all hype by the newspapers. Our marina owners spent years and 100k to get permission to expand the number of moorings, good luck trying to get thousands of homes in the area. Only a small area is prone to flooding and we do need to build housing somewhere. Regards Mark
  8. Nice one John, if ever get to be a gentleman I would love one. Regards Mark
  9. Finally managed to get onto the pontoons yesterday, the river levels have fallen but mud and damage is everywhere. The clean up has started and the flooded cars and vans cleared. Lifted the floor hatch to find the bilge full to just under the floor. The power blew on Christmas eve and seems to have damaged the charger to the domestic batteries. Being a Calypso, some rain drains into the bilge and is cleared by the pump, that is if the batteries hold out. The batteries were dead as a dodo. Bucket and saucepan put into use and 60 buckets later the batteries had enough charge to run the bilge pump to drain the last bits of water out. That was fun. New pump and float fitted , batteries charging with new charger and wd40 sprayed all over. Thank goodness for a handy supply of backup parts on board. New tarpaulin and ropes on order. Isn't boat ownership fun.. Regards Mark.
  10. Jon, have you thought about making a claim for your ankle, where there's blame there's a claim. Oh look, that was post number 50 ...
  11. Fingers crossed, waders at the ready for Saturday. Regards Mark
  12. Just seen my boat on the news, good old Norfolk bath tub to th mid right side at the end of the pontoons. The site is devastated, hoping to get down on Saturday and help with the clean-up. The river level is still high and rising. Regards Mark
  13. Since the change to digital I don't always remember to point the aerial in the right direction or even extend it up and still get a good signal. Before the switch, in the same location the signal was non existent. Regards Mark
  14. Or better still, #dontuseit #cantuseit #dontwanttoknowhowtouseit
  15. Thanks Mark and Jon, we are at BGM and have bit of room to manoeuvre and only fire up when next door is out. Cold showers are but a distant memory, not had one since I was a lad and the electrickery hadn't been connected. Mark
  16. The problem is only on days like this when we stay moored and Matron wants a shower, not been out and she would get wetter walking back from the shower block than she would in the shower. Mark
  17. Little Venice at Yalding has been devastated, the flood water rose to 10 feet in the caravan park. The vans are all on floats that can go to 12 feet, unfortunately some over balanced and slid off. When people were being taken out in boats they bumped over the roofs of submerged cars. The boat moorings seem to have been ok as they also float to 14 feet. The whole site is covered with mud but at least no one was hurt. I am hoping to get access to my boat when I get back from The Broads on Thursday. Ironic that we are having really low tides on The Yare at the moment and have to get onboard via the roof at times. Regards Mark
  18. HI, I don't have anyway of fitting an immersion heater without changing the colorifier , might be on next year's list to do but in the mean time I do need to heat water when we stay on the mooring, fortunately we don't see much of our neighbours. Mark
  19. Hi all, I have a nanni raw water cooled engine that also heats the hot water. Will the water heat up quicker with high or low revs, this is obviously when on the mooring and not at Un sociable times. Any thoughts Regards Mark
  20. What is the point of Witter, seems to be celebrity broadcasting. Who cares
  21. Hi Jon, I do enjoy your tales, keep up the good work. When I have some time I will have to get my passport out and come Up North and have a look at your yard and see if it matches the picture I have in my head. Have a good Christmas and New Year Regards Mark
  22. What great idea, about time. People have the choice to not use it, but judging by the number of threads on WiFi access I suspect it will be popular.
  23. Lori, King Canute tried to hold back the sea, without success. Hopefully the planners now take note of flood plains and coastal areas at risk and insist on appropriate designs.
  24. Hi Norfolknog, I am at BGM today, the levels are high but not topping over and not expected to. Has been very high past two evenings when it did flood over the bank apparently. Mark
  25. Tall wellies, early start and a long drive. International Rescue are off to Brundall in Thunderbird 8 .
