  1. I am In Walderslade area. Never managed to escape far as my businesses are based in the area and old and young family are all nearby.
  2. Hi Jon, Time to dive back into work, it does help, a bit. I keep finding that I think, I must give them a call and tell them ..... The kids and grandchildren being about help as the little ones are at an age where they are getting hyper. Raise a glass on Christmas day to him .
  3. Hylander, I remember Hempstead Valley when it was woodland with a beautiful glade of oak trees. Since the opening of Bluewater, Hempstead Valley is much nicer now.
  4. Grace, you know what these small villages are like. . We were married at 17 and 18, thirty five years ago. And they said it wouldn't last. We have only stayed together to prove them wrong.
  5. I come from Rochester area but dated and married a Hempstead girl from the age of 13 . We spent a lot of time in Hempstead, when it was a small village. I undertake surveys all over Kent and get to visit lots of small quaint villages.
  6. I know Kingswood well, lovely village. A lot of small villages used to do this sort of thing as well as maypole dancing and fireworks. Sadly a lot of small villages have become Big villages and have lost these traditions.
  7. Welcome Paul and Mary, look forward to enjoying your tales without having to " change channels "
  8. Anyone remember the Phillips Laserdisc. I also remember watching Princess Anne's first wedding, in colour on a posh friends brand new colour television.
  9. Whereabouts on the Mudway do you keep it Mark?. Up at Little Venice Yalding. Nice, but not the Broads.
  10. Having moved our Calypso from Norfolk to the Medway, we were staying with a friend in Norfolk. I managed to convince Matron to have a look at a Topliner that was listed at NYA nearby in Brundall. And the rest is history, as they say. After three seasons, I still can't justify selling either of them. : )
  11. Straight through the Dartford crossing, no queues, sailed through the newly opened A11, and on a Friday afternoon. I am very impressed. 2 hours 15 minutes from Kent, normally takes 2 and a half hours late evening and nearer 3 and a half on a Friday afternoon.
  12. Hi Alan, I hope your spare time next year will be spent afloat on the Broads
  13. That sound like south Kent, nearly in the water.
  14. Alan, when you finish, I have a few jobs you and Dave can do to stop you getting bored
  15. When do I have to stop snarling at the teenage little s#ds who start singing ( badly ) " we wish you a merry Christmas " when I open the door. I think it's justified up until the 24th December. The 6th December and they were lucky to get away with a curt , " come back Christmas eve when you have learnt the words and have had some singing lessons. Bar humbug
  16. "Organising a p#ss up in a brewery "springs to mind. It must have been a bit like interweb dating.
  17. All of the above. There are lots of other, non canal, inland waterways including the river Medway. I quite like an electronic version and I guess distribution is easier and sometimes free. I can't see much future for print copies as has been witnessed with MBM and AA. The new online MBO seems to be doing well and is a good read. I used to have PBO MBM and AA. Now I just have MBO on download. It wasn't the cost, it was more the content that stopped me having AA and PBO and sadly the demise of MBM. Good luck if you decide to launch a new magazine, I will certainly give it a try.
  18. My thoughts are with you Jon, my mum passed away today. A sad but inevitable time.
  19. Don't forget to remember you stuck a rag in the exhaust
  20. Hi Alan, if you are in Brundall, Brundall Gardens is worth a look, most the work is finished now and is looking very plush and the price is competitive for the area.
  21. I recently had professional dealings with this organization. When asked what the scope of the work was I was told by the frontline bod on the ground, " everything, we have loads of money". None of the work involved birds but was more about feathering the office nest. That says a lot about the organization.
