  1. ok thanks i have now received all the extra fitting parts off the supplier cheap chap but slow postage (took 2 weeks to get everything here) but i'll give him his dues he did apologise and sent me a short length of exhaust and a piece of rubber hose for the water so i think thats the stuff thats usually used to i'll give it a try all i've got to do now is figure out how to fit the thing amazing all the info instructions etc none of them actually explain how to fit them lol i am still in need of a header tank unless i don't need it????? these seem to be really expensive for some reason and i presume they work like a toilet system ie with a ball float valve? otherwise how will more water get in if needed strange things these ebby's lets just hope it works well and doesn't let me down on a freezing cold night one other question pls i bought a twin calorifier also for the water i have a big ford diesel 6valve engine any ideas on how to connect it to the calorifer? as you can tell i've never done one of these before but i'll keep you informed along the way and see how we go thanks for all the help so far this place is so invaluable keep up the good work
  2. i suppose your talking about some rubber hosing like on a cars cooling system? and some jubilee clips etc you'd think that because so many of these units go into boats these days they'd have something all made for you lol looks like a trip to a car accessory shop with heater and a piece of 22mm pipe is in order then thanks
  3. i now have my ebby at last i spoke to the tech guy at ebeerspacher and he said i need to run a 22mm ring for my rads trouble is the pipe outlets on the unit aren't 22mm has anyone done this before if so what do i use to connect the 22mm speedfit pipe onto the unit i think they are about 19mm with a bulbous end
  4. i can add that the auto ones work brill i had a hirer fell off the back of one of the hire boats at WRC the weekend and his jacket went **** straight away why o why do ppl insist on standing on the outside of the boats when you tell them NOT to at least he was wearing the life jacket
  5. i've tried the mixture in all places didn't make a lot of difference at all lol baffling me i can tell you
  6. mmmmmmm lol that was NO mistake lol : its cleaning up well tho
  7. I bought a little dingy the weekend for a very reasonable price lol the outboard on it is fairly new a 2003 model the people i got it from are the sort that money is no object they always have loads of work done on their normal boat anyway the outboard is playing up big time it started 1st time but ran rough, very rough it has been stood for at least a year in their garage with no fuel in.... she started fine when cold but as soon as she got hot she cut out and wouldn't start anyway we stripped the carb out and cleaned it and cleaned the plug. still no joy so i have put a new plug in stripped the carb apart completely and cleaned it with carb cleaner put some redex only a capfull in the tank (tank is only 1l) and half filled the tank ran it and ran and its loads better but at anything more than half revs it is really rough but if you pull the choke very slightly it really improves it for a short while but after a time it seems to die again so you back the throttle off and she's fine she ticks over brill and starts now hot or cold on the 1st pull so its only the high end revs i would suspect fuel starving but as i have cleaned it 3 times i can't see how the jet is clean as a whistle been sprayed and poked and all sorts lol its not the cooling as its air cooled and not water any ideas please
  8. woo hoo : lucky you i just can't wait to get mine running well done mate you must be really proud
  9. i have bought a rudder gauge and sender does anyone know how to fit these in plain normal english lol reading the instructions it doesn't really tell you a lot and what is there i reckon has been written by a politician i understand the wiring side thats easy apart from it doesn't tell you the gauge of the wire the sender is about 15 foot from the gauge i was going to use 2mm maybe 2.5mm i presume thats thick enough but anyway as to the sender lol its probable really easy but looks complicated i have twin rudders thanks
  10. i think you should do something like the live help most sites do lol if ever i need to know anything i might just pm you to save time lol thanks again bud much appreciated
  11. i knew you'd come to the rescue as always many thanks any ideas where i can get it from around beccles way i have tried asap and they don't do it i suppose i could ask the boatshed on site if they have any
  12. i've just ripped my after cabin / bedroom out and realised the rails and cleats have been leaking badly so they have all been taken off and there was no gaskets on any of them which would explain why they leaked the boat is GRP and the fittings are stainless steel what is a good gasket to use thats readily available? i do have a huge roll of thin rubber in my garage which i used to use on my old cars but not sure it would make a watertight seal. any ideas please
  13. wow what a list lol all i have to do is figure out which one is the best for this unit
  14. thanks antares as always a mind full of useful knowledge i'm lucky enough to have reserved a new unit thankfully for a second hand price so hopefully fingers crossed i won't have any problems with faulty buts for a while yet it would be great tho if i can get some info on heater matrix's etc before i get the actual unit as it'll be like christmas and i won't be able to wait to fit it lol patience is not one of my strong points unfortunately but i am trying to learn
  15. i know because i hunted for it and searched but couldn't find anything lol looks complicated but i have bee assured its easy once you get started we'll see hey
  16. no the only manual i can find is about the d2-d4 not the d5 which is completely dif they are air where as the d5w is water based and not air i have been looking on fleebay for matrix's etc but wondered if anyone has any recommendation to a particular one i know some say the mini but they aren't very adjustable
  17. i've just bought a d5w unit for my boat i am thinking of putting a heater matrix in-line with it i will be running rads off it mainly but just had a thought about having blown air as well has anyone done this? if so can i use a car heater matrix i know eb do one but i also know eb's stuff isn't cheap i just like the idea of having blown air on the screen when driving because once it misted up so bad i had to stop and i'm not sure if there'll be room for a rad once i do the rear cabin/bedroom i'm also after a 22lt roughly twin calorifier if anyone has one knocking about and some info on how to plumb it up to my ford 6cyl dorset engines
  18. i think my best bet is while wayne isn't looking swap them over good job he knows me hey and you know i'm not a norty boy especially after your little offer the weekend
  19. yes i've got most of it apart i'm stuck on the brass drive bar (502) thingy at the mo i have removed the key on the hand winch side (209) but the one on the wheel side looks like it is half under the big brass wheel bit(491)? what lovely descriptions hey lol so put the part no hopefully trouble is all the allen keys are stuck solid as usual and i gather thats the only way to get it apart
  20. thanks for the info just got to figure out how to clean it as well as you can see its pretty grubby lol
