Fridge Wanted

After waking up at OB at the WB meet and finding my breakfast strawberries and bluberries plus other items of food had turned i find myself on the market for a new fridge. One way, two way, three way or anyway fridge will do so long as it works fine.

I was relieved to find that the beer and liquds fridge was still ok so all was not lost.

What size are you looking for? I have an old school 12v/240 compressor fridge in my shed that you can have for £50, it worked ok but not as efficient as the new type 12v compressor fridges (but £600 cheaper), not nearly as bad on 12v than the 3 way fridges mind.

I had this problem just over a year ago, unfortunately you can't replace a Three way fridge which operates on gas/electric when you have your safety certificate done they will have a record of the last fridge you had if it was gas and still working you can keep it, but if you change it it has to be 12 V compressor only, and yes they are very expensive, but there's always a possibility that a second hand one will come up for sale, good hunting.

I'm sure you can still have a 3 way if you have diesel engine as long as the ventilation is up to it, petrol engine is another matter.

Thanks for the offer smoggy but would rather have the 3way ie gas or one of them new fanggled fingie fridges at a resonable cost.

Not exactly the brightest of ideas but that is up to you obviously! Eddy is right about the three way fridges, you can only use the "room sealed" variety of which there are very few. The Waeco/Isotherm/Shoreline are the way to go and be safe!

Thanks for your comments but the boat has had gas fridges for 30yrs so I'm sure a few more won't hurt, personally i think another case of health and safety gone mad. I do have alarms bells and whistles for all sorts of gases so believe it to be quite safe. 

As you say it's my choice 😉

I agree it is quite safe, so long as it was installed properly in the first place and has been properly maintained.  Chimneys need cleaning every spring with a wire brush and ideally jets should also be changed annually. If the pilot light is burning with a blue flame it will be an efficient and safe fridge. If the flame is burning yellow, then the CO can kill you overnight. It has been known.

As you say it's your choice.
