Timbo
Practise manoeuvres before you arrive on the Broads with the aid of a shopping trolley in Tesco. You can also use the shopping trolley technique for practising sailing maneuvers by drinking fourteen pints of Stella Artois before aimlessly staggering from side to side up and down the narrow aisles.
lampini
You did and that's probably the best newbie advice for sailing having seen people try to learn the hard way... Yehbut... The OH and i are on the southern broads for a week in September, and we're thinking about hiring a dingy; he can sail - and i'm a complete noob! Advice? (apart from "wear a lifejacket" - he won't drag me onboard without one!) Where best to go? in advance! dont be scared to ask, most people will only be to happy to offer advise and tips . Bestest advice ever.... J x
Baitrunner
Lampini. The Med. It's warmer when you fall in!! Seriously I would have thought OB the best place for a novice sailor. I am no expert but more space to practice sounds good to me.

Hockham Admiral
Seriously I would have thought OB the best place for a novice sailor. I am no expert but more space to practice sounds good to me. It wouldn't have been on Sunday lunchtime, Mark! :naughty:
