  2. Could not agree more Clive, if it were me having laid out the cash you will have I would have auto 'parking'. I really have never got this Bow thrusters are 'cheating' type argument it is normally promoted by PB's or those that have never had to handle a single engine non keel ship. Probably the bad press is from those hirers who have a penchant for using a BT rather than helm and throttle in 'normal' situations. Me I have still not mastered running a lee shore (bank) in a full gale and managing to move a boat side ways off at 90 degrees If only I was a fully fledged PB it would be so easy
  3. Mmmm funny you should say that it has been something that has been nagging at me for the last couple of days and your post has just set the alarm bells properly ringing With SWMBO hospitalised there was no chance of me getting to the ship so I will have to hope that the heater has taken enough of the 'edge' off for all to be OK. Sea based there is little chance of the water freezing and in three years the engine bay has never got below 7c so fingers crossed.
  4. Sorry Ian I overlooked you asked the original question and just answered the last post
  5. A review you might find of use Strowager http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Revi ... eview.aspx
  6. Ian do you really want to fit one these Joking aside I can see the benefit particularly to know what is your most economic cruising speed. David's set up is very impressive and links through his Raymarine plotter and takes the information from an interface from his engine through some Volvo jiggery pokery. Kiki's Yanmar is not ECU controlled and therefore I could not do the same, I think this could be the same issue for you I looked at fitting something like flow scan but the cost v's the real benefit to me made me shelve for the time being, other stuff more important has priority. I 'm sure David will be along shortly.................................
  7. Very nice Clive - where is the drool emoticon! I was hanging my nose over a Grand Banks Eastbay in the US last week, very similar.
  8. I do still have that 18-200mm Sigma in my armoury Simon and concur with your view. I bought it as a general purpose 'walk around' lens and have been surprised by the image quality. I bought this rather than use my prized L lenses in a Marine environment
  9. Agree the one on the TLC site is the one I use. Used for three winters without an issue and only licks in when the temperature falls below that set so only in use when really needed.
  10. Some don't as you know Your long stick to poke Mr Yanmar has come in very handy
  11. What a great post Rod and just proves there is no substitute for good local expert knowledge, and a Pilot exempt licence is really 'top trump' where that is concerned
  12. Oi he is my personal GY Pilot In the meantime here is a bit more info http://www.eastportuk.co.uk/marine-visiting-small-craft
  13. I better ask Brian if we can have a Blue Hull Offshore section - better class of people you understand
  14. Well done for trying. I think however that the 28 day rule might also scupper it, I suppose if a day is treated as any time you enter the BA area or accumulated time, whoc would monitor I don't know. Still all academic.
  15. I reckon a sweep on the first person to be moderated
  16. Possibly means if you pay Harbour dues to GYPA and then want to enter the Broads the toll would be at a 50% discount. I wonder if GYPA Harbour dues and 50% of Broads Toll work out at less than 100% Broads Toll

  19. Sorry Roy but Brian's response was classic
  20. I have asked him tonight to reveal all now he is no longer searching
  21. I said I don't think you guys were far off most guesses. BUT this boat was picked up for ..... wait for it...........................32k So Mark my advice is have a very close look around the Thames it seems an area where a number of boats can be picked up for the right money. This one was up for over 60K a Fairline Turbo 36 was acquired for just over 30k. The buyer told me there is a Sealine F33 subject of a divorce horribly Green but cosmetic that is going for a song. It is a bit of a microcosm for some reason so I urge you to spread your wings and potentially gain the prize you seek. Happy hunting.
  22. I will give you a bit longer to dig out your hankies.......
  23. 1990 with 210's http://www.ybw-boatsforsale.com/Boats/s ... 2/searchId 1990 with 200's http://www.rightboat.com/Corvette-320-C ... -12062954/ Give it 30 mins and if no further offers I will answer the question
