  1. Trevor, no problems there. You have exactly the thing I had and Col fixed it in a very short time. I'm off to the boat on Sunday for a day on the river and I'll get the name for you.
  2. Trevor, Hi The 240V shore power will be independent of the invertor if it has been wired in correctly. When you connect the shore power it should change a relay over which then allows the shore power to supply your ring main. If this relay isn't working then of course you will trip something because you can't have two alternating current supplies onto on ring (unless you can get them in phase first)... one or the other will trip out. This was happening on our boat when we started the 42Amp diesel generator and were plugged into shore power..(It was designed so that the genny would have priority if I was daft enough to try to run both supplies simultaneously). Col (CT Electricians) brought out his box of tricks and sorted the relay problem out for us. Hope this helps, because if you substitute your invertor for our genny it's the same thing.
  3. Trevor, Hi CT is Colin Thorne, aka Happy Jax3, and he is happy working on boats. If you click on his ad you will see that he has all the necessary qualifications to do any electrical work and to certify it. He covers all the Broads. He has already done work for us on our shore power supply, when he fitted a galvanic isolator in the 230V mains earth lead. He has also wired in 12V auxiliary socket. The workmanship was top-class and he even insisted on cleaning up afterwards! He is also offering 20% discount to Members and you can't say fairer than that!
  4. Glad to see you back! (Hope you got my pm, Stu?)
  5. Looks like a newt, Andy!
  6. Robin & Lori, both. It's guys like you who make me realise just how lucky Mary-Jane an I are to still have our health and the opportunity to ramble around the Broads, at will, for weeks on end. It really is an enchanting place! Now off up the Yare with the tide to wherever we go... (at 05.30!)
  7. Jeff, hello again. I've just spoken to Jonzo (an Administrator) and he tells me: "We're kind of between flag designs at the moment though. We'd need to get someone artistic to set the new logo onto a burgee". That will, hopefully, be put into action when our logo-design guru returns from holidays next week... Unless, someone out there has a good idea for a design?
  8. Chip, Hi. I have removed the Advanced Member title where I can find it and substituted it with the correct one. Please feel free to pm me if you spot any more!
  9. Do you mean these, please, Andy: Marine Dual Purpose Batteries (Starting and Deep Cycling) SEALED MAINTENANCE FREE (SMF) DUAL PURPOSE MARINE BATTERIES The SMFDCM range of Deep Cycle Dual Purpose batteries are Sealed Maintenance Free Calcium/Calcium design (no need to add water) with inbuilt ceramic disc flame arrestors to protect against accidental battery explosion from an external spark. The SMFDCM range of Lion Dual Purpose (Starting and Deep cycle) Marine batteries provide solutions for Marine users who are seeking extended hours of cycling and strong starting , through a larger capacity (AH) and higher cranking (CCA) battery.
  10. Jeff, Hi We don't have such a calendar because it was thought that it could compromise home security. When you reach 50 posts you will be invited to Full Membership and in the Members Area you will find that peeps do give indications of their intentions. As to the sign showing Forum Name, here's how we do it (but I'll speak to Admin and ask for a logo that could be made into such a sign for your boat windows).
  11. Sihod, Hi. Welcome aboard from us. Do you have a name we can use? , John
  12. Which small rotary polisher do you recommend, pls, Mark?
  13. Not so, Jupes. I was talking to Steve Wright (the local BA Ranger) today and he told me he only pasted the "Restricted" bit over the "Free Moorings" recently. If you look closely at the pic you can see that.
  14. Do you have any of those dual-purpose batteries, Andy? (i.e. leisure/starting)
  15. Quite so! I think that Seppings in Hungate is the best butchers I've been in...anywhere! (Their Chip-Shop sausages are the biz!). I also dropped into the Kings head, as Paul suggested: 12 different real ales! Adnams May Day & Ghost Ship (I had one of each for lunch) Parity Mad Moose, 4.2% Blindman's Golden Spring, 4% Matilda's revenge, 4.3% Mild Mayhem 3.5% Titanic Mild Wherry & Ruddles Best All at £2.29 And for those who like the stronger ales, Abbot, Nog and Marston's Old Empire at 5.7%! (if it wasn't pouring down with rain I'd be cycling up there now )
  16. Well they've got to moor somewhere if they want to visit Beccles!... In the pic above there are two yachts and one quite old "expensive high boat". No-one has said anything about lowering masts... some Yotties just want to visit Beccles as well!
  17. Unfortunately I've cut off that part... 24 hours as usual.
  18. Here are a few pics of the new restricted moorings at Beccles. They are situated just before you pass under the new road bridge coming up-river to Beccles. Please note that they are "Restricted" and that overnight moorings are available 100 yards on under the bridge. The BA Ranger has issued written warnings this week.....
  19. That's truly impressive, Clive! :clap
  20. BTW, info for Luke, Claire, Peter and Elaine: "The moorings immediately before Beccles New Bridge are restricted moorings. They are for boats which cannot pass under the bridge. If any boats, private or hire, which can get under are moored there you may ask them to move... if they decline then tell them that a fixed price fine will be levied by the BA patrol (some have been in the last week) and report them to BA Control". This directly from the HM at Beccles, talking to the BA Patrol this week. There are also two moorings directly on the other side of the river which have the same restrictions
  21. I've just come out of the Harbour Office and Tim tells me the following peeps have booked... if you don't book with Beccles then there won't be a space guaranteed because I can't reserve you a slot!
