  1. Hi Alan, Agreed, but for auld codgers like me, just a bit too high out the water to step on n off. Iain.
  2. To translate for Gracie....Kludgie or Cludglie or Shunkie means heads or loo! A guid Scots wurd that Alex lol Iain.
  3. I was fortunate enough to go through the bridge on my first ever trip to the Broads. Charlie Crowe was the Hoseasons Pilot then, and my hire boat was Sun Glory from Porter & Haylett. It was a windy day, always is up at Potter Heigham anyway Sun Glory was 6ft 6" air draft on the sign at the helm. Having missed the pilot mooring, numpty, thats me, should have turned the boat round to moor up, the wind had pushed me passed the pick up point, he had one on the wooden houses down on the port side before Herbert Woods. Anyway old Charlie took us through with about half an inch to spare....so he said, and told us what time to be back the next day. I am telling all of you this, for those who have NEVER been above the bridge. IF your boat cannot get through that hole, HIRE a day boat and go and enjoy the beauty that is Hickling Broad etc. I have been through many times in the 70/80/90s but only once since the Millenium. Iain Me on Sun Glory taking in the rays!
  4. Regarding the old thunder boxes peeps, wasn't it Hampton Boats that designed them? Or am I talking a right load of.... yes maybe I am! Iain.
  5. Hi Steve, Thank you for your latest update on your holi/shake down cruise. I hope the stat is going to behave itself now, and all runs well on your next trip out tomorrow. Iain.
  6. Or a KEY heading if its near a lock Iain
  7. Imagine drinking on the Broads, Geoff, unthinkable! Sounds like you and many others, me included, are hooked on the River Ant! Keep the Tale coming please Iain
  8. Should that not be a "water day" Neil Iain.
  9. Will that mean the Brinks Rhapsody electric boat gets the 30% discount also? Iain.
  10. Hi Geoff, Thank you for your kind remarks. Yes, I have always lived life to the full, especially when I played my sports, of cricket and golf. I have my places marked out where I will hopefully use my scooter. I was a model railway enthusiast - still am - when younger, so hope to go and see the layouts at Wroxham/Hoveton. The one place where the scooter will be tested out, is going up the hill from the YS at Beccles! I will have my lappy with me, so hopefully will give you all a few updates where we are moored. Iain.
  11. You really have to concentrate ALL the way across Breydon, watching those posts. You are remember, going faster than at any other place on the Broads, so maybe the reason folks go outside those posts, by not looking properly where they are heading. Just a thought. Iain
  12. Oh how true Eric, done that one many times! Only five more sleeps till arrive at Stalham ...four to Kings Lynn. Not that I am counting them down Iain
  13. I went over that Porter&Haylett bridge on several occasions. For anyone who is a wee bit scared of heights, must have found it a bit scarey! Iain
  14. Hi Brian, I looked at the Luggie also, but felt £500 was enough for now to pay for a Travel Scooter. The Renault Scenic boot is big and we can still fit soft items in and around the chassis part. The battery will sit behind my drivers seat on the floor. Also the seat behind me, so just the motor and chassis in the boot. I discovered another bit of space where the spare wheel would be, and being with Motability I don't need to worry about punctures and such like. Maybe one day I will look into purchasing a Luggie. Iain
  15. Oye Jeff, I have feelings you know . Anyway, I may just be a superstar on Road wars, so there! Iain
  16. Hi Alan, The battery is good for approx 13 miles, so unless I climb a lot of hills which are a bit thin in Norfolk I should get by without any charge at all. I can carry the charger unit in a pocket on my seat, so I could ask in a pub say if they would mind I give Scoot a top up. I would of course offer payment for that. IF Broadway has a shore lead I would imagine I can charge it on board. If not I will find a way I am sure. Iain.
  17. Brilliant Tim I want one!!!....Err the PLANE I mean I do a very sedate 4mph i'll have you know! Iain
  18. JM, "Baiting" I think being very much.... kiddieonie! yes ! I just reivented that word! Iain
  19. Hi Geoff, Yep all things ok with the Scooter, thank you. I can walk ok, just somedays the backache and arth in my lags makes movement a bit awkward shall we say. I won't let these ailments hold me back from a holiday, that I look forward to so much. Iain.

  22. One of those Turtle Knot thingies! Iain
  23. Hi Mark, My body needs the upgrade first! Yes it could be, my lappy, mind you its only a year n a bit old. Iain.
