  1. They are proper grafters Polly, that is for sure! Not frightened to get their hands dirty. Iain.
  2. Hi Geoff, If you had walked along to the left at Dilham, you would have seen an unusual bowling green behind the Cross Keys pub. The reason its unusual is....its on a slope! Take a look by car in September if you can, its not far by car from Wroxham./Hoveton. Iain.
  3. Griff>>> Norty Yorkie frae Donnyshire or sumthin like that Iain
  4. Hmmm interesting. Would be interested in their reply. Thanks for that TrevorandDeirdre Iain.
  5. I use disabled toilets, and use my own personal RADAR Key for access. I have used that key all over the UK and abroad. So I am lucky, in the respect I don't require to pay. However, I WOULD gladly pay to see the facility reopened, OR being disabled am I suppose to go into Acle or Gt Yarmouth proper ? As for France, without a doubt PARIS has a brilliant plumbing system, with many space ship type public toilets, even in areas like Monmartre! Iain
  6. Hi Alan, Agreed, it would have saved me a fair few quid I guess also. On the other hand, it is nice to be able to try other craft, and see how they shape up. Iain.
  7. Sorry Jasper, its the American software wat does it! Iain.
  8. Come to Gt Yarmouth for a holiday, but, for godsake DON'T Drink or EAT as there are little or NO places to put rubbish or err you know what! Great advert for a "Holiday Resort" hmmmmm. Iain.
  9. Hi All, I wrote to BDC who forwarded my mail to Gt Yarmough BC this is their reply. Your email to Broadland District Council in respect of the closure of the public toilets at Acle Bridge has been forwarded to me to reply. I note your concerns. The provision of public toilets by local authorities is not a statutory responsibility. Whilst recognising the importance of maintaining vital services the Council has had to take a number of difficult decisions to help balance the budget in these extremely difficult financial times. The decision to close some of the public toilets was not one taken lightly. All public toilets in the Borough were considered by a cross party group of Councillors before the list of possible closures was arrived at. However, I can inform you the Council has approached local businesses who benefit from the provision of the toilets to try and arrive at a solution that will see the toilets reopen, perhaps under private ownership. That work is continuing. Regards Glenn Buck Environmental Services Group Manager Great Yarmouth Borough Council Telephone: 01493 846413 E-mail: gb@great-yarmouth.gov.uk So now you have the latest update! Iain.
  10. HI Paul, I agree what you are saying. For me living over 400 miles away and believe me as a family it was discussed in great detail in the late 70's early 80's of buying rather than hiring. However, it would at best have been 4/5 weeks a year as no way in the winter off season would one drive down from up North. Hence a 100 hires plus later we still hire. Basic logistics I guess. Iain.
  11. Hi dnks34, I looked into ownership 30 plus years ago. That is why I still hire today! BTW well done 50 posts! Iain
  12. Hi David, Thank you for your kind wishes. Yes, April weather can be changeable. But only 10 minutes aint too bad steering below. The forecast is looking better for next week. All forms of weather gear will be packed though, just as a precaution! Have a safe journey home. I look forward to seeing pics and your Holiday Review. Iain.
  13. Hi All, As a hirer, its not till you have a debate like this, you see the pros n cons, the twists n turns of boat ownership. Is there the perfect solution to the cost of Tolls? I doubt it, but I suppose you can never say never. Iain.
  14. Hi Steve, Thank you for your holiday and workshop tales. The twice I have heard a boat engine go dead, is farmers rope round the prop! Grrrr. Thankfully, it was not that in your case. Hopefully you find the root of the nagging problem soon. Iain.
