  1. While working in a Record and Card shop in Ayr, they had just taken arrival of a stock of Betamax tapes, word got about as it does, she sold the complete stock in the one day! There was a trading reason in Japan for VHS overpowering Beta, but I cannot remember just now why. For what its worth, I still think the Philips V2000 system would have been the best given the chance. Iain
  2. Hi Alan, I found it knew had seen it in a brochure, I think a tad too big though. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S79896369/ Iain.

  7. I remember when Barnes had those boats, always convinced they looked a lot more than 12ft wide. Very sad indeed to see what remains of it. Iain.
  8. I have grown the whiskers in the past. Mostly in winter when working on building sites, and playing winter golf at the coast. The growing is the easy bit, the removal can be, and is OUCH! Oh I have though had a tash since the late 70's, so have a start for a beard Iain.

  14. Hi Alan, If the lady likes culinary delights, then I aint surprised she has remained here in Troon. Its a good sheltered marina also. Initialy set up by Robin Knox Johnson. We are very fortunate here that we have some excellent eating places. Also, the odd posh hotel or two. Troon is a time warp place, very little has changed, even since my young days when I came to play in a golf tournament. Iain.
  15. That was the word I said to Dave Pipe at Astons, Loddon,YUK! I also was told it was Hoseasons to blame. Iain.
  16. Hi Grace and Alan, NEVER believe a word the Daily Mail says about up here It has a circulation of about 500 copies at best! If I get a nice clear day over the Firth of Clyde to Arran and there is snow on Goat Fell I will get the camera out and snap a few pics. As I live in the gulf stream, snow here is a rare commodity at best of times. IF however we do get a fall here, it usually means the rest of the UK grinding to a halt! I have seen it deep up the A9 at Aviemore and beyond and over at Breamar. Also where my Sister in Law lives, Linlithgow, although not far from Edinburgh, it appears to kop big time quite often in the winter months. I think the Mail meant possibly 3 to 5ft drifts up North of Perth say. The place I have seen it change rapidly is in Glencoe. Its heating on, nice n toasty, and SWMBO has just decreed it time for instant Christmas Decos in the hoose! Iain
