She certainly looks good but..... When that moors up it will take up nearly 2 ordinary size boat mooring spots! The other side of the coin is it may well prove a job to find a mooring in most places during the busier season. Just my opinion, but that is too long for the amount of boats out during said season.

Hi Matt. You get everywhere don't you If the tides allow at the time then yes I'll follow you through. Will probably be about when you collect ES anyway. The Wroxham gauge showed 7' 5" once last year but I couldn't afford the time to go through.

Just to clarify, the bridge pilot at Wroxham, they will only take craft from the hire fleets through! I even offered to pay them but they said that Loynes (who now have control of the pilots)wouldn't let them. The gauge on Avalon says 6' 10", but I measured it at 6' 8", but would like someone with more experience of our type of boat to take her through before I do it! The pilot says try it at 7' 2" and she will go through ok. I need to go through as we do miss that stretch of river a lot. We went under Beccles with the gauge reading 6' 10" and had at least 4" to spare and more like 6" and it is common knowledge that the Wroxham gauge is about 3" short!

What a thing to happen! When we visited our boat a few weeks ago we found the domestic batteries flat! On checking it seems the float switch had gummed up enough to keep it running too. Fortunately, there was little water in the bilge to cause a problem. I do know of one boat that had a similar problem but the stern gland was leaking quite a bit. Trouble was that the bow drooped with the weight and they had a Bow Thruster which was rendered useless by it and they had to have a new one. Fortunately for us, the owner of the boat right next to us keeps an eye on her for us as he visits every day! Thank heaven for friends! Bill.
