  1. You mind you don't over do it John 3/4hr cruise...good heavens.. We are planning to overnight at Somerleyton as it'll be around 20.30hrs by then and it will have been a long day, what with the drive down to Wroxham (2 1/4hrs) and the cruise down, (about 8hrs), I'll be ready for a nap! We will be in Beccles around 10.30ish Friday morning. Laptop already packed! PS. Hope the posts are up and running by then! Don't want to have to run the engine up to keep the batteries charged and I'm sure i'll not be the only one. Last posting tomorrow as leaving here Wednesday mid afternoon.
  2. Looks great for sure! Will be looking out for her from 16th when we are out for 10 days. Would love to see some interior photo's now she's finished. Hope she looks as good after her first weeks outing!
  3. Hi John. Griff has just been up there the whole way about a week ago and no problems except it got pretty shallow at the end and he felt BA touching bottom. That was at low water by the way. Good luck and look forward to the photo's.
  4. Just to Add. This is NOT Clive bashing, or any other yard. It just need someone to start stamping out this antisocial behaviour in an area thats supposed to be 'magical'.
  5. Unfortunately I think the article was more or less spot on. Talking to friends who also own boats on the Broads, we all believe that the amount of drunken parties and roudyism is getting more prevelent this last 2 or 3 years. We witnessed what was a truely drunken 2 boat party of lads at Stokesby 3 weeks ago that took at least 20mins to get moored up. After the sound of cracking fibreglass, 2 boats near to them untied and left despite the time getting on for 20.00hrs. We were far enough away to be able to ignore them but the volume of the radio and the shouting was not easy to ignore never the less! We later came upon them at Norwich YS were they had been warned by the HM about their antics, and then again at Oulton Broad where they moored outside the pub and were still at it. Then again as we exited Breydon going up the Bure under the first bridge where they were coming down towards us sideways! They only just managed to get control and avoid hitting us right under the bridge!! Then they headed for Breydon at full throttle. And they were still drinking beer..This was the worst case we've seen this year but I'm sure there were many others having seen the crews going past with the beer cans lined up on the dash that were not actually being consumed. And not all lads either... We have begun to wonder if it's worth all the hassle. It's not the Broads as I knew it nor as I want it to be.
  6. I wonder what Antares_9 will have to say about that? On a previous thread(viewtopic.php?f=68&t=9413) I gather he wouldn't believe what I posted..... Thanks John. Edited to add link(I hope!)
  7. Glad it turned well in the end. Some engine problem then if they had to do an engine change! 3 hours is not bad going to do the job either!
  8. We saw her 2 weeks ago near Burgh Castle with her mudweight down and drifting in the current! Just as we came round the bend and saw her, Griff on BA was approaching her and apparently the engine just died. He took her in tow to St Olaves where someone from Moonfleet were meeting them. Apart from that, she looked in good nic which you would expect from Moonfleet!
  9. John, price was £1.10 Antares, I can only report what I was told! Surely if a supplier has diesel left in their tanks then they can sell the stuff? eg. Boulters until its all gone.
  10. We filled up at Boulters last Saturday and they still have the Sulphur diesel and according to Sonny, they will try to source more until it's no longer available anywhere. As for putting 2T oil in the tank, My old perkins 4108 does'nt need any help with the smoking issue on start up! and it's in pretty good order too. Others in our marina are far worse by a long way.
  11. Ok. Here is the news..... I'M ON THE LAPTOP! Thanks guys for all the help and we got there in the end. Now I can keep up to date when I'm on the boat which will be quite a lot this year as I retired early at Christmas.
  12. John, thats a good enough reason to come then Funnilly enough, this logged me in with no change to the password! Will try the laptop later. Incidently, the Yarmouth times are not too kind unless you get up really early or finish cruising late! Thursday seem the day we will make our way down. And, I will have the laptop with me!!
  13. Silverline were doing the photo shoot for Haze last week whilst we were there. Another one from France.
  14. Thanks for that guys. Will check again tomorrow.
  15. Ok this is the last time!! I've tried sending PM's to admin and they just end up in the outbox and no-one has come forward to help, so, after this post if I don't get help to sort it out, I'm off here!! Sounds harsh but am now pretty fed up with it.
  16. Ok I'm back from the hols and still can't get on here with the laptop. I'm using IE8 i think....with W7. Can someone in admin please pm me the password I'm using on here? I think I'm using the same one but need to double check! Unfortunately I always put in remember password on new sites and then I forget what it was!! Doh.
  17. Hi all. We called in on way home just to say hi and show our faces. Unfortunately we could'nt stay very long due to commitments at home. Hope the rain wasn't too bad for you all? Thanks to those that met us and made us both feel welcome. With any luck we will get to the Southern meet but again, home commitments will play a part as to wether we make it. . Bill and Jenny.
  18. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME PLEASE WHY i CAN'T lOG IN USING MY LAPTOP? I use the same username and password and get told ive tried too many times! So, Ask for password to be sent which goes on this comp , try it on the laptop and same thing happens!! Using this comp, I still log in using the old password etc. WHAT am I doing wrong? Leaving for the boat early in the morning and wish to use the laptop while there so very frustrated! Thanks.
  19. Hi Matt. Yes I do spend more time there now......Iv'e retired We must be on about the other Moores basin then? Barnes still cannot run the hire boats from there either for the same reasons. But, they can take them over there themselves for storage and I believe there are 3 there at the moment but will be moved soon. It helps them move their boats about easier in their yard. PS. Bridge gauge showing 7' 7" on Friday night! NO... still had to do the final fixing of the additional heating matrix so missed it again But, got it finished and now only minor jobs left to do!
  20. May I just make a correction here? There are No Barnes hirecraft in that marina at all. It was a condition of the licence and planning that NO hirecraft are to use it whatsoever! Matthew Thwaites is well aware of that fact as we continue to tell hire boats to read the notice at the entrance!! There are at present only 2 boats in the marina that are awaiting final sales negotiations and they are the narrow boat "Glaive 2" and the orange caribbian (forgot the name!) from Norfolkboatsales.
  21. Myself and Jenny were sat by the bridge eating a pizza and saw what was happening. He got it wrong with the turn big time, and we first thought he was heading for the Shed! The boat he hit with the bow was a Calypso and belongs to a friend of ours who hadn't been long left it to go into town in the car to get chips for the journey home. I did check it for him later and there was no damage except a scuff mark so lucky really! When we first bought our boat, we were moored on the riverside where the Barnes boat is now and we were "Keen" to get a propper mooring after nearly being hit several times. There proberbly isn't an answer to this as learning helming cannot be done in a few hours even, let alone the time allocated for each boat.
  22. Foresight is a wonderful thing........ Had mother-in-law over this weekend instead of next so that we can go to the Jumble
  23. And always carry a torch! It is really dark down there when the sky is clouded over. It's a good idea to carry one whenever you go out at night on the Broads.
