  1. The boat settled on its port side, the engines on these boats are in the stern at midships so it's highly unlikely the engine was full submerged in water. But I'm with Smoggy on this. I totally believe that engine would run again with a bit of work..
  2. Towed I would imagine, that said with a bit of tinkering around I'm sure that engine would fire up.
  3. Well she's already back at Potter...
  4. Yeas, it was called 🪵...OK OK I'm going....
  5. Relatively straightforward repair tbh as long as theres good access inside, I've seen far worse. Can't imagine that will take to long. A few heat lamps to help the curing process. I would imagine there aim is to just make her water tight and get her back to potter. Will be interesting to see what happens to her, personally I don't think she will be retired these boats are some of the most popular Centre cockpit cruiser on hire. Nice moden upgrade would be good maybe re name her and put her back to work all shinny and newish..
  6. I'm sure fleet operators would love to eliminate the use of gas on all hire boats. Barnes have to some extent with the use of there electric oven, hobs and microwave etc. Friends of ours hire brinks tempo every year and find in can be problematic if unable to get a hook up. Who remembers the days of wall mounted gas space heater, jeez how dangerous would they be deemed in todays world.
  7. I wasn't sure, i looked at hiring swan ranger a few years back when richardsons first acquired the Swan boats. I'm sure I saw pictures of radiators. I could be wrong.
  8. Not quite sure how woods building team is set up. But wouldn't this be a good project for your apprentices to work on over the winter. Stick the boat in a corner of a shed somewhere on the yard and let them work through the re fitting. Plenty of time between now and the new season.
  9. Agreed, it's was great not having to run the engine to get hot water. Suncharm must be a good 15 odd years old now at a guess, surely technology has come on since then and there's a much user friendly system available now.
  10. Suncharm certainly did and it worked really well at 1st, instant hot water in the morning heated tail rail in shower etc.. hired her a few times when she was new. It's was all taken out for the reasons you've stated. I personally never found it difficult to operate.Only downside for me, the heating system was behind the helm area and it was quite loud. Don't quite a few of the ex swancraft fleet richardsons now own have radiator heating ??
  11. Absolutely no idea how long they last Andrew, guess it all depends on how much there used. I have to say the heating system on the rc 45 ( broadsman class boats ) is fantastic. Not so sure about the centre cockpit area tho during the early late season.
  12. Agreed, but I fancy Vaughan was right and that is going to spend the winter in the build shed being re fitted. Which in a way could be a good thing as most these boats have the original galleys etc still in place. Good chance to upgrade things.
  13. I'm not sure if it's just me that feels this way, but again another example of over zealous moderation. Grendal I know the job isn't easy but there was absolutely no reason to doctor thoses pictures. In fact you've made a bit of a hash of it to be perfectly Frank. Why that just couldn't of been left alone is beyond me. Its all getting a bit silly now...
  14. Wonder if they will put that on a low loader and take it by road back to HW. I assume the insurance guys are going to want to have a look. Glad to see it up.
  15. It's was without doubt a fantastic show put on by our armed forces yesterday. Not forgetting the many thousands of support servicemen and women in the background that are never seen or receive praise. Every kind of trade you could imagine. Tele coms, catering staff, logistics support staff, veterinary teams even teams from armouries from across the land, etc etc the list goes on. We are no doubt the best in the world at putting on a state occasion like yesterday our capital city is steep in history and full of magnificent building to show off. Let's also not forget the many thousands of members of our emergency services that volunteered to do overtime this weekend to be part of the day st John's ambulance etc etc. A massive well done to TEAM UK. GSTK...
  16. Same here, infact I was quite warn out after watching it so had an early night.
  17. Oh my apologies, I've posted this on the wrong thread..please feel free to delete it.
  18. Does anyone know why they don't actually show the coffin being lowered into the vault in full. My wife said it was the same Phillips funeral.
  19. When we arrived at richardsons last Friday lunchtime we were shown straight onto our boat. I went on 1st and was surprised to find two chippys onboard repairing the middle cabin headboard that had been damaged. They informed me that they were all but finished but we were missing the front cabin mattress, which was discovered to be wet by the house keeping team. They told me it was in the dryer and shouldn't be long. Wow I said that's some dryer, apparently that's what happens to all wet furnishings at Stalham. So washing and drying things that big don't appear to be a big drama. I've absolutely no idea if that's true I'm relaying what they told me. 5 mins later a couple of young lads turned up with said mattresses. We declined the offer of having housekeeping come onboard to make up the bed.
  20. I'm not a 100% sure if this will be an insurance job Andrew but most likely will be. I see the damage wavier charge as revenue stream for hire yard and helps off set winter maintenance costs. Hire boat getting sunk happen quite frequently unfortunately. Big yards are set up for it and more often then not have a spare boat or land base accommodation available if guest with to carry on with there holiday. It's an inconvenience for sure but nothing they can't deal with. The only important thing is all the crew are safe. E
  21. I wouldn't be surprised if that was out on hire by next weekend, I've seen them do it before. The boat was sunk on the chet, it was refloated towed back arriving back at the yard at midnight lifted out straight into the shed. Strpped out jet washed inside, hole repaired etc etc and back to work in went in 5 days. She's still in the fleet today. All in a days work for a hire yard.
  22. Sorry I don't buy into some of the reasons we have been asked not to comment. For a start all the information was already in the public domain to a far bigger audience then this forum reaches. It's absolute nonsense that the mods here believe our comments would damage a companies reputation that's just being a tad over sensitive and believing the forum is something it isn't. Sorry a tad harsh but it's the reality. There's no harm in debating what may of happened as some good may of surfaced because of the debate. I mean if we use the logic of some here we may as well close parliament. Thoses that want to live in a world of pink fluffy clouds where no one disagrees etc are a tad nieve in my opinion. Healthy debate is good, differences of opion are good ,isn't it how we learn from eachother?? Your always have thoses ppl in life who's egos know no bounds, but like bad smells if ignored they dissappear. Stiffening Healthy debate and over moderating is not healthy whichever way you want to look at it.
