  1. Loving the pics Howard as always (In the reply box can you hold the shift key and press the A key (So ctrl and A) and then hit delete, that will remove my quoted text for you). Keep the pics coming!!
  2. Can I interest anyone in a calendar too? http://shop.norfolkbroadsnetwork.com/index.html#blog
  3. Iain, You forgot the link to buy: http://shop.norfolkbroadsnetwork.com/index.html By before it's too late and you will so regret it.. (Erm what's the other key words..oh) Yup they are as cheap as anything.. perfect erm stocking fillers (if you have big stockings)..
  4. Afternoon (Evening?) Eric That's a lot of money mate!!! Well done for doing it though, Certainly applaud you for spending all that hard earned cash over here though (Geez just noticed that's april too!!). I must admit I've had many holidays other than the broads but I always come back feeling like i need another holiday!! but a weekend on the broads though and it feels like one has been away for a week When are you next over? Have to catch up for a beer
  5. Geez £2100 is just under what I put away for the boat for the year all in! These things are so expensive! I'm so surprised there's a market for such expensive boats..
  6. Hi Alan, Apparently you should never fit one of them (the powder ones) as they have been known to go off for no reason and if they go off when the engine is running you will need a new engine. The gas ones are meant to be a wiser choice although I'm sure I read somewhere that they will vent out if you have vents or be sucked through the engine so there's no real solution on small boats.. Just pray you never needs (certainly as despite the BSC tick there is no way our engine bay is fireproof for 3 mins the floor would have melted long before that).
  7. I think our BSC examiner mentioned it to us when we was examined this year, I'm sure he said it's coming in the next update which is January?! Certainly a good idea although I think our bay is a bit big for it to really work overly well. Although ours is all rated to withstand a fire for 3 minutes which is plenty of time to escape
  8. Robin's mentioned some valid points IMO. Some of which are already there like smartphone apps which are probably really helpful to newbies and help aid local businesses which has got to be good thing right? (I.e these show you where the nearest pub is). The broads will move into the modern world but I think it's unlikely to move too quickly (Condisering Nofolk just got it's first dual carrageway to london!!. I was surprised to see LED signs on the bridges down south (which give an estimated time to opening (kinda) ) when they first appeared and it would be neat to have a clear bridge height reading to know for sure certainly around ludham and yarmouth which can be a busy sections. Bluechart technology already allows for navigation around obstructions (although obviously the broads aren't mapped) which connected up to an autohelm will keep the boat on the course so if mapped for breydon such technology could force boats on course. (http://www.garmin.com/uk/maps/bluechart).. It also has tide charts built in so no reason why similar can be developed and deployed on a touch screen on the helm (and then it's only a simple bit of programming which can alert the helmsmen if technically they are too early and don't have enough water). I make it clear that my boat has no modern things on there (geez we don't even have a TV!!) other than safety things because I really enjoy the broads for getting away from the modern world. Yeah I do kinda hope we don't go the extremes of GPS trackers on boats for whatever use but technology can be employed and arguably should be to aid safety (certainly as boats are getting bigger) and aid tourism.
  9. Lol.. I didn't mean like that.. . I do wonder though if Howard does feel a worry being on his/their own. I'd be one that would worried about people undoing ropes and bits if I was the only boat out and thus would have to effectively chain the boat to the pontoons lol.
  10. Howard do you not feel a bit too vulnerable effectively being the only boat out?
  11. He can try.. if he does it can be put back... lol
  12. Grace.. is that another warning point?.. you CAN NOT mention the walking snowman before boxing day... grr..
  13. That sounds OK.. although our lead is only 13amp so as far I understand it we couldn't run anything else.. the aperture is 60cm.. I email stalham gas no answer so far we may have to pop in there I guess.
  14. Andy, I'll get in touch with them.. it's strange isn't it. I guess most people use electric ovens. Sadly though our hook up is only 13amp do we can't do electric cookers.
  15. Technically anything is posible Peter.. but then again they could have GPS trackers which can be referred to afterwards. not sure why they would want to though. From our experiances last year the rangers can pretty much find a boat in a very short amount of time and keep a close eye on them! So I doubt there's a need to. But I guess perhaps later down the line you could connect them up to things like battery monitors and view the state of things when they are out, so if there's a problem then they can look before attending.. or fixing before problems occur.. Be interesting to hear if Clive and co have such future ideas like this.
  16. Wow that looks amazing all that extra waterway!!
  17. Or kicked out the Marina for disturbing the peace lol !!
  18. Gracie you said you would defend me.. here's your chance... lol
  19. I see Woodfordes are open saturday too and I'd love to go round the brewery tour there.. So it maybe a juggle between a tour there or a little trip out on the boat.. lets see what the weathers doing!!! Enjoy your trip Howard! Looking forward to the tale and pictures!
  20. Charlie.. Please try to remember more!! I don't know that side all that well.. it's probably somewhere at hempstead valley.. near the tescos / B&Q but I can't think of anyone there and not showing on google. Have you got the receipt somewhere? still Robin. I called them and we only worked it out when I asked about the jets and we noticed it needed a 16amp fuse :(.. I think the cheapest is this BAUMATIC BO610.5SS which has LPG jets. but it's still £300 so may be worth waiting for the sales.. (I'll email the gumtree one though.. although I want a warranty with it really). Thanks All!
  21. We was the river on Saturday up north. I was amazed how quiet and peaceful it was though. A different planet! how long are you out for howard? we maybe out saturday (fingers crossed).
  22. Oh ouch I've just seen this!! I could see why Grace wanted to report you!!
