  1. Good luck Stuart and Co.. Perhaps when you find them can you see if they can swim?
  2. YBW report that it was recovered on the next low tide. Once again hope she's back out soon. http://www.ybw.com/news-from-yachting-boating-world/video-cruiser-gets-stuck-under-bridge-on-norfolk-broads-11297
  3. Lol sorry Iain it was only when I clicked on the link I had any idea what you were saying there!! I must admit though with this wind now it feels like it could bloody snow... it's freezing..
  4. The mohawk is 2nd mate Dave.. You wont really see me on any pictures as I don't like people take pictures of me lol... His haircut is quite well known in norfolk as he's had it for quite some times...We've met a few people on the broads who say "they've recognised the haircut lol".. he also gets lots of random people talk to him lol He has coloured it before no doubt he will do it again!
  5. There will be more coming up don't worry.. they are getting a fair few views on youtube surprisingly Last nights tide was a bit rough and the next one is coming in and it's windy so seasickness time for me lol
  6. Pleasure Jim. I highly doubt resin will stick to the plastic (plus if it's plastic there's probably no need as you will only coat it to protect and prolong the life. I'd say go with ply (4 or 6mm should curve) and then coat that.. or do it with some nice timber and coat with varnish it should come up really nicely. Good luck.
  7. No no chance... aint that right matt? Ignore Jonzo... Yes i've got my parents boat through and that's 8.3.. Although you will still probably need a low tide to get through so it's probably an overnight trip. and check with the harbour master at beccles before going through just in case you can get back.. i.e the water levels are normal as it can flood down there with a bit of rain. It's a lovely stretch though and I'm sure you will love the pub..
  8. Lol whoops.. Although its soo lovely down here... we really really enjoyed our 5 day trip the other week.. in all honesty I think that's the longest continuous trip I've spent down here and there's still places I didn't stop which I wanted too!. You have to stop off at the windmill by Cantley.. they restored it and when the sails are turning its very magical and an interesting stop! All of the pubs are brilliant too so make sure you stop off and enjoy them! Rockland and Loddon are well worth taking the time out and seeing. Enjoy your trip!
  9. Hi Jim. I'd use an epoxy resin: http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk/c-1004-resins-epoxy.aspx(Polyester may peel off.. although not sure even epoxy will stick to UPVC.. I've never used such material.. You probably want Ply although I can't quite picture what you are doing... have you got some pictures?) Also I'd use a cloth and not a matting as it will look nicer (http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk/p-1707-glassfibre-cloth-48g-x-1-mt-wide.aspx).
  10. Thanks for the post .. it probably means I will have problems getting out of the marina too!.. That certainly explain how Mustang squeezed under thorpe bridges! If you see here: https://www.tidetimes.org.uk/great-yarmouth-britannia-pier-tide-times-20150608 You will see they are spring tides.. i.e there's a decent gap between the highs and lows (and the low at .5m is quite low).. although it seems to be getting better.. I guess this storm is also keeping the tide out a bit making the low tide even lower.. so hopefully be better soon Enjoy your trip..!
  11. Hi Mark, I would say 6 inches diameter by the same high, filled with concrete would do.. Or 8 inch base tapering to 6 inches inch top.. although I think a non taper looks better.. I'd do out of A2 or A4 though and not mild steel though.. if it goes well you should try making and selling them
  12. I'll be there ... (looking like I have rabbies )
  13. Balls someone stole my Dream.. (and I thought it would be Clive).. bloody good idea. (If I say so myself).. The last few hire boats we hired were proper timber ones and it felt like we was really experiencing a traditional boating holida.. I think as we never saw such boats in abundance I'm kinda drawn to them (Orca being plastic is just out practicality). Good luck to them. Hope it goes really well and it would lovely to see more proper boats saved and out on the water.
  14. Lol Mark was very busy Iain.. Next time if recognised we will stop and inspect his work at lease
  15. No worries Mark you did seem hard at work there hope you get it all sorted and back out enjoying it
  16. Mark if you watch the video on the news page it does appear to be exiting from thorpe... not quite sure how they got under unless it is good spring tides at the moment..
  17. Ok good good (well you know what I mean).. as usual.. hope poor Mustang is ok and shes back in service soon.. Poor Alpha certainly aren't having much luck already this season ..
  18. Wasn't it mustang who got neaped the other month at somerleyton? If so that boat is bad luck!
  19. I would doubt it Ray as it's probably a small TV.. David (deebee) hired the same boat a couple of weeks ago so he may have had a close look. I'd probably call them too they maybe busy but I guess calling them would prompt for an answer.. unless they are waiting for it to come back from hire.
  20. If so lets hope the same boat can make it north towards that old stone bridge...
