  1. What is wrong with what has been there for years, just updated.... A decent Coffee shop/tearoom with a small shop for boaters etc. It could become a destination venue for boaters, walkers etc etc .. We always used to stop there for a coffee on returning from the boat until it closed, as well as by water when out. That is all thats needed to make it PROFITABLE.
  2. John, we had this problem with mother, well still do, the answer is rather simple really, we got her a mobile with voice recognition on it. She simply says to it ring "Charlie" and it does.
  3. The rivers are there for all anglers and all forms of boating.
  4. I am pretty sure I have never said such a thing
  5. I beg to differ stone age man was fishing these rivers long before boats (Wherries) were even thought of. So for people to think boats have ther god given right over angers doesnt wash here.
  6. Or maybe boats slow down so that anglers have time to bring in their lines... works both ways
  7. I think you might find that BA would welcome that Robin
  8. But at the end of the day the rivers are for all, why should anglers change habit's that were established long before motorised craft were thought of.
  9. Why???????????????????????????????
  10. What sort plant does these light bulbs grow into ?????? or do we need light the lamps to see them starting to grow????
  11. How much of that came from running through peoples line when they had them in the water????? Bound 2 Please came out this last winter, and not a single strand of line round its prop. She hadnt been out for over 3 1/2 years to my knowledge maybe more.
  12. Why oh why are people wanting lynch mobs for hirers, there could be a very valid reason for a hire boat moving in darkness, a medical emergency on a boat mud weighted moored wild with no access other that water etc etc ... Lets quit this trial by forum, its not nice, and mostly its all heresay and opinions any way. So why not wait until full facts are known.
  13. We shouldnt be hanging any hirers or privately owned boats skippers, educate them yes but hang or try them no .
  14. Now now that is not how 99% of boaters think John
  15. Well Vaughan I think the year was 2005, about 3 weeks before LeMans 24 hour. I was taking my daughter and 2 grandsons back to West Mersea, on bearing right as we came off the strood a car came round the bend on two wheels, taking out my complete off side of my Sierra Cosworth. It turned out it was his parents care who said he no permission to be driving it as he was unlicensed and under age. How do I know or even remember this accident, well I was due to be driving the 24 hour course on the Thursday before the 24 hour race. any way I digress, the parents insurance company paid me out much to their disgust, but didnt pay them a penny. I also got compensation from the police victims fund for injuries that their insurance company never covered. So I would say that if hire boat insurance is the same as car's then any boat hit would be paid out but not the hire boat. Charlie
  16. Robin wish Sheila a very happy birthday from me and the Wench please Charlie
  17. A warm to the NBN Jose, from me and the Wench (some call her Inge, i call her the boss) enjoy your time here Charlie
  18. Figures can be used to how ever you wish to make them look.
  19. I cant see why bringing Bridgecraft buildings or Horizon craft into this has to do with the old Bridge store site. To be honest spend money on the old building, repair the moorings, take over the old toilet block from the council. Spend the rest on more 24hour moorings or as an authority implementing and running waste disposal/recycling, to stop fly tipping that must cost more for them to clean up in the long run.
  20. I hope any thing I have said that is negative (I'm sure I must have at some time )about the BA is taken as my view, also positive (I'm sure I must have at some point) things I said about them also. When the BA do good things they really are good, but alas when they do negative/bad thing they truely are. They dont seem to have any middle ground in my honest opinion.

  22. My kids loved this shop over 30 years ago, as they did the one at Brundell and Waveny River Centre, with the added attraction of the Dove cots and doves.
  23. A very warm to the NBN Mariner91 from me and the Wench (some call her Inge) No question id daft by the way. Charlie
  24. If you was that concerned a simple phone call to Broadsedge (David) would have been far more useful than a cut n paste on here from face book. I phoned Broadsedge (David) as my concern was not just for the loose boat, but for others it could also do damage to. I wasnt on the rivers either but phoned from Clacton on Sea several hours after the OP posting. I at no time brought up up other forums in my posts on this thread, but yes did name the picture taker after it became known who it was, and I knew he had no mooring there as to why he would be there in the first place to take said picture. If you think I was out of order at all please feel free to report me so that the other mods can deal with it.
