  1. Sorry for the double post. Hi Eric, I deleted it for you. Regards Alan
  2. That's exactly what the lounge is for (i think???).
  3. I used to work with British Aerospace in Saudi at the end of the seventies, when they were running RAF LIghtnings for the Saudi Air Force. Now that was another piece of brilliant British engineering and the noise on reheat was LOUD. The funny bit..... I was blessed with the chance to go up in a 2 seat Lightning trainer, after it came out of 'deep service'. Well, I got suited and booted and away we went. It's a memory I will never forget and for all the wrong reasons. The pilot (who I knew personally) threw it all over the place and I emptied 100% of my body's fluids out of all 3 orifices. When the ground crew helped me out of the plane, I was an absolute wreck and they just laughed.
  4. Clive, New ones sound good to me as I will be picking some up on the 9th August. Can't wait.
  5. BB, Many thanks for that. This is where forum members are a tremendous help to all.
  6. Geoff, Wife just said to me "What are you laughing so hard at?", but I'd better not tell her, or she'll be putting the manual in her bag.
  7. The picture - a rental car - a Saudi license - the inability to speak English to anyone in a uniform. I don't drive fast - I just FLY LOW!! Just joking, with family in the car, I tend to take it easy and stay safe. I hope we all do well and get there problem free.
  8. Geoff, Google mapped and printed. That's the way I'm going.
  9. Dave - What a Star you are!!!! I owe you a pint for that and that's why I asked on the forum.
  10. Dear Fellow Members, I will be leaving Riyadh on Tuesday 5th August to fly via Istanbul to Edinburgh and then by car to my home town of Kirkcaldy. I will be leaving home at around 4.00am to drive to Stalham on Saturday 9th. (my preference being the A1) Now!! - Google maps says the best way to go is the A17 from Newark and then the A47. Previously, people have said that due to road works on the A47, it's better to come off the Ai at Peterborough and then go via Downam Market to bypass KL. Comments and advice would be very much appreciated, as it's a fair old drive.

    Frack off

Can't for the life of me find an argument for your post Peter.
  12. Paul, I for one am very grateful to you for sharing your gift with us. The videos of the broads are captivating and I must admit to watching them more than once. Good luck in your travels and 'keep filming'.
  13. Oh!, Oh!, Something I can answer _ a farraday's cage is a room that is protected from all and any outside signals and radio waves and is used for calibrating instrumentaion. As far as the lightening is concerned, a strip of copper from the mast to the water is as much good as a chocolate tea pot. A direct lightening hit will go where it want's to go and @ 1,000,000 plus volts, will go through almost anything. A wooden mast is as good as you will get on a normal boat.
  14. Hi Geoff, I'm a newbie and thanks for the nice words. I start my travelling on August 6th and will be on the water from the 9th. Can't wait!!!! Jonzo is organizing me a sticker for the boat, so I can pose as a member. lol.
  15. Enjoy your drink Grace, don't want to loose your banter. lol.
  16. No binos - just a 70-200mm telephoto zoom. I promise I'm just joking.
  17. Which yard was Boudicca built in???
  18. If I can find the Hall Road one, I will try it and let you know. Have a great weekend. My weekend is Friday and Saturday, so that is why I am on the computer at this time.
  19. It will be mid to late afternoon, as we are having Sunday Lunch in the Priory at St. Olaves. Once we have been round the broad, we will moor up at the yacht station or the Wherry for the night. What is the best chippy near the moorings, as I've no doubt that the girls will get hungry again? Thanks again for your help.
  20. Admiral, Many thanks for the reply. I look forward to taking them around.
  21. I will be cruising to Oulton on 10th August in one of Richos 45s. I would like to show my girls the nice houses around the broad and wondered if there were any depth restrictions around the perimeter? I hope JM sees this, because he has helped me before. Many thanks in advance.
  22. V8, I hope the dogs are small enough to pick up easily, 'cause this is not the easiest boat to get on and off. We never used the big bath, but it gives plenty of room to turn around under the shower. The boat does go under Ludham bridge, as I did it twice - just get the tide times right to be sure. Fuel wise, I went as far as Norwich in the south and most places in the north. I got a fiver back from my deposit.
  23. V8, I had Fair Monarch (almost the same as Sovereign) in April of this year. Very comfortable for 4 of us. 2 girls in the bow singles and the wife and I in the stern. Plenty of storage and relatively easy to handle. High air draft, but you can plan for that. Monarch had separate hot water heating, which included a towel rail in the rear bathroom for drying towels - nice touch. I would have it again, so enjoy Sovereign.
