  1. Thanks Ray, here's a direct link to the document. First read through...and several things jumped out at me. The report's main objective seems to be unification of all NP's and AONB's under a more 'American' system of National Park. While much is made of similarities and common goals of NP's and AONB little is made of the differences. This bit sent a cold shiver down my spine "The Sandford Principle should remain in place as discussed earlier, and be extended to AONBs, to ensure the primacy of the first purpose." As did this bit! "National landscapes should also be encouraged to bid to become ‘tourism zones’ under the new Tourism Sector Deal, helping pioneer truly sustainable tourism." I quite liked the increased access section which included "We heard from canoeists how access is restricted to a tiny percentage of waterways which increases the pressure on ‘uncontested’ rivers. There is a lack of consistency between National Parks with some considered to be promoting shared and fair access, others less so!" I also had to chuckle at the mention of the 'Old boys club' and the need to diversify NP management. National oversight of NP's and AONB management. Very interesting! OK they are looking at reforming law's enshrining NP's. We need to keep an eye on this! Reforming governance of NP's! Oh that is very interesting reading!
  2. So, () I've been playing, watching, listening and following football for a very long time. What on earth is this American 'assist' that has crept into football commentary?
  3. DVD's you say? I remember those! Until the other day I would have said that I don't own any, but I found a box stuffed at the back of a cupboard that contained a few. Jim Henson Dark Crystal and Labyrinth Ronnie Barker Open All Hours Boxed Set Rik Mayall & Ade Edmondson: Complete Bottom (All TV series and all the live stage shows)
  4. It's been a long, long time since I had a 'local' pub. I think the Six Bells and The Eagle in Cambridge used to be my haunts outside of Norfolk. In Norfolk it's the Wayford Bridge Inn and the Greyhound. In Lincolnshire...I haven't been in a pub for years!
  5. Of course there's the theological reason for the difference... When Noah got on the ark, which was obviously powered by an inboard BMC 1.5 as evidenced by the lack of sails in any illustrations of the vessel, he quickly noticed that he and his tribe were not alone and that other humans had survived by clinging to floating debris. Noah offered to bring the survivors on board the ark for they were so busy trying to hold their floating piles of junk together to pay attention to where they were going. But the survivors were too full of their own self importance at having survived the flood to talk to Noah. So Noah spoke to God, who offered to give the survivors a good smiting, but Noah suggested a compromise. "How about giving them some string to play with and I'll just keep out of their way?"

  7. I've got this one Vaughan! Ahem! "Avez vous un cuppa silver plate?"
  8. There's a list? I hope it conforms to GDPR?
  9. Yes please folks...please keep to our brand guidelines folks.
  10. Quite an interesting policy document from way back in 2011.
  11. I've finished watching the YouTube videos you told me to watch Selsie...but I'm afraid I'm still non the wiser. Perhaps because it's an American video on the Chrysler manufactured un-marinaded automotive engine that I'm not getting it. Perhaps Vaughan can help?
  12. Apparently Royal Tudor has a sump made of prefabulated amulite This is surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two main spurving bearings were in a direct line with the panametric fan. The latter, of course, consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzlevanes, so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft that side fumbling was effectively prevented. Because RT's main winding is of the normal lotus-o-deltoid type placed in panendermic semi-boloid slots in the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a nonreversible tremmie pipe to the differential girdlespring on the "up" end of the grammeters means that we have to dismantle the whole thing to find out why it's not operating at full thrust.
  13. Erm...ejection, having fallen of the ladder this morning! Prior to the Keystone Cops of this morning...yesterday was 'bardic'. Peeping into RT's engine, Selsie & Dave did a scene from Henry V "Men of few words are the best men." Then we had The Scottish Play "Yet who would have thought the old girl to have had so much blood in her?" and finally I did a bit from Shakespeare's lesser known play Timon of Athens... "I am wealthy in my friends!"
  14. I have the blue flag banner as a 600 dpi 3500px x 1464px tif file as I use tif files for high resolution graphics Simon. It's a big file though and I would need to send via email.
  15. Absolutely not. It is illegal in the UK to shoot at any aircraft, this also includes drones.

  17. You can have it as an .odt file which I believe Word 2010 and 2013 can open. A word of warning...Microsoft word is not for printing images so it will look, what's the word I'm looking for? Erm... crap! Yes, that was the word! As you change the lettering to insert your name it will change the location of the text too. But you can have a play with it. The best solution all round is to download 'GIMP' the free drawing package and just type the text you want on the image and position it as required. You could also use Inkscape which is also free. NBN LOGO.odt
  18. Phew! That's the new phone all set up and ready to go. Transferring contacts was simple and painless. Re-installing software and upgrading hardware was also fairly simple but time consuming. Software and hardware is another reason I don't use Apple products. I use a lot of proprietary software on my computers and phone which in turn requires the latest hardware to run it.
  19. Hi Jeff... As the designer of the forum roundel logo, perhaps I could be of assistance? I have the original digital files on disc, if you PM me your email address I will zip up a copy of the png file and send you a copy so you can print it out.
  20. Operation 'Up, Bung & Stuff' has commenced...and I could use some help from the members? Uncle Albert was a hoarder of objects and memorabilia related to his many interests. Unfortunately I think hoarding is genetic as I hate seeing things thrown away and consequently I'm drowning in 'stuff'! Do any of our members have connections with Service or Veterans Associations or Youth Groups who could make use of a flag holster? There are boxes of Scouting memorabilia here that our local troops and Uncle Albert's own troop are not interested in or can no longer use. There is a box full of rope making knives, scout badges and I also have a number of union flags including what Uncle Albert called a 'coffin topper'. Free to a good home, the old lad would be pleased someone was making use of them.
  21. Eider should be writing some of these down as a cure for insomnia, mind you I had a dream the other night about a Disney film where Simba was always the last to get out of bed. The Lie-in King I think it was called! I was in a band once called Teenager's Bed. We never made it! Do you give in yet?
