  1. Is there hope. Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning. Winston Churchill
  2. Try wiping with isopropyl alcohol wipes. Used by the medical profession before injections prior to intravenous procedure. The isopropyl must be in a solution of at least 70%. Used by tattoists and nail bars. May also be used in antibacterial hand jell. Old Wussername.
  3. Please read again Victorvy comment. I have escaped death from this cancer due to early intervention. ,(for the time being). Any issues, any doubts or fears please pm me. I am not a doctor. I have been invited on more than one occasion to meet with trainee doctors at the University here in Norwich to discuss issues as part of their training. I will not advise you. I am not medical qualified. But I know a man who is. It may be peace of mind that you seek. He is a qualified cancer nurse of many years experience working for the Big C. If anyone of you have concerns I would be pleased to make the introduction. Nothing more nothing less. I would have no further involvement. Keep safe for your family and yourself. Andrew.
  4. I'm quite a private man really in some things. But during these diffiçult times amongst other health issues which my wife and I have been subjected is that of COPD. Together with other problems. Which has placed us on the priority vulnerable list. The joys of growing old. It is bowel cancer aware month. Is if you haven't got enough to worry about. Please take time to read my story. I'm good by the way. Andrew https://fundraise.big-c.co.uk/news/andrews-story/ Take care all of you.
  5. I think that austerity will be with us for many years. Come what may.
  6. I can make a bed. Hospital corners and all! Wussername.
  7. Yes I do indeed. However it would not be appropriate at this moment in time for me to comment.
  8. It may be of interest to some that the reserve at Strumpshaw is not owned by the RSPB. It is leased. It is my belief that certain formalities would have to be agreed between the two parties if such a venture as a quay heading were to be sanctioned Andrew
  9. My dear Nog It is nigh on the witching hour. Why do you thus tempt me with pubs and houses of disrepute in my hour of need. What further sufferance must I bare in my dotage. May the tide be with you. Old Wussername.
  10. My little old grandson sed to me he sed Grandad he sed I love you. Now wunt that nice. Then he sed. Why did you buy a wig with a hole in it he sed. I shall ding his lug when I catch a hold on im I will.
  11. Just follow the STAY AT HOME advice. The rest will cause confusion as it would seem to demonstrate that I have read the posts on here and that many have not.
  12. STAY AT HOME. What part of that do people not understand.
  13. Timbo. I looked for an emoticon. A like, a sad, a sorry. There is not one. There will never be one. On reflection there will never be an appropriate symbol to express ones feelings, sympathy, understanding. But there is a very personal and private vision, that of faith, yours alone not every bodies. Your hope, not to be shared. But respected. By all of us. Andrew
  14. Pam Ayers has been at it again. I think she wrote this for all the oldish girls out there. I'm normally a social girl I love to meet my mates But lately with the virus here We can't go out the gates. You see, we are the 'oldies' now We need to stay inside If they haven't seen us for a while They'll think we've upped and died. They'll never know the things we did Before we got this old There wasn't any Facebook So not everything was told. We may seem sweet old ladies Who would never be uncouth But we grew up in the 60s - If you only knew the truth! There was sex and drugs and rock 'n roll The pill and miniskirts We smoked, we drank, we partied And were quite outrageous flirts. Then we settled down, got married And turned into someone's mum, Somebody's wife, then nana, Who on earth did we become? We didn't mind the change of pace Because our lives were full But to bury us before we're dead Is like a red rag to a bull! So here you find me stuck inside For 4 weeks, maybe more I finally found myself again Then I had to close the door! It didnt really bother me I'd while away the hour I'd bake for all the family But I've got no flaming flour! Now Netflix is just wonderful I like a gutsy thriller I'm swooning over Idris Or some random sexy killer. At least I've got a stash of booze For when I'm being idle There's wine and whiskey, even gin If I'm feeling suicidal! So let's all drink to lockdown To recovery and health And hope this awful virus Doesn't decimate our wealth. We'll all get through the crisis And be back to join our mates Just hoping I'm not far too wide To fit through the flaming gates! Sent by Wussername
  15. A huge amount of money must have been spent on the site to little avail. No doubt the bridge still remains. I wonder if they found the treasure of cigarettes, nylons, cigars and cognac that was buried there. Andrew
  16. I quite like a bit of doddering Peter. Not much else to do. But would rather be doddering about on the river. A gentle cruise, a gentle sail. Even a drift would be good. Andrew
  17. Indeed. Does this figure of 500,000 not relate to the annual turnover of the company , is relative to the annual turnover, profitability and viability of the company for the future. Concern which surely must be taken into consideration for the future plus the companies assets, it's liabilities. Not mentioned by some. They prefer to believe that the owners trouser this sum of money at the end of the season. Watch very carefully Easyjet, take note of other airlines, take note of the recent demise of one of our local airlines. We live in very precarious times the Broads hire industry is not immune to financial gravity. Finally I must refer to the present discussion with regard to the Broads Authority. For those who have a disposable income to enjoy the broads and I emphasise disposable income for boating that they resent paying their toll. I'm OK with that. However may I ask for that which you wish to return.
  18. Gulp! I am beginning to wish I had not asked.
  19. It is not as simple as it may seem Mike. The variable costs of running a business can be daunting. Who could have anticipated this particular issue and who amongst us can anticipate it's consequences. You will not find the answer in the accounts, within the balance sheet. But you may discover that which we seek in the future. May I ask who will pay the ferry man?
  20. Where? Company House (beta) in significant detail to justify such comments in detail?
  21. This is not the first time TT has had a pop at "the boat yards". Completely unjustified from my view point. Where does he get this financial information from? Is he privy to that which is disclosed in the board room. I think not. Andrew
  22. Do wot? Wu's the time in French France. Best you wind the cat up and put the clock out.
  23. For many a sad summer. A wretched summer. It will be difficult for all of us. I have personally gone through a couple of very difficult summers and I was looking forward to some quality time on the broads, on the river. But not to be. Let us hope that as a group of like minded people we will be able overcome some of our petty differences which in the scheme of things are of little consequence. Indeed you could argue of no consequence. Andrew
  24. OK GO. But you are one of those people that this forum needs. A person of sincerity. Stay. Please. You don't have to post every day, every week. Just provide us with a bit of sensitivity that we need. Andrew
  25. Peter. I have taken on board your comment that the Broads will be around long after the virus has been tamed. And I agree. But will it be the same as we both remember? I am of an age. Nearly eighty. I can remember, like yourself, an age gone by. I wish for those days on the Waveny, on the Yare, on the Wensum. But they have gone. We have to look back and reflect on those wonderful days. We most allow the new generation to decide their own destiny. Is it so wrong? Time will tell. I hope that they will take heed of our concern, however that will only be achieved when we are able to obtain confidence with regard to their ambitions for the future and that we are united and confident in in our endeavours. Without constant criticism and disdain of those who seek solution.
