  1. I've been coming to the broads since the sixties. Owned boats for 12 years. Now living in Martham since October. Its as I said lovely all the time.
  2. The boards are lovely 365/366.Every day is good even in poor weather.
  3. Someone else, who worked hard today in the garden. JoJo now sleeping!
  4. Thanks its been hard work for sure. I've never seen so many overgrown shrubs. As I said think we're over the worse.
  5. Alot since my last post, just before Christmas I ordered and received four ton of topsoil and one ton of sharp sand.Have shifted three and half tons of soil and sand.Today I hired a turf lifter. Not long finished bit of tiding up.Hope to get new grass early spring and get some plants in. Some before and after photos.
  6. I was walking quickly and tripped on the pavement. I went down and put my arms down to stop hitting my face on the pavement. That worked but small fractures on both arms below my elbows. My arms won't in casts but slings.
  7. 2016 through to 2020,early 2017 I was asked to work the evening shift at Goldmans Sachs. So I had a team of three. They were nice people but not very good Chefs.Slow but sure I improved the food,we started to sell more food. Some Chefs left and I had new staff, the important thing they were keen to learn.Im more then happy to help those that are keen to learn. So from 2017 to March 2020 Most of the time I was working at GS,and I was very happy. Me being me an accident was in the waiting After attending a Health and Safety refresher, on my way home I broke both arms, I was off work for five weeks. That said I did a first Aid course as a first Aider at work.I was still recovering from my broken arms.Part of the course was CPR.Well the pain in my arms was something else.I was offered the evening shift as a permanent position, which I was keen on doing, but sadly they couldn't meet my salary. Next time Covid ended my career and the highs and lows of my career. Tips:January is a time when we're asked to go Veggie or Vegan. Now I'm not A Vegetarian or Vegan, but I tray to go meatless of Fish once a week. I like stir fry veg with noodles. If you have glass noodles.I use grated fresh ginger, soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, use loads of veg.Tofu dip in cornflour, with a little black pepper five spice powder, deep fry.Just add what sauces and spices you like.Theres also many ready made sauces available in most supermarkets now. Sometimes I make cheese sauce in advance. To prevent a skin forming I use clingfilm, you can set aside for a later time. You can also top with melted butter.
  8. Part of the reason getting our new boat,is my health and also Marina's. In general since my health has got worse, I just pace myself. It works just takes a bit longer.
  9. Don't want to say to much, but yes.Put it this way, less then 20 minutes from home all being well.We are very lucky.Mainly because the bank gave me a lump sum because they under paid my pension. That allowed me to pay off my mortgage in 2013.Pay off our first boat, allowing us to buy Sweetkingfisher. Moving here down sizing. All helped,I've said this before, when I helped with the Poppy appeal, I was told once you retire you wonder how you had time to work. Our days are full and very enjoyable 😉.
  10. Today we put Sweetkingfisher on the market. We decided some time ago that once we moved to Norfolk we would put the boat on the market.Main reason we helm the boat up top,in all weather's, we also wanted a slightly smaller boat. So today we met Gary from boatshed. And now she's listed on boatshed. We've had her since April 2013.Has been a great little boat.In many ways will be sad to let her go.We are in the process of buying another boat, should get her end of next month. She's having some things done, shore power, nav lights some repairs and paint work.At this stage I won't say where we're buying her from or price. You have to wait until the deal is complete. What I will say,we must be a little mad buying a house then a boat.Still very exciting.
  11. I'm surprised, okay Paul at times could be a bit stand offish.,but once you got to know him he was fine.Michael was a character, I liked him.Okay he was a big Chelsea fan.
  12. Yes I agree,it can never be a normal pub,it needs some clever thinking.Which sadly is lacking at present there.
  13. Yes I've just read it.Interesting and also sad.Ive long thought with some careful planning the pub could be successful and perhaps more people using the station.
  14. Regarding hire boats, some are available all year. Not just as you suggest a new season.Indeed some members have posted fairly recently.
  15. A few points, any new rules private and hire companies will be informed in due course. As I said a quick phone call to BA,they can let you know if any rule changes. My name is IAN,not Chelsea. The reason for my tag is as Follows. Chelsea as most know is my football team,Ian my name and I joined in 2014. Ian.
  16. Regarding rules new or old.The easy answer, ask The Broads Authority!
  17. I'm no expert, however when we had Shetland 4 +2.We did have it winterised. We nearly always kept the outbound in water.
  18. There's a good shop in Stalham. Forgot the name, but is the only one in the high Street, near the pub. They fitted carpits on our boat did a very good job.
