Not wishing to go off subject but I do find this whole "Brand Partner" business slightly worrying.
I can imagine all sorts of business ploughing money into NPs in order to ingraciate themselves when there is a conflict of interest between the perceived aims and objects of an NP and their aims be they energy, development or retail.
My interest is purely academic but I have always considered it an excellent spot should I decide to base myself southside at some point.
I also did not realise that Tingdene were in to holiday villages and "lifestyle" parks but it seems they are in quite a big way.
I am sure Peter or someone local can anser this.
Is Broadland Holiday Village owned by the marina group Tingdene?
If so are there permanent moorings to be leased there?
Good morning to all.
Chris.
I use viewranger. The 1:25000 explorer OS map for the Broads is about £12. Once purchased you can use it on your phone or tablet. Shows speed, position etc. It works great on i.pad and i.phone as well but not on windows.
EDP reporting again. That is a narrow boat in the picture NOT a long boat. They were used by Vikings and I haven't seen any of them since at least 2003.
Its about the equivalent of £1.00 at Zurich Station if you wish to use a cubicle and well worth the money for an attended convenience of exceptional cleanliness
For those with an interest in the new breeds of performance sail craft Swallow Boats will not be at Horning.
They will however be at Beale in June and Southampton in September.
But none of these are trained UWSAR. (Under water search and recovery) In this area Norfolk Fire are the only agency so trained. Google Norfolk UWSAR and have a look.
Had to leave before I finished. If this incident had not had a happy ending it is usually the Fire Service who have the unenviable job of recovery this is the most likely reason for the involvement of Thetford.
On a lighter note what is that craft? is it one of those from Oulton that you could put your caravan on?
Just watched my recording from last night of the Canal du Midi.
Quite a bit of carnage. I know there is a whole film crew in attendance, but I do wish the old girl would wear a life jacket and not attempt to jump ashore. But I guess it is a whole lot better than Wallace Arnold!
I have just been looking at the N Atlantic weather charts isued by Northwood that cover the next 120 hours. It looks very much likestrong winds will feature for much of this week.
I was told by Mike the Skipper of Ra when it was based at Barton all sorts of facts ref. Barton.
Firstly the river did not go through the Broad until the late 1700s when the cut was dug to what is now Barton Staithe
That the wreck at the entrance to Woodsend Dyke was a Thames Barge and also that it had been established the one at Woodsend Staithe itself was originally an armament lighter as used by Woolwich and on the River Lea by it's type of copper rivets.
I was once told that a "Heater" or what that name is derived from was a triangular piece of land. This was usually of such a size as to be useless. A bit like phytles are or were the useless parts of fields.
