  1. There wouldn't be enough room on board Orca Grace for all your shoes. Lol.
  2. Yes Iain, those were the days, Graham Hill, Stirling Moss, Jim Clarke, John Surtees (the only driver ever to win the world championship for Motorbike & Formula 1). Jackie Stewart (a fellow scot of yours), James Hunt, Nigel Mansel, all great British drivers, who will go down in history.
  3. Football gets no money from me, because of what I stated in my previous post. Get rid of foreign payers and get rid of foreign managers and let's get British football back to what it was, then we might stand a chance of winning the World Cup again. As long as foreign players play for British Clubs, what chance has any British player having the chance to play together, like it was during the sixties. What the FA needs to do, is to invest in training youngsters, to become good footballers, so that they are equally as good, if not better than any foreign player. Until then, England will never win the World Cup, because they never get the chance to play together at club level, which is why England had such a good team in 1966, because most of them played together at club level on a weekly basis, not just occasionally when England needed to play a match. It will never happen though, because Football is no longer a sport as such, just Big business.
  4. It matches your user name Alan, so good choice. Don't forget the bottle of Champers, to officially name Jaws!
  5. Did you stop him and buy one?
  6. Hi Simon, we have hired Star Gem 6, we are hoping to get to Richardson's just before 12pm and hopefully get an early start, after the trial run and boat hand over. We booked this holiday through Hoeseasons and on the booking invoice it states 4pm before we can pick up the boat. But from what I have read on the forums, Richardson's state 12pm, so we will be there by then. Look forward to seeing you, but no doubt you will get away before we do, as you won't need the trial run. Acording to the brochure the air draft for Star Gem is 6' 9" so there should be no problem with the bridge at Wroxham, we will contact the pilot on the way down, to see what he say's. We have no plans to go under Potter, during our holiday or any further south than Stracey Arms.
  7. Lovely read so far Alan & Tan and nice photos's, enjoy the rest of your holiday. The weather is very favourable for the rest of this week and into next week, which is nice to know.
  8. Thank you for sharing your short break with us, it's nice to read all these Holiday Tales. It will be our turn to post our first one, in a few weeks time, once we get back home.
  9. Well we will have to wait till 2016, before we visit that neck of the woods, but we will definitely be going South on one of our holidays for that year.
  10. Hi Jen & Martin, We are on the Broads all next week, so will pay you a visit, that's for sure, I mean we can't go home without buying something to take back with us.
  11. Sorry to hear that you and Iain are not enjoying the glorious weather, we are getting in the Midlands and South, but that is the price you pay for living up North. Having said that, when it is nice up there, it is great. We had a gorgeous week up in the Highlands last September, whilst back home, they had rain nearly all week. It's the luck of the draw I suppose. I'm sure you will have some nice weather, when it's your turn to visit the Broads. If you like we will order some for you, whilst we are there next week. GO AWAY, COME AGAIN ANOTHER DAY!
  12. We will, but we haven't left yet! Got a bit more posting to do before we go. Still got 1 more day after today.
  13. Now how could we not fall in love with the Broads. It's that place where everyone drives around in boats, instead of cars, isn't it? If not, you have all been telling Porkies. I knew we should have booked a Wallace Arnold Coach Holiday instead! All our bags are packed, well almost (Wendy is still umming and arhing, what to take with her. Good job she doesn't wear lot's of shoes like Grace, or we would need a couple more holdalls. Having our hair cut this afternoon, with our mobile hairdresser. Arranged for the cat and the fish to be fed, by our lovely next door neighbour, and she is going to keep the garden watered for us. Just today and tomorrow to get over with and we will be up with the lark on Friday morning, ready to leave at 0530 for our journey to Norfolk.
  14. How about Moby! Small boat, but with a big name. Goes well with Orca.
  15. I think it's the same all over. We have had some glorious weather all week and it looks like it is going to continue, well into next week. Referring to the Grebe courtship dance, if you have never seen this physically. you don't know what you have missed. We saw a pair last year at our local bird reserve, so hoping to see them again when we are in the Broads. They usually perform this dance, early morning or late evening. The Great Crested Grebe, is certainly one of our nicest water birds.
  16. That's nice Steve. Depending on what time we get away from Richardson's on Friday, our plan is to head for Wroxham and spend the night there. Then Sat morning head for Coltishall. Sunday, we will probably be heading towards Potter or somewhere in that region. We will keep an eye out for Broadland Lady. Yes just looked at the 10 day forecast for Norfolk and it looks like we are in for a good week, dry at least, which is the main thing.
  17. What a shame Mark, it would have been nice to meet you, but unfortunately, we are staying in the north all week. Never mind, we may get the chance to meet sometime and that goes for all you peeps on here! Oh my gawd, I can hear you all saying! If we are not mad yet, we will be if we ever bump into Geoff & Wendy. But really guys, we are not mad, HONEST, just getting there, thank's to this forum.
  18. Blimey! These posts are coming thick and fast, can't keep up with you all. Yes I agree with you Grace, the film Imitation Game is a brilliant film and they couldn't have picked a better actor tha Benedict Cumberbatch, to play Alan Turing. He was a genius as you rightly say. He helped to turn the tide on the U-boat war. I have this film on DVD and many other war related films. Bendict Cumberbatch will be playing as Richard III in a new dramatisation, due out in August. Ok, lets get back on topic. 2 days 11 hours before we set off to Norfolk.
  19. We know Lichfield well Viking23, being only seven miles from you in Tamworth. We normally park in Tesco's, when visiting Lichfield. There is no Tesco in Tamworth, but we tend to shop at our local Morrisons or Aldi.
  20. Now that is a thought Mark! Just imagine being able to hire a submarine for the week. You certainly wouldn't have an issue with Potter & Wroxham bridges. Anyway, I have decided to leave my old submariners sweater at home, made from Shetland wool, which would be too hot to wear on holiday. But I am taking half a bottle of Wood's rum with me, cos I like me tot when on the water. So if any of you happens to pay us a visit, it's a good excuse to splice the main brace.
  21. Now come on, let's not get falling out with each other. Iain is still number one Mod on here, with Alan (RB) a close second. And you Grace are there to keep tabs on all of us, under the administration of Jaws. %2+&=H2O & = 3 2 I didn't work at Bletchley Park for nothing that is why I am able to message in code. Being an ex submariner, gave me some experience in solving Enigma, so you can thank me for helping to win the war! Are you monitoring all this Grace, just in case Iain decides to delete it, before you have worked out, that I am getting withdrawal symptoms and have caught boat fever.
  22. Motorsort doesn't attract as much following as football, that is why. I used to follow football when I was younger, when teams were all British, when most of those players, were amateur and played for the love of the game and not for the money. These days, British football is all played and run by foreigners. No wonder England have never won the World Cup since 1966. In those days, players were used to playing together, every week, they got to know each other's tactics and were able to build up a good English squad. Today, football is just big business. More than half of English premier league teams are foreigners and a good many of those have foreign managers. Sorry, but that is not British football. Wages for top players have got too much out of hand. A top premier league player earns more in one week than most of us earn in a year. Ridiculous! Yes I know Formula 1 is also big business, but for me, it is much more exciting, than watching a load of grown men, kicking a ball around a field, spitting, often arguing with one another and giving verbal, physical and racial abuse to fellow players on occasions, for a team that bears no resemblance to where they come from or probably couldn't care less, as long as they are getting paid big money every week.
  23. I think he is making up his mind, whether to get entangled with us lot, he probably thinks we are all mad afterall.
  24. Still c g. O l 4 m e a s to o. : Didn't want to bore you all so I wrote in code and the rest in invisible ink
