  1. Definitely wont and likewise! The humans are a bit ropy, but the dogs dont bite!! Will be really nice to meet up with you and Moonlight Shadow, whilst we are on another boat. Keep in touch and we will certainly look to have a meet
  2. Thanks Helen, I hope you are nice and safe tucked up in the mooring, but soon be able to venture out I have no doubt it will help Dad immensely We have lots of trips this year to look forward to as we had already booked a hire boat before we bought our shares, so thought we may as well keep the hire boat as well So lots of opportunities and really looking forward to 2020 as out trips are currently as follows and there may be more! Moonlight Shadow 22nd Feb (7 days) Crystal Horizon from Richardsons 6th April (11 days) Moonlight Shadow 27th June (7 days) Moonlight Shadow 12th Sept (7 days) Moonlight Shadow 21st Nov (7 days) Our Newfies will be with us on each trip and Dad has agreed to come in Feb and I hope he comes later in the year, and my son and his girlfriend will be with us in September as we bring the Broads to the next generation You take care and all the very best.
  3. Its looking South down the Bure from Grebe Island at Horning towards the moorings opposite the TFI (The Ferry Inn, Horning)
  4. I recently lost my mum to cancer (november) and my parents introduced us to the broads when we were very young and they have been coming to the area, as have I and my brother since then. I do recall we used to use Ernest Collins and Jack Powles at Wroxham to hire our boats back then. (late 70s and early 80s) Well after much encouragement, we have got my dad to agree to come with us on Moonlight Shadow for the week on 22nd Feb, and as he generally has been a Northern Broads dweller, we have decided to give him a bit of a tour of the Southern Broads so our loose plans are as follows: Saturday - Rockland St Mary Sunday - Reedham Monday - Beccles Tuesday - Oulton Broad Wednesday - Loddon Thursday - Surlingham Ferry Inn Friday - back to base We will have lots of stop offs in between and it is all weather dependant, but this is what we have planned for the week and I will try and post some photos and give an update as we go, but hopefully Dad will enjoy the experience and it will help to get him out of the house for a week and to an area which has been much loved by us all and holds many fond memories as a family, as individuals and with my mother.
  5. Hope so, in order to allow all persons irrespective of their mobility to access this beautiful area
  6. Great work I look forward to seeing the finished article as I do think there is a gap in the market here Thanks again
  7. Just a query as I have been looking around for an online definitive map with mooring locations and facilities I note the forum lists moorings https://forum.norfolkbroadsnetwork.com/handy-information/moorings/ As do the Broads Authority https://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/boating/facilities/moorings But I would find it useful to see them on a map and look at walks and surrounding facilities that may be by the river or a stroll away Do any members know if an online resource is available and if so do you have a link to it? I have many paper maps, but again they dont appear to have the detail I would seek to have as I was thinking of something more broads specific
  8. Tom, Great credit to you for the manner in which you deal with some of the negative comments directed at the BA. Professional and informative as always Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  9. Looking forward to our next trip on Moonlight Shadow from 22nd February until 29th February. If any members are around that week, by all means give us a wave or come over for a chat and see Roxy and Yogi We are only intending to stay south on this trip and probably going to head towards the Oulton Broad and Beccles area and no doubt we will have a customary "overnighter" at one of our favourites which is the Ferry House, Surlingham either early doors or later in the week
  10. It's still criminal damage as the cost of sending staff to clean it and the cost of the equipment used to do so would be the value of the damage in any court proceedings as such it is not relevant if it's repairable or not. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  11. Jenny, I was a police officer for 30 years and your reply does condone criminal damage by using the term "but my gut feeling..............." in an attempt to trivialise a criminal act and then you turn on the BA as if they are somehow the offenders which I find disappointing I am sure we would all want the police to take action if the same criminal damage was caused to our property and I am sure if say it was our boats we wouldn't dismiss this by stating "my gut feeling is that the perpetrators assumed that their spray would be wiped off with solvents or cleaned off with a pressure cleaner..." Then blame the incompetence of the owners for not knowing how to get it off! Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  12. In my opinion a damaged or defaced sign by people who disagree with its message and / or it's placing causes more harm to visitor perception of a location than the sign itself The majority go to the broads for the beautiful surroundings and don't expect or want to see graffiti on the signage. I hope the police find the people who committed this criminal damage and with everyone carrying at least one CCTV system (phone/dashcam etc) it isn't beyond the realms of possibility Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  13. We love the spot as the decking, gardens and moorings are tremendous and Gus and the customers were always very friendly and the food was fine, but as an actual pub it isn't one of our favourites as we always have our dogs with us and we found it not very dog friendly, didn't encourage spare of the moment mooring during the day, didn't allow overnight parking and we jokingly referred to it as the No Inn instead of New Inn as it had so many signs telling visitors what they can't do Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  14. I wish them well with this development which would bring improvement to a much loved site and additional opportunities to those who wish to stay in this wonderful area Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  15. A wonderful first ever week on Moonlight Shadow is now complete and we are home. We love the home mooring, the Brooms staff who were brilliant..(Thanks Norman for your efforts), the people, the places and the time we spent with our beloved Newfies Roxy and Yogi. Both are now glaring at us, as home just isn't the broads! We are now looking forward to our next visit
  16. Yogi is really chilled on MS!!!
  17. Yehhhh! If I use the website instead of the app... They are the right way up! May as well delete the app...

  20. Just bought 20 from Brooms main reception and they had loads... So Mrs B can stop moaning now.. Errr.. I mean, can relax now! 😉 Had a great meal at the Ferry House last night and you are right, in that you pay £8 for the card behind the bar, but get £5 back when you return the used card, so in essence it costs you £3 for electric, free mooring, free water, great spot and a first class pub with brilliant dog friendly staff and great food..
  21. I will ensure I pre-order mine in future, as I never realised how hard they are to come by on the broads in winter Most posts I checked appear to have a full recycle card deposit, so even they haven't been emptied, which suggests that the broads isn't really geared up for winter boaters, unless they are self sufficient It's all a big learning curve for us as we have gone from hirers in the summer months to shareholders out on the broads outside the main season Still loving it though! 22. Jason, It's not an issue.. It's been like a Easter Egg Hunt...but with Electric Card's as the prize! Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  23. Thanks Malcolm I think we will be returning to base tomorrow, with this being our first trip on MS, so going to get to know the Brundall area and possibly venture out by car Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
