  1. It's good to be optimistic! We are supposed to be on Moonlight Shadow from 27th June.... [emoji51][emoji51][emoji51] Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  2. Not good for the environment either as just like when they closed the refuse sites fly tipping increased, no doubt closed toilets will bring an increase in wild toileting!!! [emoji1751] Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  3. Broads Authority have issued an update on there Facebook page (Copy below) Broads Authority statement 05 June: In light of a number of posts by boatyards on social media, the Broads Authority would like to clarify the current position regarding vessel hire on the Broads. The Authority is keen to facilitate a return to boat hire on the Broads for the benefit of businesses and the public. Whilst legislation has been passed which allows the future hiring of boats, the conditions under which this can be done have not yet been released. We anticipate that there will be a Government announcement early next week (from 8 June). The Broads Authority urges boating companies to wait for this announcement before taking any bookings so they can be sure that the conditions can be met to ensure the safety of staff and the public. No permission has been granted by Defra (or the Authority) for boat hiring to resume at this moment in time. The Broads Authority will communicate any further advice from Defra as soon as it is received. In the meantime, companies need to prepare for re-opening by preparing an operational plan to ensure social distancing and high standards of cleaning are in place, as well as the usual requirements for boat safety certificates, tolls and insurance for their vessels. 4. Understand fully with your comment and you are probably right, but for me there is a clue in the title of the word leadership that so many who are in that position fail to recognise
  5. It may not be popular with some, but I really do not see any reason why you can't overnight stay in a second home, caravan, tent, motorhome or boat now! It's about time the lobbying moved up a pace as it's getting silly now with kids going back to school, politicians queuing up to vote, thousands in parliament Square and even more queuing up for a Big Mac! It really is time to take the next steps in opening up the Country and this would be a logical one in my opinion.
  6. This no doubt a downside to the "only day use allowed" rule as majority of people who have access to a boat will try to get out early in the morning to maximise that day, creating large numbers in the same places at peak times
  7. It's a good job the title of the post is "on a lighter note" 😂🤣 Personally, cameras never bother me and I would happily see them on every home and street corner if it prevented the dregs of society harming or stealing from the vulnerable, but fully understand those who don't I also love webcams and on many occasions have watched the goings on at Wroxham and PH for example and yes I have waved at the Barnes Brinkscraft camera whilst meandering by like some crazed idiot!! 👋👋👋👋
  8. Things are slowly opening up, many businesses are doing take outs and deliveries, the Broads are open for day visitors and now elite sports are opening for training. Hopefully overnight stays will soon be allowed and the Broads will get a much needed boost https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-outlines-conditions-for-elite-athletes-return-to-competitive-training Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app

  10. Very good Although 23 is the Kings Head at Loddon You might be right with number 6 but I thought it was the run into Wroxham going upstream from Wroxham Broad You will definitely know number 1
  11. Ok................ Forget Ranworth Salhouse or Womack Staithe it is then
  12. Love my dogs and the walks with them Love the area that I live because its so rural with an abundance of wildlife Found so many new walks which I didnt even know existed The local farm has fresh eggs and other items for sale and they even have a book shelf with a book swap system the villagers use (didnt know that either) Appreciating what I have more as I have had the time to see and experience it But cant wait to get back on the spinning wheel of life again and some normality And especially cant wait for that drive to Brundall to start another Norfolk Broads experience
  13. Yes it was Royal Emblem. My parents tended to hire from Collins and the Golden Labrador was "Heidi" although we have had Aston boats also. I am not actually sure where the photo was taken, but I do think it was Ranworth I do remember being excited as we pulled into Collins yard and the wet sheds that were there at the time with the boats ready for the next customers. When we started hiring we liked to use Moonfleet and they had similar sheds which housed mainly their day boats Great memories
  14. Getting withdrawal symptoms now so thought I would post some historical images which members may be able to identify the location and the boats They bring great memories for us and we hope they do for you also Stay safe and lets look forward to a wonderful boating future
  15. I am optimistically looking at a relaxation of the social distancing by Spring Bank Holiday weekend in May... But like I said... optimistically!! 😉👍
  16. This week we should have been on Crystal Horizon from Richardsons or Broadway as its now called from 6th to 17th April Our itinerary was loosely Neatished first evening (Monday 6th), Ludham bridge (Tuesday 7th), Salhouse Broad (Wednesday 8th), Wroxham (Thursday 9th), Coltishall (Friday 10th), Ranworth (Yesterday) and Acle today............. The weather has been lovely! And even on our daily walks with the dogs Julie and I have been discussing where we would have been right now on the broads (I wonder how many others have done this?) and reminiscing about what we had done at those locations in the past and what we planned to do this time! We have even been on facebook pages and websites of some of the establishments and looked at their menus!! Sad I know... Would have booked a meal at the Acle Bridge today and hopefully with the weather eaten in the garden with the sound of the children playing and families chatting whilst the river traffic meanders by. Tomorrow I think we might head off towards Womack, South Walsham or Thurne Dyke!! Might even start looking at my diary and tide timetables for our next trip on Moonlight Shadow (27th June) when we intend going north!! One can only dream................................. Stay safe everyone!
  17. Excellent from Richardsons again We were due to holiday with them from 6th till 17th April and will await their call
  18. Great To See Barnes Brinkcraft have updated their cancellation policy in light of the unprecedented situation currently effecting the World https://barnesbrinkcraft.co.uk/blog/new-cancellation-policy/ Fantastic step in my opinion when many others seem to have a distinct lack of information available on their websites for customers
  19. Update on the sale of the New Inn. Hope someone picks it up soon I was also surprised to see the Ram and Kings Head listed on the right!! https://www.eipublicanpartnerships.com/run-a-pub/pubs/pages/new-inn-horning.aspx?fbclid=IwAR34PydH8w7I-zFdikuShdJiZ6JRFsC5HaDbUBBX0hcT9Tq2Pfj8fMJP2OQ
  20. Although many of the younger generation swear by Airbnb and have the app, the website as a favourite and would probably search there first. Not saying one way of the other is the right route and whether either way would have worked in the long run, but its sad to see them go as Horizoncraft was always a favourite of ours and to see the vacant boatyard taken over by them and adding the shop and Pedro`s was a boost for an area that could have fallen into disrepair and I have no doubt it helped to draw more people to Acle who may not have stopped there.
  21. They didn't send out maps They either gave you one at the counter or there was one on the boat with the welcome pack Many would leave them for the next customer Now I am told that they have to be purchased if you want one
  22. My father looks forward to getting his Richardson's brochure each year, which he trawls through looking at every possible permutation of boat that would suit his needs as he isn't really much of an online user This year he mentioned that he hadn't received his brochure, but as we were down in February we decided to call in for one only to be told, brochures are only being sent out on an "if requested" basis. With the increase in online use I see the sense in this, picked up a brochure for dad and thought nothing more of it. Then today I read a comment that Richardsons are no longer giving broads maps out to customers, but they are offered for sale at £3 each. (Please note, this was a comment by a user on a Norfolk Broads Facebook page and is not verified by me) But if this is the case, it did get me thinking about finances and hope that everything is ok at the biggest hire fleet on the broads Both these policy changes, if true make sound financial sense but do offer concerns about the viability, long term of the current hire market
  23. For information of members, Broom have posted on their Facebook page that their fuel pump, pump out facilities and water points are now back operational after a period of refurbishment
  24. Have a wonderful weekend break We refueled, pumped out and topped up with water Moonlight Shadow on the visitor mooring near to Norfolk Lady right where you took the last picture. It was a bit breezy which had me a little worried mooring there, but with Paul's assistance it was fine Lovely spot and enjoyed the cruise down the dyke to the moorings looking at the stunning craft and properties
