  1. That's two answers, I sense you're taking a guess here.
  2. Just out of interest, do you know why (serious) cyclists wear glasses, dark or otherwise?
  3. Struck a chord did that, the granddaughter bit. I also want to be around long enough to enjoy my grandchildren growing up and hope they enjoy their Grandad......and see Freddie Mercury live.
  4. Don't pay to use the roads, ride two abreast, undertake, appear from nowhere, slow me down, look stupid trying to be Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, Laura Kenny (Trott) or maybe I'm just being a selfish car driver who should have a look at myself. Away you go....
  5. Very wise Grendel. "Lycra" is not the defining factor between idiot cyclists and sensible cyclists.
  6. You are John Terry and I claim my £5 If you want to learn Italian I can recommend the Michel Thomas method as a start.
  7. Philly, Grendel, Dnks, Ricardo,.... fair points.
  8. .....with a thread title like that you're just asking for this to be derailed.
  9. I actually think the idea is a really good one and has the potential to become a looked forward to annual event, if it's done correctly. I've witnessed the Maldon Mud Race and the swim across the harbour at Padstow, both really good. However, there is something that nags me. People are free to do whatever they want, all kinds of dangerous sports, they know the risk and take the risk. I even done it myself for years. I know with my former sport (and I'm guessing with others) that safety of the participants was the top priority, it was rigorous. Of course that still didn't stop any individual being stupid but I took part in the knowledge that behind the scenes people were constantly collecting information, having safety meetings, changing procedures etc. Now given that Mel has said this is a commercial venture and she'll be lucky to break even, can the people taking part do so, confident that all the necessary safety measures have been taken. They will be taking part assuming so, it would be a shame if that were not the case as there is no money left.
  10. Enjoying your tale JF, thanks for sharing.
  11. That made me laugh Going back to something you said earlier regarding engine placement. Is a hull designed with the weight distribution in mind? If it is then does it affect the handling if the engine is moved from up front to the back.
  12. Thanks JM, very kind. btw...I don't own a pub.
  13. Would you consider swapping a couple for some ££s? I'm up there tomorrow and Sunday, also the Easter weekend.
  14. Title says it all really, any members got anything laying around?
  15. Good luck with the TV, a few weeks back they had 24" ones on offer, I got to the store 10mins after opening and they were sold out Streetwise portable washing machine, £69.99---- what's not to like? I'll take one

    Brundall

Actually, just found that you can moor at the Bistro if you're eating there. https://east-hills.co.uk/mooring/

    Brundall

I've been having some thoughts, if my fingers could keep up with my mind there would be more of these. Is Brundall the capital of the south, there sure are a lot of impressive craft moored there and I've recently spent a fair amount of time there but the place feels like it's just waiting to be either sunk or dragged begrudgingly into the 2000's Some years back, Mrs W and I viewed a craft from Silverline with the intention of hiring the following year, a fairly decent vessel she was too, but when we left our talk was about the area. (proper shallow we are mind) Is this where we want to start our holiday? It so reminds me of a visit to the breakers yard with my dad in the 70's. ( I know that last comment will be lost on a lot of the forum users) We have eaten at the pub, good, we have eaten at the bistro, good, but It needs more. Something for the kids, at Alphacrafts site, or the Swancraft site. Maybe Tingdene, but then they don't give a toss as they charge so much and are full. When you think , Potter, Stalham, Wroxham, the most popular places to hire all have supermarkets. Stick one in Brundall riverside of the railway, make people feel welcome. Options are limited I accept, and I also accept nothing will happen, the business have nothing to gain I'm confused don't shoot me down
  18. Along a similar line..... the worst I will not mention other than to say awful, the best was the one that followed. It made us realise that not all hire boats were poo. It happened to be Fair Princess from NBD. She really was a Princess and contributed to a great holiday for us both.
  19. You maybe are unique Vicmarie. there can't be many others (or any) who spent their first night on a boat that night. Anyway, as if any one cares, Mrs W and I, first night on a boat at Salhouse, a beautiful June evening, we had no idea where we were going and ended up there. Turned out good.
  20. I'll reply here as this thread is lagging behind your other one Route advice??? tricky, Ill say this though, to add to your confusion. From experience, sometimes, in our rush to see everything, we miss what is right next to us and end up seeing nothing. You have a good holiday and welcome.
  21. It's a pretty standard centre cockpit broads cruiser
  22. In my years, feel is the key. Mrs W and I "felt" when we bought this house 34 years ago.
  23. ....and the teddies!! Well done
  24. Well maybe I should change the title now to "Bought a boat" Everything finalised today and tomorrow morning we set off with enough stuff to kit out a small flat to make it ours. The past few weeks has been like being newlyweds again We have a list as long as Mr Tickles arm of stuff to do and another as long as his other arm of things we'd like to do. It's nothing like we originally were looking for, but it felt right and still does. Yours an excited, elated, worried, concerned, nervous, skint Wyndham.
