  1. Here's my guesses... No 2 ... looks rough...so does the picture...is it The Bucket of Sick? No 3... the fire looks nice but expect the whole pub smells of bonfire...is it The Guy Fawkes? No 4... looks like they stole the remaining furnishings and carpet when The Guy Fawkes burnt down but had the decency to add some instruments... is it The Rockabilly Tavern?
  2. Of course not, just being a little mischievous.
  3. Don't know the pubs, but 2,3 and 4 look like they could do with some tlc.

As I understand, no, it didn't have to be done, neither WB backwards or Everest. The conditions for both were human curiosity.
  5. Can't disagree with that. They can be fun, just round the corner from me are 2 of the best I've seen, DO51 DAD and DO51MUM. Not for me tho'
  6. That's by far the best excuse for a personalised plate I've ever heard, not sure having a company called ROT is a good idea though. I've never really understood the personalised plate thing, but then again I hate cars and think they're a waste of money but a must have. I have known so many people who spent all they've got on a "flash motor" then gone without other things to pay for it. Give me 30k and I'll spend 2 on a car and waste the other 28 enjoying myself
  7. Would it not be cheaper to change your name to suit your number plate.

I love that reply ...."you will have no problems" "Just ensure you're lined up ....and keep a straight course".....that IS the problem.
  9. Resurrecting this old thread... This is my propeller.. So am I right in thinking that's a left handed prop and if so when in reverse the stern should "walk" to starboard? Only it doesn't, it "walks" to port....or have I got it all wrong.
  10. Good quiz, dinner break ruined it for me. Well done Grendel and SteveO
  11. Even when he was very ill he still found time to joke about getting to propose a member. Says a lot. My condolences to his family.
  12. I've told you once!!!
  13. I feel I may be a bit unkind here, but how can you have a Gin festival and mention Bombay Sapphire and London Dry. It's like having a whisky festival with Bells and Teachers. If I were a school teacher I'd give it a C+ must try harder.
  14. He never said it would be a jump..... read the small print SteveDuk, the man's a fraud.
  15. A nice post Ricardo. Some of my best friends and closest family are the ones who I've disagreed with the most over the years. We didn't cry foul, just stood up and moved on. We still have differing opinions, but the recognition and acceptance of that makes the bond stronger. It's a two way thing.
  16. What else is there to do when those level crossing gates are closed but to visit. I'm convinced they have a deal with the crossing guy to close the gates early to encourage more custom.

    Moorings

Moorings are a bit like boats in that there is nothing perfect, all have their good points and their bad points. The moorings that have lots of good points tend to be the dearer ones. Why do you particularly want Horning?
  18. Well, looking at my latest credit card bill, nothing. Maybe it was a mistake buying a boat with so much space after all. We went camping once and forgot mugs, had to cut a coke bottle down to share a cup of tea, good times.

Paws, tell him it's you and your partner plus a dog....8 feet....£520 per year. Good luck.

    Moorings

Percivals had some space a few weeks back. Might be worth a call.
  21. Beer and Wine. I'd love a bow thruster, it would probably be cheaper, but will have to wait.
  22. As a football fan, and knowing the passion it involves, if you were there for that night there is nothing that could possibly compare. I hate* LFC but love what you did that night. You are a very fortunate man. * caveat attached, won't bother here.
  23. Ahh it won't be difficult JM, far from it, and an adventure every step of the way. I suppose we all like to think that every other human thinks like we do, which is so not true. See, up until now, if I saw someone approaching a mooring I'd be up to help a hirer,.... a private boat I'd probably hold back until I thought they needed help, that thought process going on in my head is wrong and needs correcting. It's an assumption and it's bad.
  24. Over the years we've been hiring we've always looked at private boat owners and assumed they know what they're doing. (Experienced) We've always looked at hirers and assumed they don't know what they're doing, (Novice) How bloody stupid, really stupid. What prompted this....well on Saturday I will be taking our boat up north, we are not experienced and any help offered along the way will be appreciated. To myself and all....don't assume.
