  1. Thank you, you have confirmed pretty much everything we hoped and planned for with her.

We knew almost the minute we saw her, although our previous boat was lovely it was time to pass on the baton of looking after her.

It was us there on Wednesday! I can see why you love mooring there. Paul is great, a really nice guy and he was incredibly helpful and patient, a pleasure to deal with.

We will be taking her back to our home mooring at Sutton Staithe, Rob the owner is another of the good guys and has gone out of his way to help us many times, a good friend!

Sorry to have hijacked your thread a little, hopefully one day you'll be able to post a photo of our boats moored up and looking like reflections of each other. We will certainly be looking out for you 👍

  2. I have indeed, offer accepted, deposit paid, river trial enjoyed and now just awaiting a survey.

We were very impressed, just what we are looking for.

How do you get on with the air draft, apart from the obvious bridges which we couldn't get under anyway with our DC30

  3. I think an audience can make some of us a bit more self conscious when mooring... which of course almost guarantees errors 🙂

Always best to laugh at ourselves and come round for a second (third, fourth!) attempt.

Never display fear, that's when they attack 😂

  4. This seems to be another case, as with so many things, of a minority spoiling something for everyone including responsible pilots.

I often see stunning images of our village and the coast and I have never yet heard the drone(s) that take them.

Lots of us are dog owners and you'll all know how we suffer for the irresponsible ones. Same thing really

  5. My DC30 currently for sale through Broadland Yacht Agency and Sutton Staithe Boatyard.

A beauty with wooden topsides and a grp hull, the best of both worlds. Cabin sides freshly revarnished professionally. Engine has only run about 6 hours since last service.

Bow and stern thrusters, electric mudweight winch, remote controlled spotlight, solar panels, shore power etc etc.

    New electric flush wc.

  6. Much emphasis was put on the roadmap announcement that great care had been taken in it's formulation, hence the 4 tests and "no sooner than" dates. I think it's fair to assume that the change from stay local to minimise travel was intentional and meant to be a different thing.

Minimise travel is not necessarily about distance at all... You may wish for example to go to your boat everyday but keep to the spirit and letter of the wording by only going once or twice until the next stage.

  7. I think, could be wrong, that they are saying you should still stay within your village, town, area of city. This is at odds with the govt. advice that you should restrict travel.

It may seem like splitting hairs but it makes a huge difference if for example you live 2 villages away from your boat.

Happy to be corrected if I've read that wrong

  8. Definitely going to check my boat on or near the 28th March.

Over the past year there have been a few times when interpreting guidelines has strayed from the spirit of them but as the above quotes show there is no reason at all not to go to our boats on 28th and take them out for day trips come to that.

I'm no rebel and I believe in following the spirit of regs especially when it is for the greater good but I'm going to my boat!

Or even a pair of tights, preferably washed or new?

I think that as Grendel was kind enough to bring stockings into the discussion we should all stick with them as a mental image :default_norty:
