Good to hear from you Ian, take care, do what they say and you'll be back to the boat before you know it π

Just gorgeous! Congratulations Griff π

Scientists called for a circuit breaker in September. If our country is going to do everything late and in half measures then it will be a long hard road out of this. Although a circuit break would be another huge draw on tax payers money and commerce and employment, the cost of not acting in time will eventually overtake it. Not to mention that every time another scheme fails the public lose confidence and fail in ever increasing numbers to observe the rules.
I can hardly bear to read or watch the news anymore!

Ignore this - was thinking of my boat safety! Sorry about that.

That's beautiful! π

Also, what about Oby, I honestly have no idea who or where you contact but it often strikes me as a good location to start any cruise!

With too much imagination you'll never have too much time!
Very nice work, keep us updated on progress with the new model π

Nice work indeed! Is this marquetry or parquetry.... I can never remember the difference?

I think Miss Scarlet with the rope... but maybe that's what I always think! .πππ

Whatever the cause coastal erosion on the east coast is a fact. If "managed retreat" is the way it is dealt with then inevitably there will be an incursion.
I live a short walk from the 2nd highest church tower in Norfolk... it's a handy thing to remember on stormy nights! π

No one has mentioned Sutton Staithe Boatyard yet. It's in the right area, has a great owner and crew and is certainly competitive.
I don't know if they have any vacancies but if you speak to Rob he'll let you know.

They are very useful moorings, great for the dog and lovely if you get a sunset. So losing them has left me a bit miffed... but hardly cross!

Any insurance company is going to have clauses showing items/areas not covered this is not unreasonable. but some of the claims they receive are far from reasonable, sometimes to the point of being fraudulent. That's when they will wriggle. Β
I once worked in Insurance Claims (not marine), you are absolutely correct MM!

In fairness to Craft insure, I only posted that one panel of restrictions to highlight the solo helm clause. On the whole I am happy with the cover for the premium.
All insurance is a gamble and like any gamble the odds are with the Booky!

Pun intended!
Having just received my renewal invitation and a cup of coffee I thought I'd read the thing!
I'm with Craftinsure and am happy with them and will be renewing but I saw a clause in their restrictions which may (or may not) apply to some members that I hadn't spotted before.
There is a restriction against single handed helming for more than 24 hours in tidal waters. Now I don't pretend to know all the exact definitions that may be applied here but privately owned single helms on the Broads may think it's something worth knowing!

Have retired to the Broads which I guess says something, our boat is here and we won't be moving it!
I'm not sure if 'loyal' is the right word, we like it here best but we hired quite a few years ago on the Cambridgeshire rivers and enjoyed it, certainly wouldn't rule out trying other areas as a hirer. The canals don't really call to me but hey, never say never!

Well done Griff, every year road maintenance team workers are killed and injured in similar incidents that go tragically wrong.

She starts and runs as sweet as can be Vaughan... I'll leave well alone!

Many thanks indeed Vaughan, I'm slowly learning things way out of my comfort zone. I always think it's best to ask questions and learn rather than make a mistake and learn... either way though, it's good to learn! π

If I need to top up gear box oil is it where the square bolt head is just left of centre in the first photo? How do I check the level please?
In the second photo (if they come out in the right order) there is this 'thing' which stands about a centimetre proud of the casing. It is loose to the touch but seems as if it's supposed to be that way. It can be depressed but there is no thread to tighten or loosen. What might that be?Β
I don't know what type the gearbox is, the engine is a good old BMC 1.5

You mean there's no holding tank? Fresh water, diesel?
You're absolutely right!!! ππ
