  1. Lads week in Lanzarote first week in January (fingers crossed!). Brenda has a week in Greece sometime in June with her brother and sister in law (I don't do Greece ) and then we are both booked on Supreme Light from Herbert Woods in October when we will do the southern broads for a few days before coming back to the northern broads. Chris
  2. Oh dear, BBC are at it again! Listening to their breakfast news this morning they're now highlighting a "drastic" shortage in the construction industry. Mainly brickies and carpenters, They didn't use the word "panic" this time so I guess there won't be a mad rush to buy wood or bricks Oh I forgot - there's already a shortage isn't there?? Chris
  3. To be fair to EDP, that video was a link further down the page from the current incident although why put it there in the first place is beyond me. Chris
  4. Am I right in thinking that darkened windows on boats are for the purpose of reducing the effect of the sun on upholstery {fading) and UV damage to instrumentation etc? Although it beats me why we need them in this country!! Chris
  5. Yes, that's from July on the southern broads. Chris
  6. No problems with any of the garages around Rugby today and Unleaded price was around £1.33p/litre as at yesterday. Having said that, there's a budget in a couple of weeks so as always the price will rise before then (that's not including the current price hike!). If the garages follow their normal course post budget, the price will drop a little to convince everyone that they're getting a bargain Chris
  7. As being reported this morning. (I've not included photos). Eight people, including a 92-year-old woman, were rescued from a sinking boat on the River Bure last night. Hemsby Broads Rescue were called at 6pm on Sunday, October 3, to attend to a sinking vessel near Belaugh. When on scene, alongside Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, the rescue crew were faced with a boat already 75pc under water, with passengers huddled together on the part which was not submerged. Two of the people on board were half in the water due to the restricted space. All eight passengers were rescued and transported back to the shore where coastguard teams were on hand for immediate aid. Those involved were handed over to the ambulance service for further assessment. Daniel Hurd, the Coxswain of Hemsby Lifeboat, said: “This was a professional and well executed joint operation, our thanks to the fire service who were also instrumental along with the coastguard and ambulance service in this joint services rescue. “I have no doubt that if it wasn’t for the joint effort of the emergency services involved this could have ended badly for the casualties.” What a dreadful experience, I'm so glad that everyone is safe. (Hope I've kept to the TOS?) Chris
  8. Oooops! Just realised I said early 2020's!! I meant early 2001!! Chris

Must be a Northern thing Chris
  10. Thought I’d start a new topic rather than drift the BA controversy topic even further out into the galaxy “Vaughan said Whenever I got my old TR2 over 100 miles an hour, the hood used to peel off of its own accord! Wussername said A bit of wet arm motoring they used to say. Now as a local boy, from the Jolly Butchers to the Washington Club, through the bends of Mousehold to the Salhouse Road my MGB tourer would have beaten your old banger any time.” My Triumph Spitfire 1500 managed 105 mph with the hood down at Rockingham Speedway back in the early 2020’s. I’d done a lot of modifications to it but still road legal! And yes, leaked like a sieve when the heavens opened!! Chris
  11. A few days ago I posted a link to a You Tube video which showed complete and utter stupidity on the Broads. I noticed a little while later that it had disappeared! I then received a PM from the Admin team explaining the reason why it had been removed/hidden. Their reason was justified and I learnt from it and apologised. Chris
  12. I always run the water through first before filling the tank up. When topping up at NBD marina the other week, we also had green water coming through initially (quite a bit in fact!) so I'm glad that I did't stick it in the hole straight away!! Chris
  13. Y’a can’t beat a good ol’ marmite and cheese sarnie food of the gods (and the army!) Chris
  14. Bent over looking up a very dark orifice maybe? 🤩 Chris
  15. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-northamptonshire-58767230 Seems like it's happening elsewhere! Chris
  16. All good sound advice given already. We hired Sovereign Light at the beginning of September 21 (Friday start day). The yard told us that the fresh water tank held 250 litres when full. The four of us (adults) showered daily and drank coffee and tea as normal every day. I didn’t top up the tank until Sunday morning at Wroxham. First night there was no water hose to use (Thurne Dyke) and Saturday we couldn’t get near the water point at Ranworth. We topped up again on Wednesday at Richardson’s at Stalham and that lasted until we returned the boat on the Friday. I think the loos were flushed with river water but not 100% sure! I don’t think we ever got anywhere near empty but not having a water gauge I had no way of knowing! Chris
  17. The prime minister said panic buying of petrol followed a "slightly misleading" account of the shortages of lorry drivers which caused an "understandable surge in public demand". That’s got to be the understatement of the century!!! How about “the media have grossly misled the public!!” Chris
  18. Everyone ready for the next "panic buying" fiasco?? Apparently, or should that be allegedly, there's an acute shortage of turkey pluckers this Christmas!! I guess the media are waiting for the petrol "shortage" news to fade away before jumping on to the next "crisis" to promote their ratings! Chris
  19. Appreciate the time taken for checking for me thank you. Chris
  20. Not sure if this link will work but I've just read this article on our local newspaper website. Just about sums it up!! https://www.rugbyadvertiser.co.uk/news/people/relax-there-is-no-shortage-of-fuel-in-rugby-and-you-will-cause-harm-if-you-try-to-stockpile-3396600 Chris
  21. Thank you for the reply Grendel It appears that I can react to a post after a period of time has passed and then it throws up the alert screen again when I try and react to another post. It's only occurred today as I was out last night and playing catch up on posts that I hadn't seen since last night. Chris
  22. I appear to have reached a limit on the number of times I can react to various posts in a day? I cannot find anything anywhere to tell me what the limit is or when and how many it resets?? Any info appreciated Chris
  23. I would have "liked" the posts above but apparently I've reached my limit for today??? I didn't realise there was a restriction? Chris
