  1. I agree, Neatishead is probably 40 foot (ish) wide. So turning on the ropes is only feasible when there is space at the other side. If you're careful it can be done with a relativly small gap. However the only other option is either to reverse in or reverse out. I chickened out and reversed out in the morning when no one was watching Of course it went perfectly.........
  2. We encountered a very considerate fisherman at Neatishead in February. We always approach slowly, he asked if we wanted the Staithe, Mrs Nog indicated we did. He moved his rod for us, we pulled in, moved down and gently turned the boat on the ropes before mooring. I have also reversed out before now. But it's possible that if a boater doesn't want to turn the boat or reverse out they will moor at the top. As Griff says, a bit of condsideration can work both ways. Incidentally we often turn the boat on the ropes but it's suprising the number of folk who don't seem to understand what we are doing.

    Flooding

Not the Broads obv but levels in York pretty much back to normal. The Kings Arms pub had water over the windows not long ago
  4. Looks like you'll have to change your handle and aviator to Fullers https://www.thedrinksbusiness.com/2024/03/asahi-to-close-meantime-brewery/
  5. We were out a couple of weeks ago and were certainly struck by the apparent intensity of fishing - just wonder if they are trying to cram as much in before 15th?
  6. Well done Phil and Ness and the team, richly deserved
  7. That makes a change!!
  8. Splendid idea. They don't boot you out too early either. Sounds like Ludham is running at a fairly steady 7 feet or thereabouts at the moment.
  9. That makes sense, probably why they didn't know when we asked. Usually we manage to find a corner in Faircraft Loynes yard though. Trouble is, if you're on the crane side, they close the barrier so it's quite a long walk round.
  10. Thanks Jean and hopefully get through the bridge this time in May. Don't want Mrs Nog to have to walk to Coltishall again
  11. Funnily enough we asked out of curiosity (moored in Faircraft Loynes yard) No one seemed to know. It was 10 quid many years ago. Bet it's nearer 20 now. Be interesting to know though.
  12. Aw, that's a shame, I understand. Looks like you're on the middle section? Nice quiet spot. If I was still there I'd nip up to the F and F and bring a Notfolk Nog back for you
  13. Certainly is Simon! Counting down already
  14. I always moor side on at Salhouse in the winter. Shouldn't be a problem as there are so few boats about. Fur and Feather or the Stag? Footpath a bit muddy at the mo!
  15. Lucky you! Please keep us posted. Sorry the posts are bit pub-centric but the scenic pictures don't seem the same in the rain! Must try harder in May. Forgot to mention, Bridgecraft were superb again and really helpful. Top yard
  16. Thanks M and P, and good philosophy We're back in May so counting down the days, just hope it's less damp! Raining again now, does it ever stop!
  17. Mrs Nog doesn't do things by half
  18. Bridge Inn busy and running like a well oiled machine this afternoon. Sunday roast plates piled high and going down very well
  19. I agree re the Swan. Best pub in Horning by a country mile IMHO Don't boot you out early either
  20. We seem to have found a pub!
  21. No probs through Yarmouth, 10 feet on the road bridge and barely a ripple on Breydon Water
  22. Update on, surprise, surprise ...... The Ram! Popped in on Friday afternoon. Doing a brisk trade with most in the main bar area. Three beers on, Wherry, Greene King IPA and Sharps Atlantic. Mrs Nog had her usual double and prices seemed reasonable. Sign outside proclaimed no grub at present. You would expect a pub to be busy on Friday but hopefully it will keep going. Always good to see a pub open and let's hope for good news about the New Inn.
