Dinner plate very bad indeed, I worked on a boat last year that had dinner plate sized blisters, give it a prod and you get a face full of water, remove the blister and after drying your face what is left was a creator but worse that a creator was backed by barely an 1/8th of glass left, and it was wet on the inside, GRP is porous due to water tracking up the centre of each glass strand like a straw, we face the surface with a water tight barrier being the gel but still a knock and a chip or just thin gel and water finds a way. Boat sinking is usually down to bilge pump failure, but how the water got in the boat can come from many places one of which can be leaching blisters if they're big enough.

Would that be an old Norman boat in the link? it would have to have a nearly new outboard to be worth that sort of money. Old cooker, porta pottie and a bit tatty. Any tares in the canopy and how 'crispy' is the canopy material? Its double the money I would expect for a boat like this unless its in mint condition, and its not uncommon to find them in working order for £1500, the engine is the bulk value of a boat like this, if its a old 2 stroke i should give it a wide berth.

They're lovely boats, we saw them in the workshop when collecting our boats from up there, lots of work each year on the upkeep of them woodies.

Some shout, some rant, some stay calm, all have a view some from not to far along the river, some from afar and some at source. Some of us know bits of fact as we have connections to those on the Island, the BA or the town council but none know all aspects from all sides, you can all argue your points in cyber land until your tinternet devices fail you but it will achieve nothing. There are plan's afoot, people are trying to engage in talks, some people are trying to start putting some failings right these people have my every support and I will do all I can to aid grease the wheels of dialogue with all parties. As for a bridge, there are three, two for rail and rail only with no access, and the third to Jenners basin, this as we all know has been sold, there is no access to Jenners basin and that bridge from the Hearts end, and you would get cut to shreds, stung and very wet if you tried it.

Its been said before, its been asked for before, and the idea rejected but a small chain ferry is the best solution, but not only does this need the Town council and Roger to agree on it it then needs the Broads Authority planning permission and the city council permission (and rent) for use of the river bed. I have found it all a bit of a mine field with logic that I struggle to fully understand, as you all know we have been in talks to rent a stretch of the quay heading, this is now on hold as the BA now require a full planning application even though they were approached by the town council months ago and advised a change of use application would suffice, being tidal waters there is a significant rise and fall with tide and for ease and safety I asked if we could use a pontoon parallel to the quay heading but this idea is thrown out due to the narrowing of the navigation channel, however if we do not get to have our dayboats there then a large broads cruiser linear moored would narrow the navigation channel more than our day boats on a 4' wide pontoon. I can't quite get my head around it. For what its worth I cannot see why we couldn't all talk and make provision for the day boats and a set number of dinghies and these two revenue sources could be a significant contribution to the £10k the council need per annum. I Feel there are to many different authorities all having their say but wanting different outcomes.

That's why I (except for very rare occasions) don't work south of Norwich/Brundall, I'm starting from 5 miles east of Cromer, I'm sure there are plenty of other guys further south that can focus on these areas, share the work out then we can all feed our families.

Norwich and Brundall is as a rule as far south as I travel, Loddon is a 65 mile round trip for me and without charging a much higher hourly rate i would not be able to make a engine service pay.

Welcome Malcolm to the friendly forum. A debate I am sure will rumble on. I am led to believe the next council meeting will be better attended than most, I hope this gives people a good chance to talk, raise their concerns and find the solutions that are required, all in the correct place, face to face with the parties that are directly affected.

Island community have already taken steps to get together and they wish to engage in talks with the town council, waiting for Roger is not wise, they will im sure keep him informed and in the loop but waiting for him will get them nowhere. I know for fact that the council have been trying to talk with Roger for Months, right back to when I 1st asked to use the Green, I also asked Roger if he would kindly respond to them as part of what they wished to discuss was if he had any objection to us operating day boats there, still he chose not to talk with them. I don't speak to much on this subject as I need to stay professional when I am dealing in a business capacity will both Roger and the Town council but something I have learned directly is that 80% of what archant write about the goings on at Thorpe Green/the island is sensationalised rubbish, they take one line from council meeting minutes and run with it, or a brief telephone call and you find yourself quoted or sort of quoted to suit the point they want to put out, the point that will get them the most clicks, shares and comments under the article on the website or sell hard copy papers.

Thank you for your advice, kind words and general words of wisdom along the way, I have invested a lot of time and money over the past 5 months, its nice to see it might finally come to something and with more hard work and a touch of lady luck I hope we have a little success. Ok, well I had not intended to say anything until all was rubber stamped but Thorpe st Andrew town council have moved first by publishing things in their news letter so if they're happy I guess I am too. It looks like we might be going ahead, the plan is for a temporary site office this year with a more permanent office from next. An arrangement has been made with the Buck Inn and they are very kindly allowing us to use a limited number of their parking bays, but parking is available at Freedom and I encourage those travelling by car to take the boat from that starting point. There is still so very much to and it's doubtful I will have the full complement of boats going this year but try I will and we build for next.

I do Southrepps to either Thorpe st Andrew, Wroxham or Stalham on daily basis and the road works are insane at the moment, every road has multiple areas of works. Ques, accidents and frustrated drivers overtaking in the only spots that aren't at a crawl. Never thought I would say it but I shall be glad when the money runs out and the works stop, then I can go back to potholes, pheasant and deer being the main areas of avoidance.

I too have thought Hickling is perfect to section off for motorised water sports. sadly the wildlife won't like it and they take priority in our manmade water world!

If only we were allowed jetski's and Hovercrafts on the broads.

Sent with courier I would expect it not to had engine oil in, did it come with a litre of oil?

Next bit of advice, for the full length of it its full warranty only have it serviced by people on Honda's service register, otherwise your warranty will be for a reduced term.

Two mud weights would have held your position whilst you tended your outboard with a panic or a crash.
