  1. Some mount the pump on a heavy bit of steel so it stays down. I like to mount on a bit of alloy bent at 90 degrees with the top screwed to a bearer. I have seen a boat with a screw sticking out the bottom where someone screwed the pump dirictly to the boat, not clever.
  2. There is a big bath tub on the hard standing at Abbey in Thorpe st Andrew needs a full refit, numerous have tried to buy it before but nothing has come of it, I do know that the owner has not visited it for a long but does pay his storage, BA got up tight about it in the dyke with no toll so it was lifted out last year. eventually one enquiry will lead its sale i'm sure.
  3. My experience of Parsun outboards is Run Away!! I guess ok for very occasional light use, but leave them in the water at your peril the cast Alloy is the poorest quality rubbish ever!!
  4. I could use some firewood, i don't mind if its damp
  5. I would happily supply anyone with a small scrap of GRP to try and burn themselves, or i would welcome anyone that knows how to make and upload a video to do so, in the interest of fire safety all owners should know just how hot and fast it burns with plumes of toxic black smoke, the resin burns out leaving the strands behind, this has no use and ends up landfill.
  6. Totally agree, the BA should remove the boats then bill the last registered owner, if they fail to pay then seek the money through the courts, this to me seems a fair use of the BA's money and power.
  7. 3 out of the 4 i mention are in the main river and the 4th between the thorpe bridges, two of the four have been down some years. maybe they need to be sunk and abandoned on public mooring for BA to care
  8. BA seize this one and I presume will remove it, but what about the boat that I think is/was 'Chatterbox' at ABC Wharf, the sunken boat near the river garden pub and the one that sunk about 15 mins from Thorpe on the left heading to Brundall will they please do something with these!?
  9. As Andy said most likely the new Mayfly, very pretty little boat. My boat (well this one, I have more but need to walk first) did not originate in Norfolk and I bought it from its maker.
  10. Left to its own devices it becomes a nature reserve!! Spring is coming quick fire up the strimmer before birds start nesting.
  11. My boat is based on the traditional west country fishing boat, I cannot claim to have designed her but by the time one is made it will be uniquely mine. Thank you all for kind words and good luck msgs.
  12. Thank you, it's not something I enter into lightly even small craft is a crazy expensive game and MBA Marine has had to be part time to accommodate, I have one guy helping me part time and without pay at times as he believes in the project and wants to help make it work. Mr Banner is a friend, if there is the hint of demand and the time is right i'm sure we will put our heads together (but only if he shaves that rug of his face!! ) and make something happen. The freedom pod and my 17 are very different in shape but it is feasible that some of the clever aspects of Pod could be transferred to the 17 (currently un-named).
  13. The aim is to give the hull mould another wax and gel up the next (I want to produce one launch and one fishing) as well as the superstructure mould they can then boat get their gel's and mat at the same time. I shall be high on styreen for another couple of weeks! the lay up is the easy part, development for different variants of the same boat is so very time consuming and as for wax on wax off that is mind numbing!
  14. Freedom already have this, if people want one I would suggest they see Andy, I might even help him lay up his mould!
  15. Open launch with GRP internal seats floor and central helm moulding, also working on plants to drop onto the superstructure mould to ease production of a fishing/work boat version. Diesel or electric inboard and petrol or electric outboard options.
  16. Today feels like a big day, after months of planning and weeks of gearing and setting up, we did it, a boat hull is born! much work ahead this is only half a boat shell, but the intention is to ease into boat manufacture, the technicalities of the boat building business are still to be finalised this currently more of a personal project but over the course of 2016 I hope to gain to some reinforcements to share the load with and see if my dream can take flight.
  17. he is in good company where he has gone, The last few months and years have seen some key figures from our industry depart this world. I was shocked to hear Peter had gone, I feel for the family and wish them all well going forward.
  18. Best give Mr Dack some credit here although retired this year he is still an expert at rigging, I spent many years as a colleague of this lovable but often obtuse character. Would say though his smock has never been a Woolen gansey, he was (maybe still is, think he had given up) a roll up smoker not not a pipe man.
  19. I liked it, a touch predictable but a good watch, we took my 8 and 9 yr old along with my 9 yr old's best friend as a christmas eve treat and the kids loved it mine had re-watched the originals (numerical order) one per day on the run up Christmas eve, this created a lot of excitement. A good start to a great family Christmas, Back to work tomorrow afternoon I have fiberglass that needs to be laid.
  20. Dont feel guilty, I give to none. give yourself a pat on the back.
  21. Jon are you still counting your wonga? How did you get on, you had grotty weather but did you shift plenty of stuff? have you already set a date for your next auction? so many questions.
  22. Some forum folk must have gone, it would be nice to have an update as to how it went.
  23. I have rarely seen a shaft worn as much as in Alan picture, I should say someone was a bit keen with nipping up of the stern gland.
  24. You beat me to it, i was just going to share this!!
