  1. Thanks Pally, That clears it up as far as I'm concerned.
  2. Oh and please don't try putting Timbo's body clock forwards an hour at the start of the season, He doesn't like it and his beagles think they've missed their dinner.
  3. I know that this sounds like nitpicking but the situation is a little worse. It is not "how many are unaware" but "How many honestly believe that they are NOT breaching BA insurance guidelines" and if they are unaware that guidelines exist, they are hardly likely to check them.
  4. Do Hoos make a lot of noise when they poe then?
  5. Too bloody true Gren.! .. What with that added to the rest of the Drascome stuck in the side the overall footprint was massive. ... ... ... Anyone seen Peter lately?
  6. Thanks, two things I'll check when I get to the boat next.
  7. Keith, I fully appreciate what it is you are trying to achieve, though I'm yet to be convinced you are going the best way about achieving it. On that latter point I rather agree with Marshman. I personally think* that if you wish to progress this line, you might have done better to have picked a time when there were not the other Tolls issues being argued about. If you are right, the "restructuring" will be used to cloud the issue, and if you are wrong then your claim might be used to take attention away from it. Either way, please be careful that you don't just go down a route which you will not only lose but one where such a loss will be personally very expensive to you. * Though I'm yet to find a way I can think which isn't "personally".
  8. Inflation is about the only thing that's rising !
  9. Keith, It's a 27ft Elysian Bounty moored at Hickling (so going under Potter is pretty frequent.)
  10. Awww, you're just no fun at all you're not! As I said previously, I'd rather keep full attention on Potter bridge than sounding horns. Wroxham is far less of a problem, and there I do sound it when I remember. It's just I see it as a pointless distraction and an unnecessary addition to the ambient noise. At other bridges I play it as I see it
  11. Sorry, in my attempt to illustrate, I have clouded that which I had intended to make clear. If a person without a computer, wishes to re-toll their boat via the post or telephone, how would they 1. know the details of the requirement?, and 2. find that information.? Just wondered.
  12. I insured my boat in good faith. As far as I know it passes all the requirements of the BA. But how can I or anyone else be sure? I take for example dear old Agnes Thrympton who doesn't belong to any forum as she has no computer. She runs her 45ft sailing boat single handed and renews her toll over the phone.. How does she know if her insurance cuts the mustard?
  13. Yes it does, but I don't necessarily see the point. If you are at the helm of a dayboat with the engine running, will you hear it? If you are in any diesel craft I doubt you would hear it. Did you hear the dayboat coming the other way sound his? Do we know if he did? M'lud, I put it to you that with a road going across the bridge with traffic noise and car horns, a boatyard bridge opposite the public moorings where cars often sound their horn, and the place where Robin had to sound his horn after going under the bridge, in the unlikely event that a horn is heard, by the time a skipper has worked out who is hooting who and why, the situation will be long gone.
  14. That's actually easier said than done. When approaching Potter bridge, I'm a bit busy to take my eye off the bridge to locate and press the horn. I know it's not much, and I know it's not long, but it's long enough to lose your line. I notice the bridge pilots at Potter don't do it either. Do they at Wroxham?
  15. No it wasn't 12:11 am is 11 minutes into the day, not 11 minutes into the afternoon.
  16. Ahh, That's one I can't answer without going to the boat. sorry.
  17. Hi Alan, Power is getting to it but it's dead. Turn it on and nothing at all happens. Some time ago, I plugged in an inverter to a cigar lighter socket and it blew a fuse. All the electrics went off on the starboard side, including the fridge. I replaced the fuse and everything except the fridge came back. That's why I think some electrical component has blown. I'm completely useless with that sort of thing and terrify anyone who sees me with a soldering iron. Any ideas... please... pretty please
  18. Yes, I remember Watney's Stingo.
  19. I always stock up my cupboards at Easter JA, but I'm sure you will agree with me that chocolate eggs take up so much space.
  20. I still need to find someone who can mend my fridge. Although some of my tonic water is in tins, it's so much better when chilled.
  21. Ahh but did you get wet ??? hmmm? Well did you????
  22. For when the season is open again, it has been my experience that the main mooring fishes quite well with many small fish and a few larger ones. The spot I always felt had to be the prime one was the end mooring looking over Sutton Broad. later experience has proven to me that this is not the case with higher numbers of fish coming from nearer the boat yard. Hope that helps.
