  1. WOW, you get 'lit barbeques' walking past you. That's handy. Sorry, no, really I am
  2. Most strange, I tend to get my pumpout done there for exactly the opposite reason. Always friendly, always helpful! Is it possible that, given the breeze, the pumpout operator misheard the request, perhaps not hearing the "please" or misheard the tone of the request? It can so easily be such a simple misunderstanding that can cause these frictions. Perhaps he had asked you something and you had not heard (something that happens to me often). I have a rule of thumb, I will not say ill of a business until the reason has occurred more than once. Poor service or bad attitude can happen for real or be perceived through misunderstanding for any one of a number of reasons. My advice is... Use them again. See what happens and if no better, then give negative publicity. Having said that, maybe you did, it didn't and you have
  3. Not necessary Q, We're all groan men here! (ok and groan women too, it just didn't look as good )
  4. For Motorbikes, lady drivers, drunks and anyone else who feels like it, use the same principles used by sailing craft on the inland waters. All rules, laws and other advisory documents apply to everyone else.
  5. Yes yes yes, we all know it's not speed that kills it's the sudden deceleration or (if you are the one being hit) sudden acceleration. It's not guns that kill, it's the bullet etc. etc etc. This really isn't the point, the point is that the car has evolved faster than the prat behind it's wheel. It's prats what kill, and sadly you can't make being a prat illegal. I have said it before and no doubt I'll say it again. If the relevant authorities ensured that when speed limits were applied, they were both appropriate and enforced. There should be 20 or 30 mph speed limits near all schools enforced with both average speed units and safety cameras. the same should be applied on shopping high streets and the like. All other speed restrictions should be based on the safety record of the road in question.
  6. I think that this topic has once again proven the calibre of the members of this forum. There are few subjects that can muster up stronger feelings that religion, yet here we are, discussing it without any teddies being thrown from prams. Yes the ice we skated on was thin, perhaps the thinnest of all yet we did so without blood pressures being raised or tempers being frayed. Oh that says so much.
  7. I believe I read it on this forum when the price of tying up at Gt. Yarmouth was under discussion. No charge if you are waiting for the tide and you don't leave your boat.. If I recall correctly, it went further saying that they were obliged to let you wait for the tide.
  8. I understand that as long as no one leaves the boat, you may stay to wait for the tide. I'm sure someone will correct me if I have that wrong..
  9. It don't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing....doo wha, doo wha, doo wha, doo wha, doo doo wha .
  10. So will Grendel's model of BA have to give way to them ?
  11. Oh bloody hell, ... Do I have to give way to that lot too?
  12. It uses the loft ladder like anyone else... Why?
  13. We could always go for "Bamps" or even "Lulbs" I suppose.. More seriously though, a question occurs to me. We all know of the "premium" put on anything sold for boats, but in this case would there be a possible difference between an LCD lamp for a caravan and one for a boat or other marine application, given the damp conditions?
  14. Sorry Charlie but no, that is not what "religion is about" There are a few, very few, people who spout hatred in the name of religion. These people are wrong. It is quite certain that some of them firmly believe in what they say, and are prepared not only to kill for their beliefs but to die for them in the act. The tragedy is that others cannot get to these people and demonstrate the error of their ways. Sadly this rarely happens. My standpoint is that whilst religion is man made and man taught, faith comes from within oneself and is always beautiful. It is never evil. It is those people who are prepared to teach hatred and to encourage suicidal killings in the name of religion who are the evil ones. They are not always Muslims, it is just that at the moment Muslim extremists are those who have the highest profile. I'm afraid it is wrong to hold "Religion" as responsible for the actions of such a small minority, not only wrong but can be more than a little painful to those of us who do hold such beliefs. After an incident like this, feelings run high and things can be said, but what we can all agree with is the sorrow that is felt for those who have suffered. I am sure that when the pain starts to subside from PC Palmer's family, it will be replaced over time with an immense feeling of pride. I do hope so, it is so well deserved.
  15. Ha !!! I bet you meant to say "She was right"
  16. That's an interesting point about these "electric posts", more necessary out of season, more used in season. Poor old BA... Damned if they do, damned if they don't.
  17. Chris, I fully understand your sentiments but I can't tell how we could know when that "time to worry" happens. For as long as Peter et al keeps 'banging on' about it, he keeps the subject to the fore, and by doing that reducing the opportunities for anyone (no names no pack drill) to try to further any moves in that direction. Some say that the law is the law and it cannot be changed without considerable effort. Whilst those people are correct, there are those who will happily expend that effort. Can a law that was set in stone be changed? Well For all my working life I was told I would get a state pension when I reached 65.....,. Nuff said.
  18. I am reliably informed by my older sister, Frances, that the most stupid thing my parents ever said was just a few years after she was born. "Well lets have another one then"
  19. Yes, Norfolk Marine. Take one of your old lamps (notice I didn't say "bulbs") in to be sure of the right replacement, and don't forget to ask for "Warm White"
