  1. Don't worry Gracie, I have it on good authority that Griff has nearly worn out his 12 bore
  2. I've just thought of a great sport. Fit a drone with one of those laser guns and have Griff wear one of those jackets that registers hits. Griff has a loader and 2 guns available. I wonder who would win!!!
  3. I have to admit I'm still very confused about this. Lets say I'm moored at Coltishall common. What sort of emergency would the coastguard have to offer that any one of the other emergency services could not provide, possibly even faster, yet the Free 24 hour mooring sign tells me to call the coastguard in an emergency. I'm not trying to be argumentative here, I am genuinely confused.
  4. Congratulations Jayfire. Look forwards to seeing you on the water.
  5. I'm sorry you feel that way Alan, it was not my intention to irritate anybody, and certainly not you. My problem with drones is that while they are unusual that's fine, it's when the price comes down and they become really popular that I foresee problems. At the moment they carry novelty value for the onlooker, including myself, but I can see the possibility of them becoming a noise nuisance if several are in the air at one time
  6. The Norfolk Broads are beautiful The Norfolk Broads is not a National Park The Norfolk Broads is a collection of peat diggings and Rivers The Norfolk Broads are peat diggings The Norfolk Broads was never an estuary You see my problem !!!
  7. It does lead me to ask which of the following is grammatically correct?... "The broads is a good holiday destination" or "The broads are a good holiday destination"
  8. No apostrophe needed. "Broads" is plural not possessive
  9. That doesn't work Charlie, I didn't plug in at Wayford bridge and still paid double.
  10. Hi and welcome. Look forwards to meeting up.
  11. I find myself torn with these things. Yes they have their uses and I have absolutely no problem with them being used for constructive purposes, it's the "leisure" flying where I see problems arising. At the moment they have novelty value and the fascination of watching them perform, but there is a risk that on somewhere like the broads, holiday makers will be wanting to use them as flying cameras. Imagine if all the holiday snaps being taken came with that whining noise. Never mind people running their engines at unsociable hours, half a dozen drones buzzing about at sunset will soon disturb we band of alkies.
  12. Oh Grendel !! Shame upon shame to be heaped on you. Anybody who knows a picture of Queen Victoria when they see one, will tell you, It's not Bluebottle who says "He's fallen in the water" but 'Little Jim'.
  13. I feel I should say a few words in my defence about retiring from the pub before it closed. I needed to get back to the boat early so that someone would be there for when I returned. Rufus certainly did seem a little unsteady on his feet when he got back, even on his hands and knees he was a bit shaky. He needs a tee-shirt with "This way up" written on it, preferably sideways so we can read it. Roughly speaking, when we returned to the mooring at the Pleasure boat, Rufus stepped off the boat and promptly fell over. As you have all heard, on leaving the Wayford Bridge Inn, he fell over and had a close encounter of the fifth kind with the river Ant. But these episodes are but nothing to his achievement on the first night aboard Nyx. He went to bed, and at about 5am, fell over. Yes, I kid you not, A man who can fall over in bed. Being in the cabin next door I heard it all. It is just possible that those making it to Salhouse might get to meet the worthy Rufus possibly even on his feet as he is the "Possible 1 other" on the list for Nyx. Well, as I predicted, meeting up with Tim and his Elephant gun was of course a pleasure, though it can be a little embarrassing when he puts the ammunition away. Why don't you invest in one of those ammunition belts like everyone else Tim?
  14. Yes indeed Vaughan, JM likes few things more than a good Squat.!
  15. I might be wrong here but I suspect your sister is the victim of nothing worse than a chain letter. I too googled the number and found that very same message your sister forwarded to you. It was just over a year old.
  16. Ahhh, That will have been "S*** off a Shovel Gem" that will.
  17. Arthur, Rumour has it that your passengers are ready to be picked up now
  18. Oh yes? ... We'll have to see about that. I'm heading to the broads either early doors tomorrow, or, if sis gets back soon, this evening. Can't wait.
  19. "What would you like?" asked the waiter, reflectively picking his nose, " A hard boiled egg", said the diner..."you cant put your finger in those !"
  20. I need to be very careful how I phrase my reply to this, as not to be so, could, and indeed would give the wrong impression and be distinctly misleading. That is not my intention. Permit me to take certain things that have been said. Firstly “Blackballing” which was not mentioned by me but by Ricardo. This forum does not have a “blackball” policy. Someone who has submitted the appropriate number of posts is forwarded for full membership. If nobody objects, full membership is granted. If objections ARE raised then these objections are discussed but if there is sufficient support for the proposed member, or if the person/persons who objected fails to argue their point, the proposed member still goes through to full membership. Blackballing is where if a member blackballs a proposed member, that proposed member does not get through...End of!. What I said was “Neither member here has reached the 50 posts required to be full members here, but when they do I shall not be supporting that membership to either party unless either one of them can give evidence of interest in other subjects discussed on this forum, and can give some level of undertaking to be less confrontational here than they are there”. I did not say I would “object”, but that unless certain criteria were met, I would not support them. I stand by that. Smellyloo asks…”Why single out these two individuals for their postings made elsewhere.” It is because of those postings “elsewhere” I feel the way I do. Smellyloo then goes on to say… “The two forums are very different and the other one creates an environment where heated debate happens all to often.” I agree. “All too often” which is why I said as I did. Finally Smellyloo says “I feel if you had concerns regarding the content of posts made my individuals then you should have reported your concerns/reasons to admin visa PM.” No, I make my points openly, not behind Ricardo’s back. I do at least give him that respect, and the right to reply, which he did. I stand by my post. The bickering between those two parties on the other forum should remain on the other forum. I have no objection to either of them enjoying an active part on this forum, but they each need to understand the difference between here and there.
  21. Yeah, My boat only has one mug too.
