  1. I shall just carry on as normal John BTW by "big" bits I mean anything you can see that isn't really soft so any decent water filter in the ine will do it, if you mean using the pressure from a water pump to supply your pressure washer as I assume you do, position the pick up a bit below any surface debis and well off the bottom and you shouldn't pick much up anyway, I have been considering fitting a proper deckwash for some time, mostly to get rid of the mud on hauling the annchor, this may be the push I need. As for your normal tank then it is potable water for hygeine and drinking, although I prefer to have bottled for that so not an issue. We always use our own hose for filling anyway as I don't trust marina ones not to have been misused so even if there are none I never have a problem, so long as there is a tap.
  2. I reckon it should be fine John, provided all the big bits are filtered out.
  3. For those who have not seen them, http://www.weaverindustries.com/index.cfm/category/6/davits-for-inflatable-dinghies.html
  4. Bung some Waver snap davits on the swim platform Jim, they are great, and keep the tender really stable whilst getting on and off, loading & unloading etc. Far more sitable than standard davits for a small boat and a lot less money. The only disadvantage is tou have to fit the outboard when you want to use it each time but as most times all you will want to do is row ashore from a mudweight we have never found it an issue + the O/B is always securely stored.
  5. I am mapping it Perry, capturing all the position and depth data every five seconds each time we go out for upload to the hydrographic experiment site along with quite a number of others. When the project is finished it should provide some really accurate info, on an on going basis too.
  6. Not with the kind of posts I've seen recently on this thread recently it shouldn't.
  7. Indeed Perry, me for one, but I do like my 50w halogens as they warm up the wheelhouse as well as lighting it.
  8. OH no, so back to wading (or possibly paddling) in front of the boats with a stick again then. Quite a disappointment as it will mean missing the delights and excellent service of the Harbour Lights carvery.
  9. Not surprised Keith, HMG have no jurisiction in international waters and clearly somebody made a boo boo even sugesting the origional wording.
  10. Welcome to the forum, you can get one here. http://www.norfolkmarine.co.uk/shop-online/14kg-stainless-steel-mudweight-p-18778.html Or you can get a stainless pudding basin, a stainless U bolt and fill with molten lead, usual caveat, read up on safety etc. No point filling it with anything else apart from perhaps scrap wheel ballancing weights encapsulated in resin as it would be too light under water.
  11. Only got the port one finised Perry, rain (& Shipwreck) stopped play, still the stbd one will be straight forward enough. I shall be visiting them in person with a large garden gnome under my arm Mark.
  12. Thought I’d fit the massive overkill pantograph wipers that I have been threatening to do for a while on Friday, so, took everything out of boxes and packets, gathered all tools and cable, terminals and stuff to hand. This should be a breeze, and at first it was, all extra holes drilled, slight modification to the head lining board and pod to accommodate and the the first one was on in no time at all. Then came the test, turned on the wipers and pop, fuse blown so disconnect and connect the other one to the same cables and held it whilst SWMBO tried the wipers, pop again, another fuse. Anyway this has gone on long enough so cut to the chase, on investigating, the cables, all three nicely colour coded had been transposed, the allegedly “park†signal cable was in fact the -0v and the allegedly -0v cable was in fact the park cable, rather than just connect as they were, I removed the one I already mounted, stripped the casings and changed the colours over to reflect the wiring diagram given so as not to confuse a future owner, So a couple of hours job turned into a four hour job and could have resulted in damage to either the wiper motors or our boats cabling. Lesson learned, do not trust stuff even straight out of the box.
  13. Here you go Jim, 26 pence a pop. http://www.makefast.com/acatalog/info_0282Y.html
  14. Welcome aboard & hope you enjoy.
  15. Best of luck Richard, & by the way, if you do decide to stock £1000 radar kits I will buy all you can get at that price.
  16. Here you go Wayne. http://garmin.blogs.com/ukpr/2011/01/garmin-announces-ghs-2020i-wireless-remote-handset.html
  17. Hope you've got a new berth Perry, having that parked next door is ging to make Kingfisher look more than a bit scruffy, I will have to get Jamie down for an upperworks polish sooner than I was going to now.
  18. Sorry Wayne but rather than help I think I may well make your choice more difficult. Having fitted both there's not much to choose except that the Garmin is N2K certified so addition and interfacing with AIS and other stuff will be more straight forward and will be faster and more reliable. Personally for comms I would also look at Icom and Standard Horison, Icom is high quality kit and the Standard Horizons are packed with useful features and truly remote (wireless) handsets. If you already have either Garmin or RM nav kit and have no plans to upgrade it I would always try to match as you don't then wind up with a fight on your hands if you have interfacing issues.
  19. Don't encourage him Gav, at least the latest bodge looked salavgable. Great episode, good job he aborted, I wouldn't have wanted to be entering Whitby in that lot.
  20. Probably don't want to loose any top end Ian.
  21. Swinging a larger prop, whilst it may, and I stess may give you a bit more speed but at the expense of an already limited duration, and you cant just pour more electricity into a battery when it runs out. My personal view is that you should cotact the manufacturer for advice on this.
