  1. ll sounds like good clean jolly fun, hope you have many more like it.
  2. Welcome, and I reiterate Ian’s suggestion, get yourselves on an RYA course, at the very least an inland helmsman course, it will help you no end and has been said already, soon pay for itself in reduced gelcoat repairs. The 3055 is a nice piece of kit but quite light with a fair amount of windage so a bit of gentle practise parking it will also pay off.
  3. No Idea Barry, but one sees it all the time, that and casting the bow off when leaving a mooring with a hard flow on the bow. Actually why do people get ashore at all untill they have a couple of lines on, its not hard to do with a little practise.

  5. No John, the old Hamilton dock, sea side of the Bascule (its now an ABP marina).
  6. As if he didn't probably already know. Sally B is reappearing at the Lowestoft air show this year.
  7. Been thinning your collection down a bit then Dan.
  8. Obviously people who will not allow their spirits to be dampened, true boaters.
  9. Looks lovely, surely that's not a Bur Walnut dash panel though Clive?
  10. I believe the club have booked parking space in Hamilton John.
  11. SPYC have a number of boats coming up there for the air show so weather (& jet lag)permitting we may just be there though will not be venturing past the Bascule if we do come, be good to have a glass of weak lemon drink with you though John.
  12. Indeed Perry, it does sometimes seem we spend more in there than on the mooring fees, they must do something about the prices. When I see stuff like that I don't begrudge our Offshore subscription one bit.
  13. It's quite interesting the clearence you can get under there at LWS, I have seen it over 14', trouble is you then start to have issues with the depth.
  14. You say how to get 11' of boat under Trev, what I want to know is how much boat you left behind.
  15. Luke's would be the V.P. IPS system John.
  16. At that lick I reckon it would have gone through even if it was too big, well most of it would have done at least.
  17. The new red diesel is exactly the same as the old in every respect apart from a lower sulphur content, unless that is you allow people to talk you into buying red with FAME. The solution is simple do not buy red diesel with FAME added, as I have said people will soon get the message if they are left with it on their hands, OK so its maybe 1p a litre more. If people are evasive or refuse to put FAME free on the invoice then come to your own conclusion.
  18. The below might be useful for you, me? I'm getting out for our own less frought affair. "I am writing to advise you that central London will be very busy throughout the Diamond Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend. If you intend to be in central London please use public transport, plan your journey to and from London in advance and check before you travel. Tube stations in central London and those along the river will be busier than usual. There will be a number of bus diversions and curtailments. Drivers are advised to avoid central London between 3 and 5 June. Sunday 3 June will be particularly busy due to a number of road and bridge closures. Seven London bridges will be closed to both road users and pedestrians for most of the day as well as four London bridges for up to an hour during the afternoon. There will be no River services on Sunday 3 June from 1430 until 1800 between Battersea Bridge and the Thames Barrier at Woolwich. There will be a full service on the Tube and DLR. There will be no access to Buckingham Palace from Green Park station on Monday; you are advised to use Westminster or St James’s Park stations. Due to Network Rail engineering work on London Overground, there is no service on Sunday and Monday between Richmond and Willesden Junction; there is also no service on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday between South Tottenham and Barking. Replacement buses will be in operation. A number of Barclays Cycle Hire docking stations will not be available at certain times. To check before you travel and for detailed information, please visit tfl.gov.uk/diamondjubilee "
  19. Indeed, and they have had the good sense all along to say they would only be going if the conditions were sufficiently benign for such a vessel and passage, well they couldn’t have wished for a more perfect day yesterday. Here’s hoping for a similar passage on the homeward leg.
  20. How is sulphur reduction going to increase the risk? If you mean the addition of FAME to red then I could agree, but that is easily countered by refusing to buy from suppliers unless FAME free, they soon get the message and unlike road fuel, FAME free red is freely available from refineries.
  21. If you look at the site John you will see what I mean, Its just a centrifuge filter like the Racors we've all been using for years, even then with good filtration one has to kill the buggers or you will keep having to change the filters no matter how good, a combination of biocide, a decent filter changing regime with a primary Racor (other primary filters are available) water seperator with or without centrifuge should see one safe. The one thing I like about Soltron, Startron et al is that if their claim is true, and many real world users do agree that they are then the bugs are digested and pass through the filter harmlesley, unlike a biocide which though unlike Soltreon will rapidly eradicate any already present infestation the bodies still block filters until they are all removed, ether over time and filter changes or by having the fuel "polished"
  22. I have to confess I was a little bemused too Rich, not exactly a business model I would adopt, I manage to beat most "Web" prices with still a sensible margin to cover my sourcing and passing time.
  23. No pictures of the "Claret" Perry? It appears we had a really great time from these lovely shots but it all seems a blur now.
  24. So does a decent Racor primary with a cerntrifuge, at a lot less money, there are tried, tested and methods available at far less cost, and they are proven.
  25. Oh dear Paul, poor old Fridgid. There are huge numbers of assholes around in all walks of life, looks like you encountered one of the few with enough brain cells to fill in a hire form, really sorry and I hope Fridgid can be nursed back to health.
