ColinL
Hi, I'm colin L, just joined and thanks for some nice hellos. Question, I was towing my 2.3 m inflAtable, and last year a ba guy said to me that it should have a reg number on it. But since then I have been looking and most small boats being towed don't have one. whats the score?
Poppy
REGISTRATION MARKS Display of Marks 16 No person shall moor, use or navigate a vessel on waters within the navigation area or cause or permit a vessel to be so moored, used or navigated unless the current registration mark issued by the Authority in respect of the vessel is conspicuously displayed at all times on both sides of the vessel near the bow and on the stern of the vessel. http://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0011/399233/Vessel_Reg_Byelaws1997-1.pdf

MauriceMynah
If you wish to use your inflatable on the broads then a toll has to be paid. If you will be using it often then full registration will be your best option, you will get a registration number to be attached to your craft. If only using it for a couple of holidays then visitors tolls might be your best route forward. Personally I'd go "visitors toll" then if you exceed those conditions, go the full hog and register it. You will get a discount for the visitor toll on full registration. I hope that helps.
dnks34
Rather than sticking the reg number onto the inflatable tubes I just stuck one onto each side of the transom.
ColinL
Thanks for the info, but I don't get why virtualy all been towed by hire company boats don't have a reg number, . I will take your advice and go for the visitor toll, cheers

deebee29
I think the hire yard dingies always used to have toll stickers on the front
