jeffbroadslover
Anyone know if the BA have any plans to replace the missing yellow arrow marker on Wroxham bridge? It looks a bit confusing for anyone not familiar with passage through the bridge. Surely it would make sense to carry out any work needed when the river is not very busy. The bridge arch guide also looks like it could do with the rubber covers over the hanging chains could do with replacing with some new bright coloured ones. All this of course assuming there is some cash left in the till at this time of the year. Jeff
ranworthbreeze
Hi Jeff, This topic has been raised many times on the forum, most if not all the bridge markers need maintenance or replacement especially at Yarmouth, Somerleyton where the lower markings are almost unreadable. Regards Alan
Hockham Admiral
Unreadable and unacceptable, Alan, in this H&S era. Perhaps similar letters directly to the BA, Jeff, and see the results of such?
Guest
I've asked in the past for a ranger to clean the ones at Thorpe on the low railway bridges it got done ( once ) to my knowledge after several times of asking and then they replaced the ones at trowse and put one of the old ones that wasn't there before 3 ft from the bridge , why iv no idea its not readable and gives you no chance of stopping before hitting the bridge if your too tall , all the ones I see regularly are filthy and a there is s suitable brush on the launch , surely as they are patrolling its not difficult to keep them clean , on the faster flowing parts of the system its going yo be a little harder to do and need 2 rangers yo be safely done but its essential maintenance that currently not happening and most can't be read in the daytime ever mind any other time . Totally agree that BA need to address this issue and out of season is the perfect time .
CambridgeCabby
With the minimal costs nowadays I cannot understand why a simple laser beam is not used linked to either a green tick or red cross that lights up on the bridge , very easy to install and maintain
grendel
I think that some boats are taller but narrower and can get through certain arches, while others may be shorter but wider and not be able to pass through.
grendel
for instance have you spotted a lot of the marthams cruisers are only 9 foot wide compared to the standard, starting as they do from the wrong side of 'that' bridge- one of the reasons I hired jayne for the spring meet, means I can cruise above the bridge on the days after the meet.
