Now, this is rough! Lowestoft lifeboat out during the Beast from the East's recent visit. I suspect the guys at Gorleston RNLI would have met similar conditions. Of course it's the Gorleston boat that serves Breydon Water. Some of the expertise that's available should you have problems on Breydon. By the way, it doesn't get quite this bad on the Broads!!

Watch the enclosed video!

Don’t know whether to be impressed, jealous or scared. Think I’ll go with all of the above.
It’s excellent they train in those conditions isn’t it?

Notes to self.

1. put 2018 offshore sticker on boat.

2. chuck a couple of quid in the next rnli box I see.

That looks bloody terrifying! I'm not medically trained but I'm guessing the colour of adrenalin is brown.

Big respect.  I know we were delighted to see them arrive once.

Must be exhilarating though, knowing the boat can handle it.  Thank goodness they are crewed by these highly skilled, brave individuals.

When you see the quality of the gear it makes you realise how much effort the fund raisers must put in too.
I can’t think of another organisation that is so widely respected.

It's worth remembering that although they don't have such good boats and equipment there are many independently run lifeboats around the country just as worthy of supporting, hemsby and caister just to mention a few.

A walk around the Caister's very well equipped  Lifeboat Station is always worthwhile, if only as an opportunity to dip your hand into  your pocket. On the Broads our friends at Hemsby are the ones we are most likely to encounter.
