Tricia Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 Hello Norfolk broads. I've just bought a 40ft narrow boat, at the moment moored at Stoke Ferry on the whissey. Once I've cleaned, sorted and changed some bits on the boat I am bringing me and my new home back to Norfolk Suffolk water. Very excited and look forward to meeting other Loverly people that live on the water. talk soon Tricia 6 Quote
SwanR Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 Welcome along to the forum Tricia. I look forward to hearing about your adventures and hope that you will share them here with us. There’s a lot of folk here who enjoy reading about all things boating. 1 Quote
Smoggy Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 40' isn't a narrowboat, it's a stubbyboat! Welcome to the forum, enjoy your new boat, do you have a residential mooring sorted? The BA are more picky than the EA on the Gt.Ouse, I think WRC have some now. Quote
OldBerkshireBoy Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 40ft with trad, semi trad or cruiser deck? Either way enjoy and welcome along. Quote
JanetAnne Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 While a 40x6 ft boat costs the same as a 20x12 ft boat (theoretically) in river tolls, most broads moorings are sold by the length of the boat only meaning narrow boats get to pay somewhat out of proportion unless you have a wide beam narrow boat? OldBerkshireBoy Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 A wide beam canal boat pays twice the amount of a narrow boat on canal marinas. Quote

ChrisB Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 When we bought our Centaur what we would really have liked was a Catalac 8m. But having young children we really needed a marina berth and the same applied in all the South Coast Marinas, Cats pay double! I can still remember her dimensions: 27ft x 13ft 6 ins x 2ft 4ins. The draft would have been very usefull in Poole Harbour. 2 Quote
